2. PURPOSE
• Difficulties in network analysis during
balanced wheat stone bridge determination
• Difficulties in solving unbalanced Wheatstone
bridge

3. Advantages of star-delta rule
• We need not take care of ratio of the sides
and to determine which resistor will be
omitted
• Very easy to solve unbalanced Wheatstone
Bridge networks

4. What is delta form
when three resistances are connected in
form of a triangle it is called delta

5. What is star form
When three resistance are connected in the
form of Y or inverted Y it is called star form

6. Star to delta conversion formula
• The replacement of delta or mesh by equivalent
star connection is known as delta - star
transformation. The two connections are
equivalent or identical to each other if the
resistance is measured between any pair of lines.
That means, the value of resistance will be the
same if it is measured between any pair of lines
irrespective of whether the delta is connected
between the lines or its equivalent star is
connected between that lines.
