The student discusses how their magazine uses conventions of real magazines such as having a date, bold title, contests, and images. They developed conventions by using one color backgrounds and multiple images. The student represents their target audience of teens to early 20s through the models used. They would be distributed by Billboard since they have experience with music magazines. 6. Q2 :HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
Gender:
My magazine is targeted for both male and females, but mainly females (as I have more models who are
female, rather than male), aged between early teens to early twenties.
It would attract the attention of people who are interested in country music, but also having a
collaboration, would also get people interested in other genres to wider out the audience.
The colour scheme for my magazine is pale blue, black and white. This can also represent being aimed at
males and females as those colours are neither gender specific, none of the colours are represented for their
gender. This is also what my target audience chose for my survey, so I stuck with it.
7. Q2: HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
Age:
My magazine represents age through the models I have used. As they are teenagers, this
inspires younger teens to look up to them, whereas people of the older generations would
listen to the music and feel young.
Although country music has fans with a big age range, I have clearly subverted this stereotype, as
existing country music magazines have told me that the older generation artists are most likely to be on
the front cover. I have subverted that stereotype, as my models show.
8. A Country Music Magazine called “Hot Country Songs” is a chart
published weekly by Billboard magazine.
Q3: WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
Billboardbiz distributes different types of online
music magazines such as Hip hop, R&B, Pop and
Country so they are more than experienced with
distributing my chosen genre of magazine.
Billboard is an American entertainment media
brand owned by the Hollywood Reporter-
Billboard Media Group, a division of Eldridge
Industries. Famous for publishing pieces such as
news, videos, opinions, reviews, events and styles.
It’s also known for it’s music charts, including
Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200.
9. Q3: WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
UC Up Country is a monthly magazine who distribute
themselves by using radio’s, televisions and social media
platforms to help be advertised more. They present wealth of
information about Country Music & Line Dance,
including events, classes and much more.
This is also an online magazine where you can
download their music for free.
You can also subscribe to their online website
to keep updated with new arrivals on music.
This is not the kind of distributer that I would
want distributing my magazine because they
only seem to distribute one type of genre of
music.
10. I will be advertising to my target audience mainly through the internet, radio and television.

Interview
From doing research about what my target audience looks for
in a magazine, I learned:
- That not everyone’s the same and have different ways they
like to read a magazine article
- Lot’s of people like different colours, but country magazines
are meant to be a plain colour with bold writing.
- The viewers know best.
