All pupils will be able to write a PEE paragraph,
incorporating the idea of connotation and
denotation. Students will have scaffolding, such
as writing sheets and models.

 Writing your own PEE paragraph

Writing their own PEE paragraphusing the idea of connotationanddenotation – students
will learnthe definition of connotation and denotation, applyingit toa PEE paragraph.
Studentswill learn what PEE is, showing a model and a writing frame.

Lesson Plan pro forma Class: 7NE (mixed ability sets) indicate levels of attainment Date: 26/2/2016 Time: 09:45 – 10:50 No. of pupils: 30 Unit /SoW: Persuasive Writing Unit – Connotation and Denotation Key Learning Goals: ref. to exam board criteria/NC as appropriate … in pupil-friendly format: LO: To understand the meaning of connotation and denotation and to write a P.E.E paragraph Expected Learning Outcomes: all pupils? some pupils? a few pupils? All pupils will be able to write a PEE paragraph, incorporating the idea of connotation and denotation. Students will have scaffolding, such as writing sheets and models. Opportunities for Assessment: Formative & summative  Task – drawing an animal and 3 adjectives  Teacher questioning  Annotating adverts  Writing your own PEE paragraph Cognitive challenges: Desirable difficulties for all abilities; how will students progress? Writing their own PEE paragraphusing the idea of connotationanddenotation – students will learnthe definition of connotation and denotation, applyingit toa PEE paragraph. Studentswill learn what PEE is, showing a model and a writing frame.
