2. A little bit about me
-My name is Jack Rodesano
-I love listening to music
-I am here to show you my idea for a
new and exciting magazine for bands
located in North London
-This magazine is called Smooth Tunes
4. This is because…
-I personally believe it’s underrated
-It’s more unique compared to the
amount of rap, rock, pop and hip hop.
5. Form
-The front cover will have the title, price, an image of the
main band being interviewed and show the unique selling
point.
-The inside will feature interviews and updates on jazz
bands and promote/advertise jazz.
-This will have 100 pages.
7. Why
-Photoshop is to create the magazine
-DaFont is for the different font styles
-FireAlpaca is to draw the background
8. I will also need
-A computer
-A camera set (camera, SD card and tripod)
-A photographer team
-A editor
-A writer
-A proof reader
9. Fonts
-I plan to use the same fonts for both versions
of the magazine unless they are difficult to
read in a certain version.
Writingtext
Headline text
Main titles
10. -Prestige Elite Studio is for regular text
-Reprise Rehearsal is for headlines and
quotes
-Phosphate is for main titles
11. Distribution
-The Physical version will be £4.99, they will
be available in stores and bundle
subscriptions online at a discount.
-The digital version will have two versions,
the first one Is £2.99 and will not include the
poster, the second will and it will cost £4.49.
12. More information
-Subscriptions will cost £19.99 for a 6 month delivery
package which sends the next 6 issues directly to a
customers door.
-If the magazine is successful and has enough sales, about
a year or two after the first issue a second subscription
will be made. This one has every single Smooth Tune issue
so long as they are 4 months old at a £6.99 price.
13. Website
-The website is a way to access questions audiences will
have.
-It will have order information and help.
-It will have a way to order the magazines.
-It will feature the subscription service
14.
15. Age Demographics
-First of all, the primary audience will
be adults aged anywhere from 30 – 50.
-The second age demographic will be for
elderly aged 65+.
16. Demographics
-I have also made the decision that this
magazine is not for a specific gender,
race, class or ethnicity. This magazine is
intended for everyone.
17. Marketing
-I plan for the marketing to have the front cover
mention that they will find out something they
never knew about the jazz music industry in each
issue.
- I also plan to have advertisements on apps such
as Instagram and Facebook for the primary
audience and newspapers for the secondary.
18. The main idea
The magazine will feature interviews of
upcoming jazz bands located in North
London, however, there’s a small twist,
I will interview them twice. There will
be one interview during production and
one after the song/albums success, my
sample will only include one of them.
19. Why Upcoming?
-In today’s industry, it is nearly
impossible to become famous for even
15 minutes
-I want to spread awareness of under
appreciated bands
20. Purpose
-The purpose of this magazine is to not
only educate and inform readers on
their band’s personal thoughts but also
learn something about the (jazz) music
industry. It will also promote and
advertise the upcoming bands featured
in the magazine.
21. Content
-Double page interview spreads (3-4) spreads per
interview
-Advertising and promotion of concerts, albums,
merchandise, etc. of upcoming bands.
-A look into the Jazz industry for new artists and how it
operates in todays world
-How a new generation can take over the mantle of
the previous jazz generation.
22. Unique Selling Point
-The unique selling point is a simple but
affective piece. With each magazine,
an exclusive poster of one of the bands
being interviewed will be included.
Collectors and fans will love this as
collectors get to have something
exclusive and fans get to put their
favorite band on the wall.
23. Colour Schemes
The colour scheme I have chosen is
blue, gold and white.
-This is because blue and white are
naturally calm colours which I feel
represents jazz. Gold is due to Jazz
constantly being associated with the
colour gold.
24. Competition
-Jazz magazines are a competition like any other product
-To stand out I have included a unique selling point and a
unique type of interview
-If this magazine gets a lot of attention the subscription
service will expand and help make this magazine more
unique
25. Sample Material
-Here is my first concept for what the front cover and
double page spread could look like:
