Compare and contrast
1. Compare and Contrast
By: Jillian Mohr
Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Aladdin are very much alike and
different in many ways. I am going to tell you many ways these stories are
alike and different. I am witting a comparing and contrast paper about these
stories because we would like to know how these two Arabian folktales are
similar and different. There is the first similarity.
The first similarity between these two stories is that that there was
some kind of treasure. In Ali Baba there was a cave with a lot of treasure. In
Aladdin there was a hidden cave in the desert under the sand, and that was
also filled with treasure too. In both stories the treasure took a big place, and
also the treasure meant a lot to the characters too.
The second similarity is that there are bad guys. Well in Aladdin there
is a bad guy named Jafar. Jafar is tall and very skinny and also mean because
he is bad. In Ali Baba there were forty bad guys and they were called the
forty thieves the forty thieves were also mean for the same reason as Jafar
was.
The third similarity is that there is magic in both stories. Like in
Aladdin the genie he’s magic. Also in Ali Baba there was the magic words
“Open Sesame” which those words open the cave. Was some of the magic
but there was a lot more.
The fourth similarity is that in both stories the bad guy tries to kill the
good guys. Like for example Jafar (the bad guy in Aladdin) tries to kill
Aladdin because he wanted to be the king. In Ali Baba the bad guys (the
forty thieves) try to kill Ali Baba because he new where there secret cave
was. So in both stories the bad guy tries to kill the good guys.
Now we are going to move one to the differences. The first difference
in these stories is, in Ali Baba Cassim (the brother of Ali Baba) gets stuck in
the forty thieves cave and was killed. In Aladdin, Aladdin gets stuck in the
cave too. But Aladdin managed to get out of the cave with the help of magic.
2. The second difference between Aladdin and Ali Baba and the Forty
Thieves is that in Aladdin there was one bad guy only one bad guy. In Ali
Baba there is not one, not two but there are forty of them so it was a little
harder to get ride of them because there was forty.
The third difference is that In Aladdin the bad doesn’t die but he
turned into a genie and got stuck in the genie jar. In Ali Baba the bad guy
got killed with a dagger and died. So in these stories the bad guy died and
got stuck in a jar.
The Final difference is that in Aladdin the pet bird talks like a human
and talks to the humans. In Ali Baba there are no talking animals what so
ever the camel doesn’t even talk not to any thing he just walks where the
people tell them to go.
Well those were some of the similarities between Ali Baba and The
Forty Thieves, and Aladdin. As you can guess there are many more but
there are so many I can’t type them all. If you didn’t read this paper very
well than I consider re-reading this paper one more time because there is
some very cool information in this paper about these stories. Also if you
didn’t see or read any of these stories I highly recommend you to do so
because they are very good. I personally liked than movie Aladdin better
than the story Ali Baba. Not because it is a movie but because I think it has a
little more action and I like action. Also it is a little to gory in Ali Baba and I
don’t like that. Other than that you should really look in to seeing Aladdin
and reading Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves.
