In Study of Mariology & Roman Catholicism:
THE BLESSED VIRGIN OF MOUNT ALTINO
On July 23 (1496), on Mount Altino (in the poor village of Vall'Alta di Albino in
Lombardy, Italy), a poor father with his two sons have cut some plants in order to
recover wood and produce coal fuel for sale.
The day was very hot and his tired children complained of thirst. The father, knowing he
was too far from the Serio river that flows on the bottom of the valley, entrusted his
prayer to the Madonna (Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus).
The father’s trust was rewarded. The Virgin Mary appeared to him on the spot and
ordered him to hit a rock with his sickle. From that exact point, fresh spring water began
to flow which quenched his children's thirst and continues to flow.
It is the miracle of the trust that a father placed in the person he believed closest to him
and who was able to help him in times of need, and he chose the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God.
CATHOLIC LAYPEOPLE BELIEVED
The father reported the Marian apparition to the Catholic laypeople among the locals
(whom were known as peasants working for feudal landlords), and they eventually
accepted the miracle of the (free) water and (free) apparition of the Madonna.
September 5 (1496), the Catholic laypeople built a small chapel-shrine on the site of the
reported Marian apparition.
As the Marian apparition was accepted by the Roman Catholic clergy, and popularity
grew throughout the country, the number of faithful continued to rush to the place, and
the clergy felt obliged to build a larger church building.
It took 80 years for the construction of the sanctuary, then named “The Sanctuary of the
Blessed Virgin of Mount Altino”, which remained unchanged until the end of the 17th
century and which incorporated the original building.
Although the popularity of the place was diverted from the greenery of the forest where
the Virgin Mary appeared, to that of the human-made church building built by the
Roman Catholic clergy -
However, the Marian tradition to visit the site to pray the Rosary has remained
unchanged, rather dedicated to the miraculous appearance of the Virgin Mary (than the
further construction of church buildings that have consumed more natural resources).
CHURCH BUILDING DEVELOPMENTS
Please be spiritually strong and stay spiritually healthy in reading this:
The “Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Altino” church building was further
enlarged by the Roman Catholic clergy (of Rome) at the beginning of the seventeenth
century, and the beam at the entrance has imprinted the date of 1611. At that date the
church building had therefore already the three-nave configuration with the central one
wider and connected to the presbytery, where the altarpiece by Gian Paolo Cavagna
“Descent of the Holy Spirit”, canvas that was later removed in 1865 to be replaced with
the sculptural group Madonna in Quinto Foglia and her two children. The golden crown
was placed on the head of the Virgin statue in 1919. In 1848, the presbytery was
enlarged with the coverage of the fourteenth-century frescoes for the construction of the
stuccos of the niche that would have contained the sculptural group. At the beginning of
the twentieth century, the sanctuary was again enlarged on a project by Luigi Angelini.
The premises were equipped with a chancellery, the bell tower was rebuilt, the large
entrance arch was moved to the beginning of the avenue that connects to the staircase
that leads to the church, works that will continue until after 1930, with the consecration
of the church and the complex of buildings in 1935 by Bishop Adriano Bernareggi. In
the years from 1970 there were numerous works to expand the road that connects
Mount Altino to the hamlet of Vall'Alta to allow the faithful a more accessible access
route also by public transport. On 23 July 1989 the golden statue of the Madonna was
placed on the tip of the bell tower. The lasting was carried out with the fusion of the gold
objects offered by the faithful… The sanctuary complex is composed of several
structures developed around the church, the central part and heart of the buildings. The
church can be reached from the wide staircase leading to the portico which runs along
the entire front and portions of the side of the building. The interior has three naves
covered by crossed vaults. The wider and wider central nave leads to the raised
presbytery by a step and preceded by a triumphal arch. The side aisles have pointed
windows with colored glass. The nave on the right preserves the canvas Beata Vergine
with San Rocco and San Giovanni Battista by Giuseppe Moretti da Vertova from 1844,
while the side nave a Madonna of tenderness by an unknown author. The presbytery
has sixteenth-century frescoes: two Madonnas of the milk by anonymous author,
probably ex voto, a cycle of Stories of Mary almost lost if not for the part depicting the
sleeping Madonna work attributed to Christopher Baschenis the Elder dating back to
around 1580…
However, the (miraculous) water that flows from the rock (from the ORIGINAL
apparition site), as the object of the miracles, is visible through a niche protected by a
glass placed on the back of the church building, and can be drunk and collected by the
faithful through a small fountain placed alongside.
ROSARY PRAYERS KEEP PEOPLE SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY & ALIVE
Although no miracle stories were publicly shared, particularly testimonies from the
poorer common Catholic laypeople, while most information were more of descriptions of
the church buildings (spent on and profited by the Roman Catholic clergy and Roman
Catholic religious world organizations), that acted more about “real estate
developments” than “spiritual developments” –
However, Catholic people continue to pray worldwide the same prayers of the Rosary;
that even if such were removed from the traditional Mass prayed traditionally in church
buildings (since 1965 after the Second Vatican of the Vatican City in Rome, the capital
of Italy) –
Still, many people pray directly to the Blessed Virgin Mary (and the Child Jesus), and
ask for miracles to stay “spiritually healthy & alive”.
Thus, to be in oneness with the holy spirit of the Virgin Mary’s apparition, questions
should be asked: Does the poorer common people have access to clean water? Is the
water for free? What other family needs do they require to stay healthy? What
resources should be held as “everything in common” to benefit all people?
Similarly, amidst religious world organizations (and their banks and religious
infrastructures) may only be fronts disguised to cover the true “holy catholic church” and
the “one holy catholic and apostolic church” (prayed in the creeds during Mass of the
Holy Eucharist); therefore…
WE PRAY AS THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH
(to the “Blessed Mother of Spiritual Health”, the “Immaculate Conception”):
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (Said 3 times)
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee to we
cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and
weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy
toward us, and after this exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O
clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of
Christ. Let us pray.
O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to
Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of
God, of Saint Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the
saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and
for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ
Our Lord. Amen.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do
thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and all
the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. Amen.
CONCLUSION
And the “one holy catholic and apostolic church” shall be fulfilled, when the “True
People of God” have fulfilled the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 4:32-35 in the New
Testament Bible), that states “They Had Everything in Common”:
“Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said
that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in
common.
And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the
Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.
There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or
houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles'
feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.”
That is the miraculous holy water of the Virgin Mary…

blessed virgin of mount altino.docx

  • 1. In Study of Mariology & Roman Catholicism: THE BLESSED VIRGIN OF MOUNT ALTINO On July 23 (1496), on Mount Altino (in the poor village of Vall'Alta di Albino in Lombardy, Italy), a poor father with his two sons have cut some plants in order to recover wood and produce coal fuel for sale. The day was very hot and his tired children complained of thirst. The father, knowing he was too far from the Serio river that flows on the bottom of the valley, entrusted his prayer to the Madonna (Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus). The father’s trust was rewarded. The Virgin Mary appeared to him on the spot and ordered him to hit a rock with his sickle. From that exact point, fresh spring water began to flow which quenched his children's thirst and continues to flow. It is the miracle of the trust that a father placed in the person he believed closest to him and who was able to help him in times of need, and he chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. CATHOLIC LAYPEOPLE BELIEVED The father reported the Marian apparition to the Catholic laypeople among the locals (whom were known as peasants working for feudal landlords), and they eventually accepted the miracle of the (free) water and (free) apparition of the Madonna. September 5 (1496), the Catholic laypeople built a small chapel-shrine on the site of the reported Marian apparition. As the Marian apparition was accepted by the Roman Catholic clergy, and popularity grew throughout the country, the number of faithful continued to rush to the place, and the clergy felt obliged to build a larger church building. It took 80 years for the construction of the sanctuary, then named “The Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Altino”, which remained unchanged until the end of the 17th century and which incorporated the original building. Although the popularity of the place was diverted from the greenery of the forest where the Virgin Mary appeared, to that of the human-made church building built by the Roman Catholic clergy - However, the Marian tradition to visit the site to pray the Rosary has remained unchanged, rather dedicated to the miraculous appearance of the Virgin Mary (than the further construction of church buildings that have consumed more natural resources). CHURCH BUILDING DEVELOPMENTS
  • 2. Please be spiritually strong and stay spiritually healthy in reading this: The “Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Altino” church building was further enlarged by the Roman Catholic clergy (of Rome) at the beginning of the seventeenth century, and the beam at the entrance has imprinted the date of 1611. At that date the church building had therefore already the three-nave configuration with the central one wider and connected to the presbytery, where the altarpiece by Gian Paolo Cavagna “Descent of the Holy Spirit”, canvas that was later removed in 1865 to be replaced with the sculptural group Madonna in Quinto Foglia and her two children. The golden crown was placed on the head of the Virgin statue in 1919. In 1848, the presbytery was enlarged with the coverage of the fourteenth-century frescoes for the construction of the stuccos of the niche that would have contained the sculptural group. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the sanctuary was again enlarged on a project by Luigi Angelini. The premises were equipped with a chancellery, the bell tower was rebuilt, the large entrance arch was moved to the beginning of the avenue that connects to the staircase that leads to the church, works that will continue until after 1930, with the consecration of the church and the complex of buildings in 1935 by Bishop Adriano Bernareggi. In the years from 1970 there were numerous works to expand the road that connects Mount Altino to the hamlet of Vall'Alta to allow the faithful a more accessible access route also by public transport. On 23 July 1989 the golden statue of the Madonna was placed on the tip of the bell tower. The lasting was carried out with the fusion of the gold objects offered by the faithful… The sanctuary complex is composed of several structures developed around the church, the central part and heart of the buildings. The church can be reached from the wide staircase leading to the portico which runs along the entire front and portions of the side of the building. The interior has three naves covered by crossed vaults. The wider and wider central nave leads to the raised presbytery by a step and preceded by a triumphal arch. The side aisles have pointed windows with colored glass. The nave on the right preserves the canvas Beata Vergine with San Rocco and San Giovanni Battista by Giuseppe Moretti da Vertova from 1844, while the side nave a Madonna of tenderness by an unknown author. The presbytery has sixteenth-century frescoes: two Madonnas of the milk by anonymous author, probably ex voto, a cycle of Stories of Mary almost lost if not for the part depicting the sleeping Madonna work attributed to Christopher Baschenis the Elder dating back to around 1580… However, the (miraculous) water that flows from the rock (from the ORIGINAL apparition site), as the object of the miracles, is visible through a niche protected by a glass placed on the back of the church building, and can be drunk and collected by the faithful through a small fountain placed alongside. ROSARY PRAYERS KEEP PEOPLE SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY & ALIVE Although no miracle stories were publicly shared, particularly testimonies from the poorer common Catholic laypeople, while most information were more of descriptions of
  • 3. the church buildings (spent on and profited by the Roman Catholic clergy and Roman Catholic religious world organizations), that acted more about “real estate developments” than “spiritual developments” – However, Catholic people continue to pray worldwide the same prayers of the Rosary; that even if such were removed from the traditional Mass prayed traditionally in church buildings (since 1965 after the Second Vatican of the Vatican City in Rome, the capital of Italy) – Still, many people pray directly to the Blessed Virgin Mary (and the Child Jesus), and ask for miracles to stay “spiritually healthy & alive”. Thus, to be in oneness with the holy spirit of the Virgin Mary’s apparition, questions should be asked: Does the poorer common people have access to clean water? Is the water for free? What other family needs do they require to stay healthy? What resources should be held as “everything in common” to benefit all people? Similarly, amidst religious world organizations (and their banks and religious infrastructures) may only be fronts disguised to cover the true “holy catholic church” and the “one holy catholic and apostolic church” (prayed in the creeds during Mass of the Holy Eucharist); therefore… WE PRAY AS THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH (to the “Blessed Mother of Spiritual Health”, the “Immaculate Conception”): Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (Said 3 times) Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee to we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Saint Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the
  • 4. wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. Amen. CONCLUSION And the “one holy catholic and apostolic church” shall be fulfilled, when the “True People of God” have fulfilled the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 4:32-35 in the New Testament Bible), that states “They Had Everything in Common”: “Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.” That is the miraculous holy water of the Virgin Mary… (researched)
