Project Overview
What was the theme of your project and
what attracted you to it?
• The theme behind my project was specifically simplicity because I wanted to create products which are
simple but also affective which I believe I managed to achieve. I also think having my project like this was
a lot easier to attract my exact demographic. Behind my project had more than just one theme, the
theme of what my project showed was a fashion brand that is advertised through its own social media
but also relating back to my research I had explored more into my audience research and fashion itself by
finding out the effects behind the fashion industry this then made me decided to include positives in my
project which included my other theme of #SELFLOVE I carried this throughout both my website and
social media page because I wanted to make this awareness known to my audience, I felt this was a great
way to connect with my audience and it created a more deeper meaning behind my brand which relates
towards myself but also helps my audience. The thing which attracted me to this self love theme was
simply from my research as I learnt many meanings behind the role which social media plays within our
mental health so I felt this was a must in my project. Furthermore, what attracted me mainly to the
simplicity side of things was myself I feel I wanted my project to have a strong connection to myself and I
have always liked to created my projects to a minimal as I have done this in my previous projects and
carried this theme throughout up to now. I also think looking into existing brands layouts and themes
attracted me and inspired me to try these things out and see what I could link with or created, I
especially thought my audience demographic would be attracted to these type of themes because they
are used a lot within both the fashion industry and brands of websites, social media.
What research did you undertake and how
did it help develop your project?
• For my project I did some undertake on my research work which included a range of different aspects such as
audience, market, topic and production which I found very useful because I had managed to learn many new
techniques or even just facts about either my audience or the subject arear, I was focusing into which was a
strength to me. I had begun by looking into audience research this included exploring into my demographic
audience such as the Instagram reach rankings and who is most likely to have these apps, this reflected onto
my own project because I was then able to use this into my Instagram account by knowing certain aspects I
would focus on such as the design side, but also if I had chosen a good demographic audience. Although I
already know quite a lot into the Instagram advertising and such it was a strength for me to still explore this
even for just a better understanding to my audience. Furthermore, I also explored the website design statistics
on what people think about certain design people have or what they prefer to see on a website which I
focused on my age range for this because I wanted to be creating something that will satisfy with my audience.
I felt it was necessary to look at shopping statistics as well between men and women and who is more likely to
shop in store or online and shopping trends among 18–26-year-olds I did this because it is a great way to
explore more into my audience and really be able to back up my evidence for why I am producing things in a
certain way which I believe comes down to my research a lot.it also helps me to spot certain aspects which are
important to my brand things which I include would be more likely to grab my audience attention to my
products.
• Moving on from this, I also undertook market research which I had explored into many existing products
these had an huge impact on my project because I was able to compare each brand on the qualities they
have or don’t have such as being design based or even the type of information they include or how they
advertise differently from another brand. I feel this is important to me because it reflects on how I can
include this into my own products and it has inspired me to want to created that extra more for example
linking back to my project I looked into existing products and found a brand which took a lot of responsibility
to their sustainability to the clothes they make this reflected onto me and I felt I could include something
such as a selflove page because it creates a much larger meaning behind my brand. Overall, my existing
products helped to develop my project because I have been able to achieve a lot more and I added a range
of ideas to my brand which I wouldn’t have known before I undertook my research. The next subject I
explored into through my research was my topic research this involved finding out behind the fashion
industry because I believe this is something I never touched on before doing this project and I felt it would
impact the products a lot more. I looked into the ugly side of things within the industry which impacted on
how I viewed fashion, I then chose to reflect on social media such as the influence which Instagram has and
also the role social media can play with mental health because these are important subjects I think were a
must for me to explore but also because I ended up reflecting this into my brand by posting daily quotes
which helped others who follow my social media because this was a role I gained from my research. The last
part towards my research was the production research this was a strength because I was able to use these
tips when it came to my production work which I did, I learnt new things as well and included them. Overall,
I think as a whole my research has helped me to not only gain one thing but several different parts to each
subject I explored which I then used onto my project and linked into how I did this I also linked back a lot of
these new things through my reflective journal.
What was the outcome of the project/task?
• The outcome to my project was my fashion brand which includes both a website to advertise my clothing
and brand itself and a social media Instagram page. The website included 7 pages which were home, self
love, about, shop new, contact, insta shop and store policy throughout these pages my aim was to
advertise and promote my brand to my demographic audience which I believe was successful. Included
onto my social media page was 19 pages, each page is detailed with a range of photography images that
relate to my brand or is content which attracts and appeals towards my audience type. I was also
successful to the outcome of the pages on the social media account which are motivational quotes
because I felt I had gotten my point across and through one of the website pages which is dedicated to
self love, throughout the whole of my planning I have kept with the same outcome idea which is to create
a fashion brand that reflects me and what I am passionate. This is a topic which I have kept with
throughout every single project and is something I aspire to continue to create in the future. I also linked
my social media to my website to also advertise it through there which I think stood out very well and
linked well together.
Personal Response
How did you feel about the project before
you started?
• Before starting my FMP project, I was very excited but at the same time a bit nervous on how fast it
has come around since finishing my previous project. As this project depends a lot with my final
grades and determines my future with university, I knew I wanted to be prepared for it because I was
going to put my all into the work. I was excited because when it comes round to the fmp projects
these are the ones which you chose the theme and subject of what they are going to be about which
I like to do most this is because its something I am interested in. Therefore, I can think of different
ideas beforehand and gather a plan together as it also relates to aspects, I want to create in the
future which excites me more. However, I did feel a bit less motivated before starting this is mainly
because of the fact I had just finished another project and was moving straight onto the next which
can be a lot to take in and I did put a lot more pressure on myself because of it being the last final
project I felt it had to be the best yet. Once I had began the project, I did become more motivated
when switching from a project I didn’t quite understand to one which I am more intrigued by was a
positive for myself.
What do you think about your project development and
how did it help you to refine your idea?
• I had a lot of project development through my project which was very successful, this includes
looking into other website which are fashion brand and adding in my own ideas which I could
develop and create into a lot more than just a simple idea. When creating my self love pages I
didn't have a firm choice of everything I was going to include on the page, and I hadn't made
any links through my social media page however by looking into other existing products and
audience research I found this was an important subject I found facts and interviews which
helped me develop more of an idea to my project. I would say at the beginning of my project I
didn't have a firm choice on what exactly I would create how I was going to layout my pages
but with all of the research I have gathered in my PowerPoints and within my planning, I have
been able to pick together different ideas into one. I think this is very important because it
shows how much my planning has made an impact to my production and development. As I
have worked independently it can be harder to figure out all of the plans and development I
wanted to achieve on my own with no support, however I have managed to do so just by
looking back at all of my planning I also looked back at my reflective journal because this shows
a lot of development to my production. Work.
Did you collaborate on your project or engage
contributors, etc?
• Within my project I didn’t include any kind of collaboration, because I felt this wasn’t something I
wanted to do however I did include one contribute which was my sister Abbi, she helped me with my
photoshoot production work and was both the model when taking photographs, we took turns for
being both the model and photographer, which was a good technique because I resulted in getting
every picture or shot type which was needed, and I had planned this beforehand in my pre-production
PowerPoint. Overall, this was a good experience to include other contributors I believe it helped me to
gain more skills within teamwork through my project by another person helping me out with my
production and I think without this help I wouldn’t have done as well with getting as many shots, or all
o the different shot types I wanted to include I would have also not had a model for the shoot. Another
aspect within my project was the google forms question I had created ‘what visually comes to mind
when you think of the word luxe?’ I was able to receive several responses which was great feedback
from my audience which I then reflected on in my pre-production PowerPoint, this also helped me to
chose this name for the brand as I was struggling beforehand to think of one and because I could create
meaning behind it from my exact responses.
How did you feel when the project was
completed and why?
• Once I had finished my project, I was overall feeling very relieved with having finally finished everything I
have been working on over a long period of time. However, I was still feeling a bit worried and stressed this
is mainly because I was worrying about smaller details such as if I had forgotten anything which I should
have included or if I could have added a lot more into the project because I do tend to overthink those
things. Also, when I had received my feedback to the project so far, I did have improvements to be made
which also made me anxious to how this would affect my grade, but I did manage to make as many
improvements as I could with the time I had left, and I then got these checked with my tutor to make sure I
had completed the correct amount and everything I could do so. I was very happy with my PowerPoints
because I had left some time to act upon those for any last-minute improvements which I made these
impacted a lot more onto my project I believe because I expanded this a lot. I believe I had put all my effort
and hard work into this project, so I was happy to be able to finish knowing that, with also needing certain
qualifications for my university applications I do feel a bit on edge if I wasn’t to receive this, although being
told I am achieving a high grade it did still add a bit more pressure to making sure I stick with this and
continue to add as much detail as I could possibly do so. As of now I am still feeling on-edge as I can oly wait
for my results for my grade.
Evaluating the project
What were the good points about the project/task and what did you
learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible]
• Throughout my project I have had quite a lot of good points such as my reflective journal log this was very
useful to me this is because I would type up after each lesson or week on how my project was going and
weaknesses and strengths I have come across . This had a huge impact to my project because I noticed
improvements to my work when I got closer to the end of my production this was purely because I had logged
weaknesses in my log which I knew I needed to improve on myself, and I had found the issues to these
problems to resolve. I had also taken many screenshots which I added into the log for backup on how I had
exactly been creating everything and each specific aspect. The second good point to my project was my
photography side of things especially when I had taken both of my photoshoots this is because I was very
happy with how every picture had turned out, I also think I had taken a range of pictures a lot more than I had
needed which was a strength for my products as I could use some of the for back up incase, I needed more
this is better than not having enough images and having to arrange more photoshoots. As well as the help
from the contributions of having a model for my shoot was another good point to my work. The last good
point to my project was my research PowerPoint I believe I put a huge amount of effort into this by expanding
into 4 different sections of my research and I managed to pick up a lot of new skills and learn new things,
which I did then include into my production and final product. It also made me understand more of fashion as
a topic and that there is many different sections to it or even so that there is problems which do occur, such as
the model industry which I explored and the affects which social media create through mental health I
expanded this and included it into my product.
What challenges did you face and how did you
respond to them? Try and think of at least 3...
• A challenge to which I faced was whilst using photoshop I had a problem with my image size when
uploading pictures or pieces of text on this page, this is because I didn’t make the inches large enough
which caused everything to look too blurry, however I didn’t realise this until uploading onto my social
media account it looked unprofessional and was very hard to read through. I responded to this challenge by
asking my tutor for some advice on what the issue could be or if it was photoshop in general, I sooner found
out my image size had been set way too small so by adjusting this I was able to add in my fonts etc. and
they were no longer blurred. The second challenge which I faced was cutting my images out with photoshop
this is because when using the magic tool, they looked very uneven and didn’t seem very appealing when
looking at my outcome of the image therefore I resulted to not continuing this type of editing I had given up
with this tool, until I remember the lasso tool which is used to cut out the backgrounds by hand. Using this
tool was more efficient and eye catching to my audience with a smoother finish which was great. The last
challenge which I came across through my project was when I used the wix site and whilst editing this I
tried to achieve a slideshow animation of the font at the top of my website this was to show the 20% off
signs I wanted them moving across the page, the problem with this was I was unsure on how to create this,
I responded to this by searching through YouTube tutorials and managed to find one which isn’t exact but
close to it this one included more of an animation than the words moving across fully which I was still very
happy with.
What were the negative points about the
experience, and what could you have done to
improve them?
• I believe a negative point towards my experience with this project is my time management
although I have been able to hand everything in and I am on track for my final grade, I do feel this
is a slight negative to my work because if I had more time I would have expanded more into my
website as such with a couple more pages etc. I think I should have planned the time more
efficiently and improving this by writing out a time management plan beforehand which was a set
schedule for when I needed to have handed in each PowerPoint, this could be an idea for my
future projects to come especially with university. Another negative point from my production
work was the wix site in general, I normally don’t struggle with this because I have had previous
experience with this site, and I know a lot about most of the tools shown. However, I had
moments where the wix site wouldn’t load for around 20 minutes or when I was on the site things
such as my own photography images struggle to fit onto the page meaning I had to crop my
images making them a lot blurrier and zoomed in which didn’t look as good as I would have liked.
Overall, I wouldn’t say I had as many negative points, I had a lot more challenges which I was able
to resolve and more so good points to my project these negative points did affect my project
slightly, but I have still managed to come out with the exact outcome I wanted to achieve.
How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of
poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating]
• Overall, I would rate my outcome to both the website and social media page at a ‘good’ this is
because I was very happy with what I have achieved within myself I have also managed to create
something which reflects onto my planning this is something I was aiming to achieve. I think parts
to my outcome such as the website design and the photography which I had taken for my
Instagram really matched well together to fit in with the aesthetic, my product as a whole links in
well with my demographic audience in several ways which I believe is a strong point when
creating products. However, I still always believe that within my work there is room for
improvements which could even be the smaller things such as adding edits to my titles or adding
the extra color scheme on a page or even creating more pages. I personally, think this is a clear
rating for my product overall because I haven’t rated it at the highest or lowest around the middle
so I would still be able to add in much more for it to reach excellent, although I would have liked
to rate it higher, I'm not quite sure if it has reached the full protentional and only my results can
prove this.
What is your opinion of your final piece? What
elements do you think are successful and why?
• I am very happy with my outcome to my project; I think it looks good and I am impressed with what I have
managed to create over a period. I think it looks realistic towards my audience type and stands out from many
other brands, I think an element to my products which are successful is firstly the fact I created a meaning
behind my brand and an awareness to my audience around mental health because this reveals the audience are
going to feel a lot more connected to the brand on a personal level this is something I have been wanting to
achieve. Another successful element to my brand was the colour scheme theme which I had stuck with since
talking about this from my planning PowerPoints, these colours are pink, white and black which are included to
the titles and on some of the clothes and Instagram pages they are also feminine colours to match the
audience.
Another element which I think is successful
is with having a plan beforehand of my
exact layout plans and image style etc. this
is because it will piece together my work
rather than it just being all over the place
and not put well together, I think overall I
am very happy with my outcome to my
final pieces there is smaller bits which I
could add more too or even figure out
more improvements.
How did you design appeal to your target
audience?
Moving on, my design appealed towards my target audience
through the use of the feminine colour scheme I had chosen
which was pink, black and white this was ongoing through the
whole of my products which was a success and this caught my
audience attention because they are interested in this colour
scheme. The models used for my project was also both female I
did this because as it is female clothes, and a female audience
they are more likely going to want to see the models in the
clothes to compare their size. Which leads me to the meaning
behind my project of self confidence and self love,
Which I aimed at my demographic from statistics
through my research work that females are more
likely to feel less confident within themselves
therefore I believed using this type of design and
meaning would appeal to my target audience.
lastly my design was very image based with a lot
of images included I think my audience would be
more interested in seeing these images instead of
a lot of text as to the reason why I decide to do
this.
Analysis
What elements did not go well and why?
• The main elements to my project which didn't go as well as I would have wanted them to
was aspects such as using wix to create my site although this is the well known site which I
have previously used in existing projects as I have gained knowledge on this app, I still
believe there isn't as many options to include things for example when adding an
Instagram to the wix site it will only include the images and not the profile picture or bio if
you don’t have the business account. As I didn't know this I had to also tag my link for the
social media page on my FMP website because you cant see the profile picture on this,
wix is quite a limited website with also creating animations certain ones you don’t have
access too however, I don’t know any other websites to use but this could be something to
look into in the future. Another aspect which didn't go well was the location for my photo-
shoot as I was planning on going to Manchester to take my pictures however with the
distance to travel it became very problematic and I didn't have much free time with
working etc. so I did decide to chose my plan B which resulted in being a lot more
convenient for me. Lastly, I had struggle with image sizing especially when I was exporting
my images from the laptop through one drive to my I phone, this was what I had my social
media account on sometimes the images would be too small and wouldn't fit in the
center.
How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember,
skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation,
time management, communication, etc as well]
• I think my skills developed a lot with my time management because this was something which I
was struggling with because of things such as not having a set schedule like I would have
preferred to do and feeling like I am falling behind with certain PowerPoints etc. however
throughout my project they developed a lot more because of my reflective journal this helped me
with planning out what I was going to do in my next lessons and strengths and weaknesses which
I needed to change. I believe I am a very organised person so when it came to my FMP I made
sure I was prepared before starting I would also use my notes app to write lists of aspects of the
project which I still needed to complete or things which I was leaving for later on, this helped me
a lot and I did feel very organised in the whole of this project. With my previous projects I have
felt the same because I like to get a head start and make sure I am adding as much effort whilst
still being on a time schedule of handing my work in. The main technical skills I had developed
with was Photoshop because I learnt how to edit images with much more detail and not just the
basic aspects, I also found apps using my phone which I learnt how to use and picked up these
new skills which I did use in my product's. I personally wouldn't say I used as much of my
communication skills except for my photo-shoot so these didn't develop as much as the rest.
What meaning and messages did you want to
convey and were you successful?
• My brand had a lot more to it than it may seem, I did include a strong
meaning behind the brand itself which was based around the theme of
self love and mental heath issues, I chose to include this meaning and
message towards my audience because I had previously done a range of
research within my PowerPoint which was focused around these type of
affects and is a big thing in both fashion and social media. I learnt a lot
more deeper meanings behind it which I believed it would be a great
way to tell people everything I have learnt and share this towards my
brands audience, by doing so I created a self love page on my website
which was dedicated to this and mental health. Included on this page
was various images from my Instagram account and facts and inspiration
for my audience to be able to read through for guidance and to inspire
themselves. Another point I wanted to convey was body positivity
through the self love page for my audience to feel confident in my
brands clothes. I believe from my work I was very successful with getting
this message out towards my demographic because I spent a lot of my
time reflecting on this and making sure I had included as much detail. I
was also successful with the outcome to my edited photos with the
inspirational quotes and checklists.
What feedback did you get from your peers
and viewings?
• For my feedback I managed to collect two responses from people around the same age range as my demographic
audience, I had many positives to my products mainly with the quotes used and self-love page which I spent a lot of
time on so this is a strength for me, they also mentioned the colour schemes which I focused on as these a feminine
and appeal to themselves. As I looked I only had one negative feedback which was the improvements part this was
to include men's clothes and that there isn't a large enough selection of clothes which I do agree to an extend as I
could have added more pictures, this is something I can look on to improve within the future however I didn’t
include men's clothing as that wasn’t my target audience focus.
FEEDBACK:
• Abbi:I really like the Instagram website as it is very motivational and it really does make you smile when you are
reading. Also I like the colour theme as it really matches with the clothes that the website sells. Also the website
boosts your self esteem and makes you carry on your day. These quotes on the Instagram page are very
inspirational and make you base your life around the quotes to make ur life more organised and make you feel
better about yourself. Also the clothes on the website are affordable and not too much so it is better for everyone
even if they are on a budget. I don’t think there is any thing on the negative side of this website as I very much like
it.
• Tina: I really like this online store as it its every aesthetic. Also I like the self love page as it is quite personal and
makes my day and brings me motivation to do things and have more self-care and think better about myself. I also
like the layout of the page as it is easy to use and you can get everything with a click of a button and it is not a
hassle. One negative thing about this website is that there isn't as much clothes as I would like and there is no
men's clothing so it is only a use for people who wear girls clothes.
Action Plan
If you were making a similar project in the
future, what would you do differently?
• Although I had made the exact products I wanted to achieve and everything turned out as
planned, if I was to create a similar project in the future I would definitely add in a lot more pages
as such to my website this is because I didn't manage to add as many as I would have liked to due
to the time management and spending a lot more time on the detail to each page because I
would have rather have less pages which included more detail than a range of pages that didn’t
make as sense or come across professional. I would also add in a blog to my website which was
my original plan but when I had come to make this I felt it wasn’t that important or really related
to what a fashion brand would include on their website, from looking into existing products. It
was also very time consuming with my work because with a blog you have to expand a lot of
different posts and detail if I did have the extra time this is something I would consider on
including in. The last thing I would have done differently was within my social media page, this is
because the layout to my images seems very random almost and I would have rather split each
sections on the same days that I would post for example all the quotes would line up together
and all the clothing images would this would give my page are more efficient look and
professional.
How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please
identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example,
webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications.
• For future projects if this is when I am going to university I think I can looking into
many resources which can help me with either the fashion industry which I can
look into web pages that give out facts about fashion and I can develop my skills by
learning a lot more on a deeper level. I also think books have a great imp[act to
fashion and there is a large range of books I have previously looked into so to
explore into this more could help me. To add to this I could develop more future
skills with the success to a fashion brand and advertisement I have also seen many
YouTube tutorials which I did look into in my research PowerPoint on how to sell
clothes online these things can be very useful and could change my opinion on how
to advertise. These through YouTube normally have short course with starting a
business which I could look into trying out for more general advice and help.
Overall, I believe these would help me to learn a lot more within the fashion
industry but also to develop the skills which I have learnt from this current project.
What personal attributes could you develop to
ensure you are working at a professional level?
• From this project I have gained a lot of personal attributes and I can continue to do
this, which link into my organisation because when I begin to create my products I
normally end up spending a lot of time on the bigger thing such as the website and I
end up leaving less time for my social media page this can cause me to fall behind, but
also only end up with one better and detailed outcome. I want to keep working on
this personal attribute and I hope to see improvements for future projects to come, as
this helps me to also work to a higher level if I add more detail into both products.
Another personal attribute I can develop on is my motivation to my work although I
am very motivated with my work especially if I am creating a product around a subject
I enjoy such as fashion I become more interested to learn more. However I think I
haven't reached the full motivational aspect on days when I'm feeling less motivated
or stressed, this will help me work at a higher level because my work will begin to
improve from spending more time on it and being excited to complete the work.

L3 CMPT Y2 Evaluation.pptx

  • 3. What was the theme of your project and what attracted you to it? • The theme behind my project was specifically simplicity because I wanted to create products which are simple but also affective which I believe I managed to achieve. I also think having my project like this was a lot easier to attract my exact demographic. Behind my project had more than just one theme, the theme of what my project showed was a fashion brand that is advertised through its own social media but also relating back to my research I had explored more into my audience research and fashion itself by finding out the effects behind the fashion industry this then made me decided to include positives in my project which included my other theme of #SELFLOVE I carried this throughout both my website and social media page because I wanted to make this awareness known to my audience, I felt this was a great way to connect with my audience and it created a more deeper meaning behind my brand which relates towards myself but also helps my audience. The thing which attracted me to this self love theme was simply from my research as I learnt many meanings behind the role which social media plays within our mental health so I felt this was a must in my project. Furthermore, what attracted me mainly to the simplicity side of things was myself I feel I wanted my project to have a strong connection to myself and I have always liked to created my projects to a minimal as I have done this in my previous projects and carried this theme throughout up to now. I also think looking into existing brands layouts and themes attracted me and inspired me to try these things out and see what I could link with or created, I especially thought my audience demographic would be attracted to these type of themes because they are used a lot within both the fashion industry and brands of websites, social media.
  • 4. What research did you undertake and how did it help develop your project? • For my project I did some undertake on my research work which included a range of different aspects such as audience, market, topic and production which I found very useful because I had managed to learn many new techniques or even just facts about either my audience or the subject arear, I was focusing into which was a strength to me. I had begun by looking into audience research this included exploring into my demographic audience such as the Instagram reach rankings and who is most likely to have these apps, this reflected onto my own project because I was then able to use this into my Instagram account by knowing certain aspects I would focus on such as the design side, but also if I had chosen a good demographic audience. Although I already know quite a lot into the Instagram advertising and such it was a strength for me to still explore this even for just a better understanding to my audience. Furthermore, I also explored the website design statistics on what people think about certain design people have or what they prefer to see on a website which I focused on my age range for this because I wanted to be creating something that will satisfy with my audience. I felt it was necessary to look at shopping statistics as well between men and women and who is more likely to shop in store or online and shopping trends among 18–26-year-olds I did this because it is a great way to explore more into my audience and really be able to back up my evidence for why I am producing things in a certain way which I believe comes down to my research a lot.it also helps me to spot certain aspects which are important to my brand things which I include would be more likely to grab my audience attention to my products.
  • 5. • Moving on from this, I also undertook market research which I had explored into many existing products these had an huge impact on my project because I was able to compare each brand on the qualities they have or don’t have such as being design based or even the type of information they include or how they advertise differently from another brand. I feel this is important to me because it reflects on how I can include this into my own products and it has inspired me to want to created that extra more for example linking back to my project I looked into existing products and found a brand which took a lot of responsibility to their sustainability to the clothes they make this reflected onto me and I felt I could include something such as a selflove page because it creates a much larger meaning behind my brand. Overall, my existing products helped to develop my project because I have been able to achieve a lot more and I added a range of ideas to my brand which I wouldn’t have known before I undertook my research. The next subject I explored into through my research was my topic research this involved finding out behind the fashion industry because I believe this is something I never touched on before doing this project and I felt it would impact the products a lot more. I looked into the ugly side of things within the industry which impacted on how I viewed fashion, I then chose to reflect on social media such as the influence which Instagram has and also the role social media can play with mental health because these are important subjects I think were a must for me to explore but also because I ended up reflecting this into my brand by posting daily quotes which helped others who follow my social media because this was a role I gained from my research. The last part towards my research was the production research this was a strength because I was able to use these tips when it came to my production work which I did, I learnt new things as well and included them. Overall, I think as a whole my research has helped me to not only gain one thing but several different parts to each subject I explored which I then used onto my project and linked into how I did this I also linked back a lot of these new things through my reflective journal.
  • 6. What was the outcome of the project/task? • The outcome to my project was my fashion brand which includes both a website to advertise my clothing and brand itself and a social media Instagram page. The website included 7 pages which were home, self love, about, shop new, contact, insta shop and store policy throughout these pages my aim was to advertise and promote my brand to my demographic audience which I believe was successful. Included onto my social media page was 19 pages, each page is detailed with a range of photography images that relate to my brand or is content which attracts and appeals towards my audience type. I was also successful to the outcome of the pages on the social media account which are motivational quotes because I felt I had gotten my point across and through one of the website pages which is dedicated to self love, throughout the whole of my planning I have kept with the same outcome idea which is to create a fashion brand that reflects me and what I am passionate. This is a topic which I have kept with throughout every single project and is something I aspire to continue to create in the future. I also linked my social media to my website to also advertise it through there which I think stood out very well and linked well together.
  • 8. How did you feel about the project before you started? • Before starting my FMP project, I was very excited but at the same time a bit nervous on how fast it has come around since finishing my previous project. As this project depends a lot with my final grades and determines my future with university, I knew I wanted to be prepared for it because I was going to put my all into the work. I was excited because when it comes round to the fmp projects these are the ones which you chose the theme and subject of what they are going to be about which I like to do most this is because its something I am interested in. Therefore, I can think of different ideas beforehand and gather a plan together as it also relates to aspects, I want to create in the future which excites me more. However, I did feel a bit less motivated before starting this is mainly because of the fact I had just finished another project and was moving straight onto the next which can be a lot to take in and I did put a lot more pressure on myself because of it being the last final project I felt it had to be the best yet. Once I had began the project, I did become more motivated when switching from a project I didn’t quite understand to one which I am more intrigued by was a positive for myself.
  • 9. What do you think about your project development and how did it help you to refine your idea? • I had a lot of project development through my project which was very successful, this includes looking into other website which are fashion brand and adding in my own ideas which I could develop and create into a lot more than just a simple idea. When creating my self love pages I didn't have a firm choice of everything I was going to include on the page, and I hadn't made any links through my social media page however by looking into other existing products and audience research I found this was an important subject I found facts and interviews which helped me develop more of an idea to my project. I would say at the beginning of my project I didn't have a firm choice on what exactly I would create how I was going to layout my pages but with all of the research I have gathered in my PowerPoints and within my planning, I have been able to pick together different ideas into one. I think this is very important because it shows how much my planning has made an impact to my production and development. As I have worked independently it can be harder to figure out all of the plans and development I wanted to achieve on my own with no support, however I have managed to do so just by looking back at all of my planning I also looked back at my reflective journal because this shows a lot of development to my production. Work.
  • 10. Did you collaborate on your project or engage contributors, etc? • Within my project I didn’t include any kind of collaboration, because I felt this wasn’t something I wanted to do however I did include one contribute which was my sister Abbi, she helped me with my photoshoot production work and was both the model when taking photographs, we took turns for being both the model and photographer, which was a good technique because I resulted in getting every picture or shot type which was needed, and I had planned this beforehand in my pre-production PowerPoint. Overall, this was a good experience to include other contributors I believe it helped me to gain more skills within teamwork through my project by another person helping me out with my production and I think without this help I wouldn’t have done as well with getting as many shots, or all o the different shot types I wanted to include I would have also not had a model for the shoot. Another aspect within my project was the google forms question I had created ‘what visually comes to mind when you think of the word luxe?’ I was able to receive several responses which was great feedback from my audience which I then reflected on in my pre-production PowerPoint, this also helped me to chose this name for the brand as I was struggling beforehand to think of one and because I could create meaning behind it from my exact responses.
  • 11. How did you feel when the project was completed and why? • Once I had finished my project, I was overall feeling very relieved with having finally finished everything I have been working on over a long period of time. However, I was still feeling a bit worried and stressed this is mainly because I was worrying about smaller details such as if I had forgotten anything which I should have included or if I could have added a lot more into the project because I do tend to overthink those things. Also, when I had received my feedback to the project so far, I did have improvements to be made which also made me anxious to how this would affect my grade, but I did manage to make as many improvements as I could with the time I had left, and I then got these checked with my tutor to make sure I had completed the correct amount and everything I could do so. I was very happy with my PowerPoints because I had left some time to act upon those for any last-minute improvements which I made these impacted a lot more onto my project I believe because I expanded this a lot. I believe I had put all my effort and hard work into this project, so I was happy to be able to finish knowing that, with also needing certain qualifications for my university applications I do feel a bit on edge if I wasn’t to receive this, although being told I am achieving a high grade it did still add a bit more pressure to making sure I stick with this and continue to add as much detail as I could possibly do so. As of now I am still feeling on-edge as I can oly wait for my results for my grade.
  • 13. What were the good points about the project/task and what did you learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible] • Throughout my project I have had quite a lot of good points such as my reflective journal log this was very useful to me this is because I would type up after each lesson or week on how my project was going and weaknesses and strengths I have come across . This had a huge impact to my project because I noticed improvements to my work when I got closer to the end of my production this was purely because I had logged weaknesses in my log which I knew I needed to improve on myself, and I had found the issues to these problems to resolve. I had also taken many screenshots which I added into the log for backup on how I had exactly been creating everything and each specific aspect. The second good point to my project was my photography side of things especially when I had taken both of my photoshoots this is because I was very happy with how every picture had turned out, I also think I had taken a range of pictures a lot more than I had needed which was a strength for my products as I could use some of the for back up incase, I needed more this is better than not having enough images and having to arrange more photoshoots. As well as the help from the contributions of having a model for my shoot was another good point to my work. The last good point to my project was my research PowerPoint I believe I put a huge amount of effort into this by expanding into 4 different sections of my research and I managed to pick up a lot of new skills and learn new things, which I did then include into my production and final product. It also made me understand more of fashion as a topic and that there is many different sections to it or even so that there is problems which do occur, such as the model industry which I explored and the affects which social media create through mental health I expanded this and included it into my product.
  • 14. What challenges did you face and how did you respond to them? Try and think of at least 3... • A challenge to which I faced was whilst using photoshop I had a problem with my image size when uploading pictures or pieces of text on this page, this is because I didn’t make the inches large enough which caused everything to look too blurry, however I didn’t realise this until uploading onto my social media account it looked unprofessional and was very hard to read through. I responded to this challenge by asking my tutor for some advice on what the issue could be or if it was photoshop in general, I sooner found out my image size had been set way too small so by adjusting this I was able to add in my fonts etc. and they were no longer blurred. The second challenge which I faced was cutting my images out with photoshop this is because when using the magic tool, they looked very uneven and didn’t seem very appealing when looking at my outcome of the image therefore I resulted to not continuing this type of editing I had given up with this tool, until I remember the lasso tool which is used to cut out the backgrounds by hand. Using this tool was more efficient and eye catching to my audience with a smoother finish which was great. The last challenge which I came across through my project was when I used the wix site and whilst editing this I tried to achieve a slideshow animation of the font at the top of my website this was to show the 20% off signs I wanted them moving across the page, the problem with this was I was unsure on how to create this, I responded to this by searching through YouTube tutorials and managed to find one which isn’t exact but close to it this one included more of an animation than the words moving across fully which I was still very happy with.
  • 15. What were the negative points about the experience, and what could you have done to improve them? • I believe a negative point towards my experience with this project is my time management although I have been able to hand everything in and I am on track for my final grade, I do feel this is a slight negative to my work because if I had more time I would have expanded more into my website as such with a couple more pages etc. I think I should have planned the time more efficiently and improving this by writing out a time management plan beforehand which was a set schedule for when I needed to have handed in each PowerPoint, this could be an idea for my future projects to come especially with university. Another negative point from my production work was the wix site in general, I normally don’t struggle with this because I have had previous experience with this site, and I know a lot about most of the tools shown. However, I had moments where the wix site wouldn’t load for around 20 minutes or when I was on the site things such as my own photography images struggle to fit onto the page meaning I had to crop my images making them a lot blurrier and zoomed in which didn’t look as good as I would have liked. Overall, I wouldn’t say I had as many negative points, I had a lot more challenges which I was able to resolve and more so good points to my project these negative points did affect my project slightly, but I have still managed to come out with the exact outcome I wanted to achieve.
  • 16. How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating] • Overall, I would rate my outcome to both the website and social media page at a ‘good’ this is because I was very happy with what I have achieved within myself I have also managed to create something which reflects onto my planning this is something I was aiming to achieve. I think parts to my outcome such as the website design and the photography which I had taken for my Instagram really matched well together to fit in with the aesthetic, my product as a whole links in well with my demographic audience in several ways which I believe is a strong point when creating products. However, I still always believe that within my work there is room for improvements which could even be the smaller things such as adding edits to my titles or adding the extra color scheme on a page or even creating more pages. I personally, think this is a clear rating for my product overall because I haven’t rated it at the highest or lowest around the middle so I would still be able to add in much more for it to reach excellent, although I would have liked to rate it higher, I'm not quite sure if it has reached the full protentional and only my results can prove this.
  • 17. What is your opinion of your final piece? What elements do you think are successful and why? • I am very happy with my outcome to my project; I think it looks good and I am impressed with what I have managed to create over a period. I think it looks realistic towards my audience type and stands out from many other brands, I think an element to my products which are successful is firstly the fact I created a meaning behind my brand and an awareness to my audience around mental health because this reveals the audience are going to feel a lot more connected to the brand on a personal level this is something I have been wanting to achieve. Another successful element to my brand was the colour scheme theme which I had stuck with since talking about this from my planning PowerPoints, these colours are pink, white and black which are included to the titles and on some of the clothes and Instagram pages they are also feminine colours to match the audience. Another element which I think is successful is with having a plan beforehand of my exact layout plans and image style etc. this is because it will piece together my work rather than it just being all over the place and not put well together, I think overall I am very happy with my outcome to my final pieces there is smaller bits which I could add more too or even figure out more improvements.
  • 18. How did you design appeal to your target audience? Moving on, my design appealed towards my target audience through the use of the feminine colour scheme I had chosen which was pink, black and white this was ongoing through the whole of my products which was a success and this caught my audience attention because they are interested in this colour scheme. The models used for my project was also both female I did this because as it is female clothes, and a female audience they are more likely going to want to see the models in the clothes to compare their size. Which leads me to the meaning behind my project of self confidence and self love, Which I aimed at my demographic from statistics through my research work that females are more likely to feel less confident within themselves therefore I believed using this type of design and meaning would appeal to my target audience. lastly my design was very image based with a lot of images included I think my audience would be more interested in seeing these images instead of a lot of text as to the reason why I decide to do this.
  • 20. What elements did not go well and why? • The main elements to my project which didn't go as well as I would have wanted them to was aspects such as using wix to create my site although this is the well known site which I have previously used in existing projects as I have gained knowledge on this app, I still believe there isn't as many options to include things for example when adding an Instagram to the wix site it will only include the images and not the profile picture or bio if you don’t have the business account. As I didn't know this I had to also tag my link for the social media page on my FMP website because you cant see the profile picture on this, wix is quite a limited website with also creating animations certain ones you don’t have access too however, I don’t know any other websites to use but this could be something to look into in the future. Another aspect which didn't go well was the location for my photo- shoot as I was planning on going to Manchester to take my pictures however with the distance to travel it became very problematic and I didn't have much free time with working etc. so I did decide to chose my plan B which resulted in being a lot more convenient for me. Lastly, I had struggle with image sizing especially when I was exporting my images from the laptop through one drive to my I phone, this was what I had my social media account on sometimes the images would be too small and wouldn't fit in the center.
  • 21. How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember, skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation, time management, communication, etc as well] • I think my skills developed a lot with my time management because this was something which I was struggling with because of things such as not having a set schedule like I would have preferred to do and feeling like I am falling behind with certain PowerPoints etc. however throughout my project they developed a lot more because of my reflective journal this helped me with planning out what I was going to do in my next lessons and strengths and weaknesses which I needed to change. I believe I am a very organised person so when it came to my FMP I made sure I was prepared before starting I would also use my notes app to write lists of aspects of the project which I still needed to complete or things which I was leaving for later on, this helped me a lot and I did feel very organised in the whole of this project. With my previous projects I have felt the same because I like to get a head start and make sure I am adding as much effort whilst still being on a time schedule of handing my work in. The main technical skills I had developed with was Photoshop because I learnt how to edit images with much more detail and not just the basic aspects, I also found apps using my phone which I learnt how to use and picked up these new skills which I did use in my product's. I personally wouldn't say I used as much of my communication skills except for my photo-shoot so these didn't develop as much as the rest.
  • 22. What meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful? • My brand had a lot more to it than it may seem, I did include a strong meaning behind the brand itself which was based around the theme of self love and mental heath issues, I chose to include this meaning and message towards my audience because I had previously done a range of research within my PowerPoint which was focused around these type of affects and is a big thing in both fashion and social media. I learnt a lot more deeper meanings behind it which I believed it would be a great way to tell people everything I have learnt and share this towards my brands audience, by doing so I created a self love page on my website which was dedicated to this and mental health. Included on this page was various images from my Instagram account and facts and inspiration for my audience to be able to read through for guidance and to inspire themselves. Another point I wanted to convey was body positivity through the self love page for my audience to feel confident in my brands clothes. I believe from my work I was very successful with getting this message out towards my demographic because I spent a lot of my time reflecting on this and making sure I had included as much detail. I was also successful with the outcome to my edited photos with the inspirational quotes and checklists.
  • 23. What feedback did you get from your peers and viewings? • For my feedback I managed to collect two responses from people around the same age range as my demographic audience, I had many positives to my products mainly with the quotes used and self-love page which I spent a lot of time on so this is a strength for me, they also mentioned the colour schemes which I focused on as these a feminine and appeal to themselves. As I looked I only had one negative feedback which was the improvements part this was to include men's clothes and that there isn't a large enough selection of clothes which I do agree to an extend as I could have added more pictures, this is something I can look on to improve within the future however I didn’t include men's clothing as that wasn’t my target audience focus. FEEDBACK: • Abbi:I really like the Instagram website as it is very motivational and it really does make you smile when you are reading. Also I like the colour theme as it really matches with the clothes that the website sells. Also the website boosts your self esteem and makes you carry on your day. These quotes on the Instagram page are very inspirational and make you base your life around the quotes to make ur life more organised and make you feel better about yourself. Also the clothes on the website are affordable and not too much so it is better for everyone even if they are on a budget. I don’t think there is any thing on the negative side of this website as I very much like it. • Tina: I really like this online store as it its every aesthetic. Also I like the self love page as it is quite personal and makes my day and brings me motivation to do things and have more self-care and think better about myself. I also like the layout of the page as it is easy to use and you can get everything with a click of a button and it is not a hassle. One negative thing about this website is that there isn't as much clothes as I would like and there is no men's clothing so it is only a use for people who wear girls clothes.
  • 25. If you were making a similar project in the future, what would you do differently? • Although I had made the exact products I wanted to achieve and everything turned out as planned, if I was to create a similar project in the future I would definitely add in a lot more pages as such to my website this is because I didn't manage to add as many as I would have liked to due to the time management and spending a lot more time on the detail to each page because I would have rather have less pages which included more detail than a range of pages that didn’t make as sense or come across professional. I would also add in a blog to my website which was my original plan but when I had come to make this I felt it wasn’t that important or really related to what a fashion brand would include on their website, from looking into existing products. It was also very time consuming with my work because with a blog you have to expand a lot of different posts and detail if I did have the extra time this is something I would consider on including in. The last thing I would have done differently was within my social media page, this is because the layout to my images seems very random almost and I would have rather split each sections on the same days that I would post for example all the quotes would line up together and all the clothing images would this would give my page are more efficient look and professional.
  • 26. How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example, webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications. • For future projects if this is when I am going to university I think I can looking into many resources which can help me with either the fashion industry which I can look into web pages that give out facts about fashion and I can develop my skills by learning a lot more on a deeper level. I also think books have a great imp[act to fashion and there is a large range of books I have previously looked into so to explore into this more could help me. To add to this I could develop more future skills with the success to a fashion brand and advertisement I have also seen many YouTube tutorials which I did look into in my research PowerPoint on how to sell clothes online these things can be very useful and could change my opinion on how to advertise. These through YouTube normally have short course with starting a business which I could look into trying out for more general advice and help. Overall, I believe these would help me to learn a lot more within the fashion industry but also to develop the skills which I have learnt from this current project.
  • 27. What personal attributes could you develop to ensure you are working at a professional level? • From this project I have gained a lot of personal attributes and I can continue to do this, which link into my organisation because when I begin to create my products I normally end up spending a lot of time on the bigger thing such as the website and I end up leaving less time for my social media page this can cause me to fall behind, but also only end up with one better and detailed outcome. I want to keep working on this personal attribute and I hope to see improvements for future projects to come, as this helps me to also work to a higher level if I add more detail into both products. Another personal attribute I can develop on is my motivation to my work although I am very motivated with my work especially if I am creating a product around a subject I enjoy such as fashion I become more interested to learn more. However I think I haven't reached the full motivational aspect on days when I'm feeling less motivated or stressed, this will help me work at a higher level because my work will begin to improve from spending more time on it and being excited to complete the work.
