2. Planning
My idea for my Vox Pops was to get four to five individuals and
ask them questions similar to the ones that featured in my
questionnaire research. I thought it would be best to ask four to
five people as this way it would give me a good depth of answers
to work with and get a good understand of what my target
audiences thinks, wants and likes about music videos.
3. Equipment
Before I went out to film my vox pops, I needed to
gather equipment together in order to film it.
Originally, I had planned to use my Sony RX1
camera to film the vox pops but the battery on the
camera wouldn’t charge so I was unable to use this
camera. It meant instead that I had to use a lower
quality video recording camera and that could harm
the quality of the final Vox pop production. Luckily
though I was able to source a tri-pod so the shots
would be steady when filming the people for my
vox pops.
4. Preparation
Now that I had gathered my occupants that
would take part in my vox pops as well as the
questions I would be asking and the equipment
that I would use I then had to find an
appropriate place to film. To begin with, I
decided to start filming my vox pops in a quiet
secluded classroom within the school to prevent
any background noise and to ensure that the
audio was clear and easy to hear.
5. Filming Process
Having found a quiet room I was then able to begin asking my
peers the pre prepared questions, some of which I had taken
from my questionnaire. I asked everyone the same questions
and was able to get back varied responses. As I would be
editing the vox pops afterwards in Adobe Premiere I made
sure I gave them plenty of time even during filming to answer
the questions as thoroughly as they could. Some of the
answers weren’t relevant or helpful and if this was the case
then they would be edited out at a later stage once filming is
finished. I had a bit of an issue with the room I had chosen to
do my vox pops half way through filming as there ended up
being a lesson taking place, meaning I had to find a new room
to film the final two of my vox pops.
