Project Overview
In this section you will outline the aim of the project/task and give an
overview of the activates you undertook to complete it.
What was the theme of your project and
what attracted you to it?
• The theme of my project was food. In York there are hundreds of restaurants waiting to seat people but even
from personal experience I find it hard to pick a good place with a good price range. Because the project was
targeted between 16–24-year-olds, I found it much easier to research just how much people struggle to find
a nice place to eat with the money they have. Students supposedly struggle with money more because they
have college, and they must find a job with little to no experience.
• I’ve always had a fascination about food advertisements and how they are made and how they draw people
in so that’s why I decided to make my own food advertisements to help the people find a place that they can
finally eat. I feel like its good to get a proper meal down you rather than constantly snacking on fast food,
especially while you are still growing.
• Another reason I chose food is because It’s everywhere and there’s too much of it, It puts pressure on
people to choose because there’s just too many options. With the ones I have chosen it rounds down the
amount people have to chose from and these restaurants I have chosen, They offer a wide range of dishes so
people can try out many different things, Even vegetarian and vegan options.
What research did you undertake and how
did it help develop your project?
• Firstly I did some target research, first a demographic of York’s population and demographics about York it’s self,
figuring out how popular York actually is based on density and the space of living for people. I then did
demographic research on the amount of visitors to York per year and the type of people that have been going to
York. Lastly I found out how satisfied people were with their visit to York and how likely they are to recommend
York as a place to visit. I also ended up doing some social media demographic research to find out the average age
range of users and how popular certain social medias were. I lastly did some specific research just for the target
audience to find out what I’m really working with. All this research contributed towards my project as it gave me a
vast idea to look out for when creating my idea and what would be the most efficient way to reach out specifically
to the target audience.
• For my actual idea it’s self, I had a few ideas on mind maps but I stuck to two main ideas before choosing the final
idea. The first main idea was to make a walking tour guide, making an app with real time stats of the restaurants
and York with a built in map so people could tour York, night or day. I didn’t really have to do much research apart
from finding out how the restaurants are rated and the price for them per head. For my second idea I thought of a
social media scheme where I’d make adverts for Instagram and posters and advertise the restaurants themselves so
people could give feedback whenever they want and with the built in map in peoples phones and the locations on
the posts, people can easily track down the places while having a look around York as well. This way if gives people
an opportunity to see what people have to offer. I conducted research about Instagram to find out what kind of
advertising would reach to people the most and what is trendy enough for people as well. I also found out that
people can also indirectly promote things through different platforms as well which can increase efficiency and use
of my project. The research I did here helped me decide what is best to make and how to efficiently reach out to
the target age range.
How did you develop and improve your ideas
throughout the project?
• My initial Idea was to make a social media account and make advertisements and posters to
promote the chosen restaurants. Social media I feel is probably the more effective way to reach
out to the target audience as they are statistically the most active online. By making a social
media as well I can make active polls for people to share their thoughts on how they handle
finding a place to eat and if my work is helpful or not.
• Another Idea I had was to make a walking tour guide of York instead but I felt what it wasn’t really
the best idea as it felt like it would have been more fitted for an older age range. The target age
range are very hard people to impress therefore it has to be something more to their taste in
order to grab the attention needed. From this I made the social media scheme which was a
massive improvement and also felt easier to work with as well as I am part of the same age range,
I know what the people want.
What was the outcome of the project/task?
• The outcome of my project has mostly been successful, creating 4/5 of the advertisements and 5
completed posters.
• I also received positive feedback through my personal account from friends and followers
thanking me for making food hunting in York easier for them. People were amazed by the
creativity of the advertisements and how all of it was made at home.
• The social media account is now being used by friends and followers of mine to navigate their way
around York and explore places as they head to the restaurants.
• My Adverts can be viewed either on YouTube now or on Instagram and people can give feedback
either by commenting or direct contact.
• Another positive outcome was that people shared and spread the word of my work and people
genuinely had a great experience out in York, alone or with friends. Although no one comments
on the actual project account I’m glad to have people thank me directly.
Personal Response
This section will explore your thoughts and feelings about the
experience. This will help gain a understand of how your personal
feelings may have impacted the final outcome.
How did you feel about the project before
you started?
• I was motivated to do this project because it’s a help towards my future career. I
didn’t feel that confident as this is something a lot different compared to last
years projects. I wasn’t fond of the Idea of this project at first, I’ve never made a
tour guide as complex as this before. When starting the actual project, I was kind
of lost for ideas because I felt like it was kind of hard to grasp the attention of 16-
24-year-olds then it suddenly hit me when I thought of Instagram.
• I wasn’t fond of doing the research part honestly, I do find it boring but it’s for a
good cause so I stuck it through and did as much as I could to progress forward in
my project.
What do you think about your project development and
how did it help you to refine your idea?
• I think that the development of my project was overall excellent , and I was able
to conduct research about the target audience on social media and find out ways
to draw in the audience easily.
• I wasn’t happy with doing mind maps of ideas and I already really made up my
mind between two ideas that I had before I even did research. I Guess in a way
though it did help me make a clearer decision and knock off other ideas I thought
wouldn’t work as well.
Did you collaborate on your project or engage
contributors, etc?
• I did the project alone and the only people who really helped were
the people who gave me feedback on my polls and final product.
• I did respond to some people with more advice about my project and
what it has to offer but I can’t really think of anything else what
would have helped me.
How did you feel when the project was
completed and why?
• I felt satisfied when the project was completed. I was happy to make most of the
advertisements and advertise them on Instagram for people to see. I was glad to
have helped people find a place to eat and that they could get the proper
nutrition needed. I probably would have been sad if things didn’t turn out how
they did, I feel like helping people is always a rewarding thing to do.
• I’m glad to have also ended this project because I am excited for the next project
this year. As much as I liked doing this project, It wasn’t really my type of thing in
the end.
Evaluating the project
In the previous sections, you have been commenting upon the project development. The
evaluation may include some similar information but it will also include critical comment.
An evaluation must include information about the good and bad points of the project and it
is important to be honest. Finally, you should make a judgment about the effectiveness of
the success of the project
What were the good points about the project/task and what did you
learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible]
• One good point about my project would have to be the idea development. Just thinking of ideas and
branching off of them really made me think about how all of them would work in different scenarios
and what would really stick out to the target audience and I had to learn about certain things in order
to make an idea of mine further developed. I feel like it was really essential to go through each idea
and work out the possibilities that could come from each one. The development also helped me think
about general statistics to help me prove what Idea is most effective.
• Another good point about my project would be the active feedback I got from people. I really learned
that feedback is a key way to mold my idea into something that’s not only better but also what people
are looking for from the idea that I did. Feedback was also another way that I could learn to properly
communicate to people in a professional manner. Learning to talk and give a proper response to a
viewer I feel is a good way to become more professional as marketers have to face this kind of thing on
a daily basis.
• Lastly another good point about my project would be the research. Although it was 50/50 in my
opinion, it was extremely helpful to learn about the demographics about York and the people who
either live there or visit there because it gave me a better understanding about what this project
means. I honestly didn’t really get it at first but when I really dove into the research and learned what I
could about marketing to the target audience about York it became clear how much it really takes to
make this kind of advertising, there's so much thought and statistics needed to make this work and I’m
glad I managed to research what I could otherwise I think I probably would have done a lot worse.
What challenges did you face and how did you
respond to them? Try and think of at least 3...
• One of the main challenges I faced were filming the actual advertisements. It wasn’t easy as I had
to constantly re film parts and find the right time to do them without people being in the way.
Another thing about filming was that it was just a lot harder to do on my phone with the quality
not being as good as a normal camera. And lastly another issue with filming is that it was hard to
keep the camera still so I had to stabilize a lot of the clips meaning I was limited to me editing
because I can only have so many effects on after stabilizing.
• Another thing that was hard to do was edit the clips. I had a lot of technical issues putting all the
clips together and even editing was an issue. My project was delayed a little bit due to a few file
corruptions meaning I had to go back and film again before putting everything into one piece.
What were the negative points about the
experience, and what could you have done to
improve them?
• I think the only negative things I can really think of is how annoying
making some of the adverts became. Some of the files became
corrupted or some files ended up not working properly which meant
re-recording things again with less resources than the first time. Some
adverts didn’t turn out as I hoped but overall was okay. Another thing
would probably be the timing, because of the minor inconveniences
that happened it gave me less time to fully complete 5 adverts and it
really didn’t make me happy, I would have liked to have made 5
adverts because then it would have been something else for people
to look forward to.
How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of
poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating]
• I think overall I’d probably have to say my project was good, it would
have said excellent if I got everything done and had no issues making
the adverts but from the research and the development of my ideas
and the finalizations before the actual making of the project I felt
were really good.
What is your opinion of your final piece? What
elements do you think are successful and why?
• In my personal opinion I felt like the final piece was okay, like I said
before if I could have made my final advert I would have been really
happy with the outcome but the other adverts still managed to pull
people in and the posters were able to give a general idea of when
the places are open and the average price etc. I personally think that
the bills advert was my favorite to make as it was just really easy and
simple. I also feel like it was the most successful of the adverts as it
really seemed to make people happy.
How well did your project apply the characteristics
and conventions of the medium you worked in?
• I feel like my project really surrounded the idea reaching out to the
target audience by giving them what they want. I sought out to make
my project as trendy as possible, modernized and funky. The target
audience are hard to please but it’s easy to find out what they like as
it is literally plastered all over social media, the more someone likes
something the more it is advertised. Overall I think that what I did
applied to the target audience really well
How did you design appeal to your target
audience?
• From the feedback I was given by others, Most people believed that
me designs for my posters were really appealing to them and that just
the amount of colours and vibrance from some of them really caught
their attention well. For the adverts themselves people really like how
all the foods really stuck to type of restaurant and that they thought it
was really creative of how I made them in my own home. I believe the
Little Italy poster was the crowds favorite and same with the little
Italy advert.
Analysis
In this section, you will focus on the details of the project and make
sense of what happened in the project. You should demonstrate how
your decisions informed the project development and the success of the
outcome.
In what ways was the overall project a
success?
One way my project was a success is that it reached out to the target
audience as intended and that it received the right kind of feedback
needed in order to conclude how efficient it was.
Another way my project was a success would probably be because of
the research. The research really gave my a clear base to work on and
develop the right kind of idea for my project. Also by doing polls and
finding out how people of the target age felt about finding places to eat
in York really helped out as well because I could then just make the
adverts and posters as helpful as possible.
What elements did not go well and why?
• Specifically the editing didn’t go as I wanted in some parts. I really
wanted the Star inn advert to be completely different but I just didn’t
have the resources or time to make it better, I also wasn’t happy with
how I edited it and a lot of the files were lost in the end so I ended up
working with limited shots.
• Another element that didn’t go well is that there was a few issues
when trying to edit the little Italy advert, there was only so much that
I could do on it and I wished I could have added more to it and made
it a little longer and better.
How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember,
skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation,
time management, communication, etc as well]
• I feel like I was a little better at my time management compared to a
lot of the projects from last year and I also feel like I developed more
of a sense around using premiere especially I didn’t really use it too
much last year as well. I think another thing I picked up on was that I
was able to organize my work a little better as well. I prefer keeping
my work in one space so I'm not having to constantly find scattered
PowerPoints or work and I felt like it worked out easier for people to
read too as everything is there so everything can be seen at once
which got me feedback quicker.
What meaning and messages did you want to
convey and were you successful?
• The meaning of my project was to help people find somewhere to eat
and enjoy with other people as well as getting a proper fill of food
rather than cheap fast food and the messages I was trying to convey
would have been to just enjoy yourself while you are young.
Education isn’t easy and eating someplace nice I feel is a good way to
take off the edge.
• I feel like what I was trying to convey was mostly successful as people
were pleased with how helpful my project was and that it was a good
way to destress but I also think that in a way people just saw it as
advertisement and only that too.
What feedback did you get from your peers
and viewings?
• Most people gave feedback saying that it was helpful finding a place
to eat and that the restaurants picked were absolutely lovely.
• Everyone I got feedback from said that the places picked were
reasonably cheap and were affordable which made them happy
because they didn’t have to worry about eating cheap food.
• Some people mainly just commented on my work it’s self and how
creative it all was and some people even gave ideas for me to do
more which I'm assuming people want more recommendations which
shows me they are willing to go out more if they got more from my
work.
What would you do differently in the future
and why?
If I could do something differently, it would have to be make more
adverts but do restaurants I haven’t even gone to myself so it’s
completely new and I can experience things for myself and give myself
feedback on my own project.
Another thing would probably be include the posters in the adverts as
one. As much as I liked doing two separate things I feel like it would
have been cooler to combine the two and make longer but more
interesting adverts.
What knowledge have you gained that would help you in the
future to improve your project? Also, what knowledge from
academic literature and professionals has helped and why?
• I have gained a lot of knowledge about specifically making adverts
and new ways to make adverts unique. I watched a lot of
professionals make their own adverts and took notes on how to
advertise specific things and how to bring out that specific item in an
advert.
• Another thing I gained would be how to advertise more professionally
as well. Social media platforms give advice to marketers in order to
boost their ideas across to the entire platform and I also researched
ways to seem more professional as well when posting on platforms. I
feel like this helped me reach out to the people that I did as it just
showed me how to be professional even though I’m not an actual
professional and people even said that it looked professional in a way.

This section will identify what you would do differently in the future and
identify ways you could develop.
If you were making a similar project in the
future, what would you do differently?
• I would definitely make longer adverts, Even though most adverts are
really short I felt like my adverts could have given so much more. I
was originally going to make them longer but there just wasn’t
enough time to make them as long.
• Another thing id do differently is choose a different platform to work
on, even though Instagram was a good idea I feel like I could have
probably done even better if I used something like tiktok.
How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please
identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example,
webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications.
• Id probably work on my editing skills for suture projects. As
mentioned before there was only so much I could do and even
though I did learn more from using it I feel like I could do so much
more if I just develop that skill.
• Another thing I would develop on would be marketing, I feel like I
need to communicate more and really sell my idea to people rather
than just luring them in, I really need to go for the catch and excite
people over it and make them spread the word. I feel like advertising
is best when you really make someone excited over the smallest
thing.
What personal attributes could you develop to
ensure you are working at a professional level?
• I would probably research into professional advertisement and try
develop my skills and camera skills so I can make smoother shots and
better transitions between shots. I feel that would be a good start and
If I keep working on it I could probably make much better level work
than I did in this project.
• Id also take it upon myself to develop better communication skills, by
this I mean sound like my advert is the real deal and its serious. I
think by working on this I could not only make the adverts look
professional but sound like it was made by a professional.

  • 3. Project Overview In this section you will outline the aim of the project/task and give an overview of the activates you undertook to complete it.
  • 4. What was the theme of your project and what attracted you to it? • The theme of my project was food. In York there are hundreds of restaurants waiting to seat people but even from personal experience I find it hard to pick a good place with a good price range. Because the project was targeted between 16–24-year-olds, I found it much easier to research just how much people struggle to find a nice place to eat with the money they have. Students supposedly struggle with money more because they have college, and they must find a job with little to no experience. • I’ve always had a fascination about food advertisements and how they are made and how they draw people in so that’s why I decided to make my own food advertisements to help the people find a place that they can finally eat. I feel like its good to get a proper meal down you rather than constantly snacking on fast food, especially while you are still growing. • Another reason I chose food is because It’s everywhere and there’s too much of it, It puts pressure on people to choose because there’s just too many options. With the ones I have chosen it rounds down the amount people have to chose from and these restaurants I have chosen, They offer a wide range of dishes so people can try out many different things, Even vegetarian and vegan options.

What research did you undertake and how did it help develop your project? • Firstly I did some target research, first a demographic of York’s population and demographics about York it’s self, figuring out how popular York actually is based on density and the space of living for people. I then did demographic research on the amount of visitors to York per year and the type of people that have been going to York. Lastly I found out how satisfied people were with their visit to York and how likely they are to recommend York as a place to visit. I also ended up doing some social media demographic research to find out the average age range of users and how popular certain social medias were. I lastly did some specific research just for the target audience to find out what I’m really working with. All this research contributed towards my project as it gave me a vast idea to look out for when creating my idea and what would be the most efficient way to reach out specifically to the target audience. • For my actual idea it’s self, I had a few ideas on mind maps but I stuck to two main ideas before choosing the final idea. The first main idea was to make a walking tour guide, making an app with real time stats of the restaurants and York with a built in map so people could tour York, night or day. I didn’t really have to do much research apart from finding out how the restaurants are rated and the price for them per head. For my second idea I thought of a social media scheme where I’d make adverts for Instagram and posters and advertise the restaurants themselves so people could give feedback whenever they want and with the built in map in peoples phones and the locations on the posts, people can easily track down the places while having a look around York as well. This way if gives people an opportunity to see what people have to offer. I conducted research about Instagram to find out what kind of advertising would reach to people the most and what is trendy enough for people as well. I also found out that people can also indirectly promote things through different platforms as well which can increase efficiency and use of my project. The research I did here helped me decide what is best to make and how to efficiently reach out to the target age range.
  • 6. How did you develop and improve your ideas throughout the project? • My initial Idea was to make a social media account and make advertisements and posters to promote the chosen restaurants. Social media I feel is probably the more effective way to reach out to the target audience as they are statistically the most active online. By making a social media as well I can make active polls for people to share their thoughts on how they handle finding a place to eat and if my work is helpful or not. • Another Idea I had was to make a walking tour guide of York instead but I felt what it wasn’t really the best idea as it felt like it would have been more fitted for an older age range. The target age range are very hard people to impress therefore it has to be something more to their taste in order to grab the attention needed. From this I made the social media scheme which was a massive improvement and also felt easier to work with as well as I am part of the same age range, I know what the people want.

What was the outcome of the project/task? • The outcome of my project has mostly been successful, creating 4/5 of the advertisements and 5 completed posters. • I also received positive feedback through my personal account from friends and followers thanking me for making food hunting in York easier for them. People were amazed by the creativity of the advertisements and how all of it was made at home. • The social media account is now being used by friends and followers of mine to navigate their way around York and explore places as they head to the restaurants. • My Adverts can be viewed either on YouTube now or on Instagram and people can give feedback either by commenting or direct contact. • Another positive outcome was that people shared and spread the word of my work and people genuinely had a great experience out in York, alone or with friends. Although no one comments on the actual project account I’m glad to have people thank me directly.
  • 8. Personal Response This section will explore your thoughts and feelings about the experience. This will help gain a understand of how your personal feelings may have impacted the final outcome.
  • 9. How did you feel about the project before you started? • I was motivated to do this project because it’s a help towards my future career. I didn’t feel that confident as this is something a lot different compared to last years projects. I wasn’t fond of the Idea of this project at first, I’ve never made a tour guide as complex as this before. When starting the actual project, I was kind of lost for ideas because I felt like it was kind of hard to grasp the attention of 16- 24-year-olds then it suddenly hit me when I thought of Instagram. • I wasn’t fond of doing the research part honestly, I do find it boring but it’s for a good cause so I stuck it through and did as much as I could to progress forward in my project.

What do you think about your project development and how did it help you to refine your idea? • I think that the development of my project was overall excellent , and I was able to conduct research about the target audience on social media and find out ways to draw in the audience easily. • I wasn’t happy with doing mind maps of ideas and I already really made up my mind between two ideas that I had before I even did research. I Guess in a way though it did help me make a clearer decision and knock off other ideas I thought wouldn’t work as well.

Did you collaborate on your project or engage contributors, etc? • I did the project alone and the only people who really helped were the people who gave me feedback on my polls and final product. • I did respond to some people with more advice about my project and what it has to offer but I can’t really think of anything else what would have helped me.
  • 12. How did you feel when the project was completed and why? • I felt satisfied when the project was completed. I was happy to make most of the advertisements and advertise them on Instagram for people to see. I was glad to have helped people find a place to eat and that they could get the proper nutrition needed. I probably would have been sad if things didn’t turn out how they did, I feel like helping people is always a rewarding thing to do. • I’m glad to have also ended this project because I am excited for the next project this year. As much as I liked doing this project, It wasn’t really my type of thing in the end.
  • 13. Evaluating the project In the previous sections, you have been commenting upon the project development. The evaluation may include some similar information but it will also include critical comment. An evaluation must include information about the good and bad points of the project and it is important to be honest. Finally, you should make a judgment about the effectiveness of the success of the project
  • 14. What were the good points about the project/task and what did you learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible] • One good point about my project would have to be the idea development. Just thinking of ideas and branching off of them really made me think about how all of them would work in different scenarios and what would really stick out to the target audience and I had to learn about certain things in order to make an idea of mine further developed. I feel like it was really essential to go through each idea and work out the possibilities that could come from each one. The development also helped me think about general statistics to help me prove what Idea is most effective. • Another good point about my project would be the active feedback I got from people. I really learned that feedback is a key way to mold my idea into something that’s not only better but also what people are looking for from the idea that I did. Feedback was also another way that I could learn to properly communicate to people in a professional manner. Learning to talk and give a proper response to a viewer I feel is a good way to become more professional as marketers have to face this kind of thing on a daily basis. • Lastly another good point about my project would be the research. Although it was 50/50 in my opinion, it was extremely helpful to learn about the demographics about York and the people who either live there or visit there because it gave me a better understanding about what this project means. I honestly didn’t really get it at first but when I really dove into the research and learned what I could about marketing to the target audience about York it became clear how much it really takes to make this kind of advertising, there's so much thought and statistics needed to make this work and I’m glad I managed to research what I could otherwise I think I probably would have done a lot worse.
  • 15. What challenges did you face and how did you respond to them? Try and think of at least 3... • One of the main challenges I faced were filming the actual advertisements. It wasn’t easy as I had to constantly re film parts and find the right time to do them without people being in the way. Another thing about filming was that it was just a lot harder to do on my phone with the quality not being as good as a normal camera. And lastly another issue with filming is that it was hard to keep the camera still so I had to stabilize a lot of the clips meaning I was limited to me editing because I can only have so many effects on after stabilizing. • Another thing that was hard to do was edit the clips. I had a lot of technical issues putting all the clips together and even editing was an issue. My project was delayed a little bit due to a few file corruptions meaning I had to go back and film again before putting everything into one piece.

What were the negative points about the experience, and what could you have done to improve them? • I think the only negative things I can really think of is how annoying making some of the adverts became. Some of the files became corrupted or some files ended up not working properly which meant re-recording things again with less resources than the first time. Some adverts didn’t turn out as I hoped but overall was okay. Another thing would probably be the timing, because of the minor inconveniences that happened it gave me less time to fully complete 5 adverts and it really didn’t make me happy, I would have liked to have made 5 adverts because then it would have been something else for people to look forward to.
  • 17. How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating] • I think overall I’d probably have to say my project was good, it would have said excellent if I got everything done and had no issues making the adverts but from the research and the development of my ideas and the finalizations before the actual making of the project I felt were really good.
  • 18. What is your opinion of your final piece? What elements do you think are successful and why? • In my personal opinion I felt like the final piece was okay, like I said before if I could have made my final advert I would have been really happy with the outcome but the other adverts still managed to pull people in and the posters were able to give a general idea of when the places are open and the average price etc. I personally think that the bills advert was my favorite to make as it was just really easy and simple. I also feel like it was the most successful of the adverts as it really seemed to make people happy.

How well did your project apply the characteristics and conventions of the medium you worked in? • I feel like my project really surrounded the idea reaching out to the target audience by giving them what they want. I sought out to make my project as trendy as possible, modernized and funky. The target audience are hard to please but it’s easy to find out what they like as it is literally plastered all over social media, the more someone likes something the more it is advertised. Overall I think that what I did applied to the target audience really well
  • 20. How did you design appeal to your target audience? • From the feedback I was given by others, Most people believed that me designs for my posters were really appealing to them and that just the amount of colours and vibrance from some of them really caught their attention well. For the adverts themselves people really like how all the foods really stuck to type of restaurant and that they thought it was really creative of how I made them in my own home. I believe the Little Italy poster was the crowds favorite and same with the little Italy advert.
  • 21. Analysis In this section, you will focus on the details of the project and make sense of what happened in the project. You should demonstrate how your decisions informed the project development and the success of the outcome.
  • 22. In what ways was the overall project a success? One way my project was a success is that it reached out to the target audience as intended and that it received the right kind of feedback needed in order to conclude how efficient it was. Another way my project was a success would probably be because of the research. The research really gave my a clear base to work on and develop the right kind of idea for my project. Also by doing polls and finding out how people of the target age felt about finding places to eat in York really helped out as well because I could then just make the adverts and posters as helpful as possible.
  • 23. What elements did not go well and why? • Specifically the editing didn’t go as I wanted in some parts. I really wanted the Star inn advert to be completely different but I just didn’t have the resources or time to make it better, I also wasn’t happy with how I edited it and a lot of the files were lost in the end so I ended up working with limited shots. • Another element that didn’t go well is that there was a few issues when trying to edit the little Italy advert, there was only so much that I could do on it and I wished I could have added more to it and made it a little longer and better.
  • 24. How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember, skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation, time management, communication, etc as well] • I feel like I was a little better at my time management compared to a lot of the projects from last year and I also feel like I developed more of a sense around using premiere especially I didn’t really use it too much last year as well. I think another thing I picked up on was that I was able to organize my work a little better as well. I prefer keeping my work in one space so I'm not having to constantly find scattered PowerPoints or work and I felt like it worked out easier for people to read too as everything is there so everything can be seen at once which got me feedback quicker.
  • 25. What meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful? • The meaning of my project was to help people find somewhere to eat and enjoy with other people as well as getting a proper fill of food rather than cheap fast food and the messages I was trying to convey would have been to just enjoy yourself while you are young. Education isn’t easy and eating someplace nice I feel is a good way to take off the edge. • I feel like what I was trying to convey was mostly successful as people were pleased with how helpful my project was and that it was a good way to destress but I also think that in a way people just saw it as advertisement and only that too.

What feedback did you get from your peers and viewings? • Most people gave feedback saying that it was helpful finding a place to eat and that the restaurants picked were absolutely lovely. • Everyone I got feedback from said that the places picked were reasonably cheap and were affordable which made them happy because they didn’t have to worry about eating cheap food. • Some people mainly just commented on my work it’s self and how creative it all was and some people even gave ideas for me to do more which I'm assuming people want more recommendations which shows me they are willing to go out more if they got more from my work.
  • 27. What would you do differently in the future and why? If I could do something differently, it would have to be make more adverts but do restaurants I haven’t even gone to myself so it’s completely new and I can experience things for myself and give myself feedback on my own project. Another thing would probably be include the posters in the adverts as one. As much as I liked doing two separate things I feel like it would have been cooler to combine the two and make longer but more interesting adverts.
  • 28. What knowledge have you gained that would help you in the future to improve your project? Also, what knowledge from academic literature and professionals has helped and why? • I have gained a lot of knowledge about specifically making adverts and new ways to make adverts unique. I watched a lot of professionals make their own adverts and took notes on how to advertise specific things and how to bring out that specific item in an advert. • Another thing I gained would be how to advertise more professionally as well. Social media platforms give advice to marketers in order to boost their ideas across to the entire platform and I also researched ways to seem more professional as well when posting on platforms. I feel like this helped me reach out to the people that I did as it just showed me how to be professional even though I’m not an actual professional and people even said that it looked professional in a way.

If you were making a similar project in the future, what would you do differently? • I would definitely make longer adverts, Even though most adverts are really short I felt like my adverts could have given so much more. I was originally going to make them longer but there just wasn’t enough time to make them as long. • Another thing id do differently is choose a different platform to work on, even though Instagram was a good idea I feel like I could have probably done even better if I used something like tiktok.
  • 31. How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example, webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications. • Id probably work on my editing skills for suture projects. As mentioned before there was only so much I could do and even though I did learn more from using it I feel like I could do so much more if I just develop that skill. • Another thing I would develop on would be marketing, I feel like I need to communicate more and really sell my idea to people rather than just luring them in, I really need to go for the catch and excite people over it and make them spread the word. I feel like advertising is best when you really make someone excited over the smallest thing.

What personal attributes could you develop to ensure you are working at a professional level? • I would probably research into professional advertisement and try develop my skills and camera skills so I can make smoother shots and better transitions between shots. I feel that would be a good start and If I keep working on it I could probably make much better level work than I did in this project. • Id also take it upon myself to develop better communication skills, by this I mean sound like my advert is the real deal and its serious. I think by working on this I could not only make the adverts look professional but sound like it was made by a professional.
