ROUTE 80 - THE ROAD TO BOUDIN EXCELLENCE
The Route 80 activity for August 2013: Boss for a Day.
The purpose of the Wall of Fame activity is to inspire employees by
recognizing their achievements and sharing those achievements with their
peers.
With positive reinforcement, we can create a positive workplace where
employees enjoy coming to work. Here are signs of a positive work
environment:
Relaxed and productive atmosphere. People enjoy coming to work
and feel appreciated, acknowledged, and rewarded. Productivity
flourishes in this type of environment.
Commitment to excellence. Everyone gives 110% and strives to be
the best, delivering top-quality product and service.
Open and honest communication. Everyone communicates clearly
in order to solve difficulties in a positive manner. Both positive and
negative feedback are perceived as an opportunity for growth.
Cooperation, support, and empowerment. Can-do, go-the-extra-
mile, and win-win attitudes are evident. Employees have a sense of
camaraderie, cooperation, and empowerment. Healthy competition
exists without vengeful, spiteful attitudes.
Sense of humors. Employees keep things in perspective, have fun,
and laugh.
Flexibility. Management and employees embrace change,
accommodate new trends and technology, and incorporate new skills.
Positive reinforcement. People need acknowledgment, appreciation,
and gratitude to be motivated.
Keep an eye out for these signs to ensure we’re the employer of choice!

FORGET ME NOT FARM
Boudin SF|Santa Rosa partnered with Forget Me Not Farm, a
division of the Human Society & SPCA of Sonoma County, for a
fundraiser in August!
Boudin donated over $750 in proceeds and provided helpful
exposure for the organization within the community. We are
supporting the young Farm participants by providing kids from
traumatic backgrounds with gentle guidance and reassuring,
rewarding experiences with sanctuary animals and production
garden.

CULTURE FEEDBACK
Here’s what some of our
employees from Boudin
SF|Stockton thought of the
Boss for a Day activity:
“Being a Manager of the day
was a great experience for me. I
started the day looking over
survey scores and emails with
John. I learned so much from
what we need to work on as a
store and the great need to be
precise when doing BiRite
orders. John (Williams) also
took me on a catering order
delivery, which was something I
have never done at Boudin
before. I had fun and I now
realize that it takes a lot of
perseverance, time management, and positivity to be a Manager that is able to run the store
smoothly. Moving up into a Supervisor’s position interests me and I believe that I have what it takes
to be given more responsibility and to run my own shifts.”
- Ria Denise Hinautan, Guest Service Representative
“During the Manager for the Day training we did, I had a really great experience. I learned a lot
about what it means to be a Manager. Between the interviews I participated in, the catering John
and I delivered, and reviewing different scores we’ve received, I definitely have a more of an
appreciation for what the Managers do, especially because I know that this was just a small portion
of everything they do. I feel that this experience is a good insight to what our Management does and
all that their contributions do to keep our store running smoothly and efficiently.”
- Taylor Schaffner, Guest Service Representative
POSITIVE CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
As a company, Boudin strives to provide
the best customer service possible. Here
are some customer success stories:
A customer visited Boudin SF|Metro
Pointe for a “neat, presentable, and
delicious meal” with “outstanding”
service that she had to make an effort to
let us know! Every employee there was
helpful and cheerful and is “thankful for
the great experience” and is looking
forward to her next visit.
Mark Thielman, Manager of Boudin
SF|Santa Rosa, was commended on his
generosity for donating bread to Elisha’s
Pantry and the Redwood Gospel Mission
in a weekly basis. Shift Supervisors
Rebecca Klain and Fillipo Vengco were
both helpful when organizing bread for
the local pantry as well!
Thanks to all our employees who are
dedicated to providing great service
and displaying Boudin Excellence!
Boudin SF|Sacramento celebrated their
new Guest Service Representative, Eboni
Samuel’s birthday with a birthday card and
Boudin giftcard! Everyone sang happy
birthday to her and Eboni later received a
$20 tip from a customer for doing a great job
on her birthday!
