  1. 8. Optional anonymity - Encourage real identities, but allow opt-out - should be able to post anonymously
  2. 9. A la carte - Even short learning objects should be catalogue-able - cataloguing metadata for all discrete learning objects - make metadata accessible and searchable by the user  
  3. 10. ID please - Identify on-screen elements with codes, names and icons
  4. 11. Mix and match - Support composeable learning objects - system supported composition includes e.g. aggregating up completion  
  5. We created a platform specifically to support these kinds of designs Video walkthrough – normal speed version available at http://www.uq.edu.au/cipl/imp-patterns
  6. So how does Blackboard go?
  7. Implementation patterns trial Hired a contract Blackboard developer to redevelop a course in Blackboard We provided them with the content and the patterns, but did not mandate the layout or UI Vanilla Blackboard Learn 9.1 sp10 No custom code or plugins Full details of how the course was built are available on our website As is a video walkthrough of the finished course Thank you to Blackboard Australia for providing a hosted instance for this project
  8. An angel on my shoulder statically published could get hard to maintain not state based not personalised Therefore possibly not as convincing
  9. missing from some screens Also some quiz states where no messaging is available but still valuable
  10. Small steps - OK except sequencing only partially supported
