1. Matthew Bainbridge – Personal statement
Media and film is something I’ve grown up and developed a love for growing up and starting college.
Analysing and detailing and understanding media and using my own creative and dedicated freedom
for media like campaigns. Production and Editing as my time in college I see myself in awe and
wanting to pursue that side of media for personal interest and a growing education sense. My media
course isn’t the only side of media applicants I take interest in I have and continue to do so edit
make and film videos personal and education for myself and demonstrating the skills I have learned
across the way. Most of media and my work has been focused on technical and production for my
career. Media as a course and potential career is something that amazes, and I am so passionate
about. Looking at production’s sets, practical props and directors’ commentary is fulfilling and
inspirational to me learning and seeing how film and media is created is just as interesting as seeing
the finished product to me. Media is a growing construct that people take in everyday and I
passionate to make a fulfilling contribute to the industry.
I chose and studied BTEC level 2 creative media for my first year at Sunderland college and after
went onto study BTEC level 3 creative media for a full 2 year’s. Doing BTEC media gave me a start
and a outlook on how the industry is and how I can be myself in it. Starting from level 2 really helped
starting from the beginning made my skills on productions and editing for finer as time went on and
learning how I could improve as each year went by. The theory of media as codes and conventions
gave me looking at films a critical response to types and mentions of media, making my media skills
improved in every element whether it was production evaluations or editing, I have developed both
my theoretical and practical skills in media within the course. As well as being on the course for all
my college duration had reinforced my want and desire to follow that up in occupation and
education. I actively demonstrate and show a good time management by solely focusing on my
BTEC level 3 media course. My projects always handed in on time and with a great standard and I
always have perfect attendance at my college. The BTEC course has developed and pushed my skills
in Adobe premiere pro, Photoshop, logic pro x. Always meaning I have a wide range of technical
software I can work on and use in a professional manner. Practical productions have made me take
and learn leadership in and where needed. Such as directing group and film productions for my
course and personal projects I had passion to make within media.
Creative products in media will always be at the helm of what I like doing in life. In my college course
I have created many and distinct products and taken this admire ship outside of college. BTEC game
me a start for the interests I grew to be passionate about, mainly from creating and learning to
create a short film in my own creativity. From that I have watched and created skills and how to
adapt them in media throughout. As well as in my own time I have worked for my father’s company
by working as a assistant by doing count up ands price charting working and adapting retail skills and
my math skills as well as well as promoting and using social media to promote his business through
different sites and connections to put the business out there. Also, I have volunteered as charity
events and social events for various campaigns and colleges. I will be doing a part time job
developing my skills in media and production with my work experience. Media savvy is a local media
business, and I will be promoting social media learning production and developing editing skills. With
all I pride myself on being reliable and continue to contribute.
2. I am passionate about the industry and eager to expand my skills in education and contribute myself
in the media industry that I am so passionate for.
