Need For Speed – Aaron Paul

When creating a film one of the main factors is
thinking about the advertising you are going to do.
There would be no point in creating a film tat nobody
knew about, therefore nobody was able to o and see.
In this day and age there are many ways that a
production company can advertise their film, a few
ways being on TV shows, internet and the radio.
These methods help a wider range of audience get o
know about the film. However as the film has a
specific demographic, they will obviously choose
relevant networks o advertise on, for Need for Speed,
examples are BBC1 and E4 as it is aimed at the
younger male generation
TV shows are a huge way to get film promotions
across – more specifically, TV chat shows. Tis is
because the audience watching the show can see
for themselves what the film is going to be like,
usually with a verbal description even by one of
the stars too, giving their thoughts on the film. An
example of a TV chat show which Need for Speed
was advertised on is Top Gear. This is a good
choice as both film and show are about cars and
are also targeted at the male gender. Plus, this
gave Aaron Paul a great excuse to be on the show
as well.
The internet is a great way to advertise as nearly
everybody uses it nowadays, especially the target
audience of young males that the production
companies wan to see in the advert, so promoting he
film online is a great idea. Aaron Paul gave a celebrity
appearance at te E3 gaming convention. Clips from
this were shown all over the internet on sies like
Youtube, Facebook and Twitter which can then be
shared amonst a massive group of people rapidly, I
also means tha fans of both Aaron Paul and the game
Need for Speed are a hit and these factors may make
them go watch the film.
When thinking about Need for Speed, Aaron Paul
may not be the most obvious choice to play the
main role of Toby Marshall, however after the
huge success in the TV show Breaking Bad the
producers knew that using him would be a great
way to bring a wider audience. Even those who
don’ like the genre are more likely to go and
watch the film if their favourite actor is starring in
it. It is also great for advertising as other shows
would really want this star on theirs to boost their
own profits, whilst ultimately boosting the films
too.
Pre-Production
When it comes to the pre-production side to the film the market research
plays a vital and important role by bringing in the correct target audience for
the blockbuster film. For example the Need for Speed film will have to look
into the game, which was the previous ‘need for speed’ title before the film
was released. Once they have looked at the game it is important to bring in
the correct target audience for the product. They also can create surveys and
questionnaires. By doing this they can relate to their target audience and can
now learn more about them and what is expected from them in the film.
Post Production
The post production process is all about the screen testing, this is where they
do a screening for the film before the release date and ask the audience what
they think of the film and ask them to come along to see it. However, they
have to get the correct target audience to come along relating to the films
genre Once they have seen the film they provide feedback of the film back to
the company who set up the post production. By doing this it helps them to
add or cut certain parts of a film out.
Anchorage within the film industry means ‘the fixing
of meaning’ through the connotations and signs
which can be main techniques in print advertising. In
the film ‘Need for Speed’ this is mainly used with
women and the cars, both significant to the films
target audience, also relating to the game Need For
Speed which both target audiences range from 15-30
year old males. The posters give a positive look
towards the film and its target audience. For example
there is a helicopter, fast cars and women and also the
main characters. The image is also taken outdoors
which implies that the film will have a lot of outdoor
racing within it.
Synergy is the sales of related products to the film. The products help
advertise the film which can lead to the film being more succesful. For
example a main synergy product for the film ‘Need for Speed’ would
be the video game. This helped the film sell because the target
audience of the game would want to watch the film. Not only do they
try to attract the video game players but they also attract young males
with the toy cars and accessories available.
USP stands for the ‘unique selling point’. It is something about a film
which makes it individual and to make it stand out. The USP for Need
for Speed is the use of attractive women and racing cars, this is used
to attract the target audience because this is typical of their likes. The
posters that advertise the film both show attractive women, racing
cars and popular actors such as Aaron Paul.

  • 3. When creating a film one of the main factors is thinking about the advertising you are going to do. There would be no point in creating a film tat nobody knew about, therefore nobody was able to o and see. In this day and age there are many ways that a production company can advertise their film, a few ways being on TV shows, internet and the radio. These methods help a wider range of audience get o know about the film. However as the film has a specific demographic, they will obviously choose relevant networks o advertise on, for Need for Speed, examples are BBC1 and E4 as it is aimed at the younger male generation
  • 4. TV shows are a huge way to get film promotions across – more specifically, TV chat shows. Tis is because the audience watching the show can see for themselves what the film is going to be like, usually with a verbal description even by one of the stars too, giving their thoughts on the film. An example of a TV chat show which Need for Speed was advertised on is Top Gear. This is a good choice as both film and show are about cars and are also targeted at the male gender. Plus, this gave Aaron Paul a great excuse to be on the show as well.

The internet is a great way to advertise as nearly everybody uses it nowadays, especially the target audience of young males that the production companies wan to see in the advert, so promoting he film online is a great idea. Aaron Paul gave a celebrity appearance at te E3 gaming convention. Clips from this were shown all over the internet on sies like Youtube, Facebook and Twitter which can then be shared amonst a massive group of people rapidly, I also means tha fans of both Aaron Paul and the game Need for Speed are a hit and these factors may make them go watch the film.

When thinking about Need for Speed, Aaron Paul may not be the most obvious choice to play the main role of Toby Marshall, however after the huge success in the TV show Breaking Bad the producers knew that using him would be a great way to bring a wider audience. Even those who don’ like the genre are more likely to go and watch the film if their favourite actor is starring in it. It is also great for advertising as other shows would really want this star on theirs to boost their own profits, whilst ultimately boosting the films too.
  • 7. Pre-Production When it comes to the pre-production side to the film the market research plays a vital and important role by bringing in the correct target audience for the blockbuster film. For example the Need for Speed film will have to look into the game, which was the previous ‘need for speed’ title before the film was released. Once they have looked at the game it is important to bring in the correct target audience for the product. They also can create surveys and questionnaires. By doing this they can relate to their target audience and can now learn more about them and what is expected from them in the film. Post Production The post production process is all about the screen testing, this is where they do a screening for the film before the release date and ask the audience what they think of the film and ask them to come along to see it. However, they have to get the correct target audience to come along relating to the films genre Once they have seen the film they provide feedback of the film back to the company who set up the post production. By doing this it helps them to add or cut certain parts of a film out.
  • 8. Anchorage within the film industry means ‘the fixing of meaning’ through the connotations and signs which can be main techniques in print advertising. In the film ‘Need for Speed’ this is mainly used with women and the cars, both significant to the films target audience, also relating to the game Need For Speed which both target audiences range from 15-30 year old males. The posters give a positive look towards the film and its target audience. For example there is a helicopter, fast cars and women and also the main characters. The image is also taken outdoors which implies that the film will have a lot of outdoor racing within it.
  • 9. Synergy is the sales of related products to the film. The products help advertise the film which can lead to the film being more succesful. For example a main synergy product for the film ‘Need for Speed’ would be the video game. This helped the film sell because the target audience of the game would want to watch the film. Not only do they try to attract the video game players but they also attract young males with the toy cars and accessories available. USP stands for the ‘unique selling point’. It is something about a film which makes it individual and to make it stand out. The USP for Need for Speed is the use of attractive women and racing cars, this is used to attract the target audience because this is typical of their likes. The posters that advertise the film both show attractive women, racing cars and popular actors such as Aaron Paul.
