recognise it. This ident has bright colours
which is an anti-stereotype to the thriller
genre, confusing the audience.
2. This shot again shows the name of the
ident previously shown, but this time has the
background of a city skyline and the text is in
a bold, clear text with bright colour. This is
most likely used to introduce the scene with
an establishing shot while integrating the titles
with the opening of the film, keeping the
audience watching while the titles are shown.
3. This shot continues the theme of showing
buildings from the city in the background while
opening credits are being shown. This time,
another production company is shown while
the camera pans around a tall building. The
audience would carry on watching as the
location keeps changing around the city so the
audience wants to see where it goes next.
4. This frame shows buildings in the
background with bright skies behind, along
with clear bright text at the front. The text is
big in comparison to the building behind it,
making it look important and stand out to the
audience. The audience would focus on this
text as it is the main focus of the shot and they
will recognise it.
5. In this shot, an actor’s name appears in
front of another part of the city being shown in
this opening sequence, some of the text is
covered by a shadow created by the building
behind. This shows the scale and size of the
building, suggesting that the city is massive.
This creates a sense of mystery for the
audience.
6. This frame also continues the theme of a
city skyline as the background as another
actor’s name appears in front. This makes the
text the focus of the shot and the audience
then focuses on it. This text is different from
previous, as it is wider and stretching across
the whole shot. This shows the text as wide as
the building, showing it is important.
7. In this shot, a busy street is shown next to a
few big buildings, further showing off the
location of the film. The colours of this shot
are bright and colours that connote things
such as power (blue) and growth (green).
These colours are used to create themes of
the location shown in the opening sequence.
8. This shot is closer up than earlier shots of
the with the text along the side of another
building. The shot pans around the building to
show an actor’s name that is across the
building. The pan draws in the attention of the
audience so they are more enticed when the
actor’s name is revealed.
9. This last shot of the title sequence shows
the title of the film, in the centre of the frame,
once again with the city skyline and clear blue
skies in the background. The text is big and in
the middle so the audience focuses on it. It is
the last thing shown in the title sequence so it
stays in the audiences’ mind.
