1. Compare and Contrast
By: Gretchen
Aladdin and Ali Baba have many similarities and differences. At
some points they even seem to be the same story told in a different
way but in other points they are a completely different tale. For
example the villages in both Aladdin and Ali Baba live in. They
are explained differently but still look the same.
These two stories have many similarities. Some of the similarities
are that Aladdin takes place in Arabian times. Ali Baba and the
Forty Thieves also takes place in the small Arabian villages. For
example Aladdin lives in a small abandoned hut while Ali Baba
lives in a small hut.
The many similarities of these two stories also continue in ways
that don’t have anything to do with Arabian places. One of
Aladdin’s most important moments happen in a cave. In Ali Baba
the most important moment happens in a cave. When Ali Baba
witnesses the thieves open the cave by saying the secret word,
“Open Sesame” it leads into the whole story. Imagine if Ali Baba
never heard them saying that, there would be no story.
Among the similarities in these stories I think the biggest one
would be the end result. At the end of Ali Baba, Morigianna gets to
marry his son for her bravery. In Aladdin, he gets to marry
Princess Jasmine for his bravery. Or in other words Morgianna and
Aladdin, get reworded for there bravery.
I think that among the similarities of these two stories there are
also many differences. One of these differences would be that
2. Aladdin is a Disney movie made in 1992 and Ali Baba is a story in
an Elm’s story book.
Another difference between Aladdin and Ali Baba is that only one
can enter the cave in Aladdin but in Ali Baba anyone who knows
the password can enter. Like when Ali Baba opened the cave by
saying the password him and his brother could enter because they
knew the password.
One more example of a difference in both stories is that in Ali
Baba is that there is forty criminals. In Aladdin there was only one
really important criminal. In some ways he was the most important
character in the story.
If you looked at both of these stories there are a lot more
similarities that are important but I thought these were important
too. The most important similarities are the end result in both.
