2. After Effects Experiment
• I used after effects to create a short animated logo, this will be
used for the current project as well as future projects.
• The animation is around 6 seconds long, and includes two text
features. The first one is simply ‘Bertie’s media’. This is the
very first thing you see as you watch the animation, and this
will be at the start of every video I make throughout this year.
I then took the next step and also put the title of my Factual
work (‘Tattoos and body piercings’), so it is custom to the
video. This is the only variable I will have when using this
animation.
• To create this logo, I watched a YouTube video explaining how
to use after effects to create a short animation. This showed
me how to get a circle to animate, more specifically – the
circle begins as a curved line, but meets itself after creating a
circle shape. After I had done this, I got the hang of how to use
after effects, I added in an effect on the next title too. It is the
same style of animation, but this time in a rectangle shape.

3. Microphone Audio Experiments
• When planning, I decided to
use my cameras microphone
to record the audio as it
saves time. I am going to be
filming inside college but I
wasn’t sure where the best
place to be was. I needed to
be somewhere that very few
people would go to, and
there wont be a lot of sound.
I walked around college and
recorded some spots I
thought could be plausible to
film an interview, here is the
data that I collected when
doing so.

The first place I went to
record audio was the front
of college, I thought this
was a potentially good spot
as there were very few
people during lesson time,
but the sound of the wind
After this, I decided to go
to the side of college by
the construction centre.
This was a reasonably
quiet spot as there were
not many people during
lesson time and cars only
occasionally drove past,

The next location I went to was the
bottom floor of college in the seating
area, this location was okay – but I
went during a lesson so it was very
quiet. If I was to film my interview
during lesson time it would work out
fine, but during a break or lunchtime
this would be one of the loudest
places in college.
The fourth and final location I went
to was the corridor on floor 2. this
was a very quiet spot during a
lesson, and very few people were
walking through. If I was to find a
spot out of the way this would be
the best location to film my
interview.
5. Poster Experiments
I decided that I wanted to make a poster for my documentary, I think by doing this I can
achieve a more authentic looking design.
I started by finding posters of documentaries I have researched and analysed. I looked at
the size of each one in a photoshop file and will create my own with the same sizes.
I created some mock up posters for my Web –
Doc, I did this by finding other posters similar
to my own and copying them into a new
photoshop file.
Once I had found out the size of the image, I
found a picture that had similar dimensions
and put it into photoshop to edit.
In the photo on the left, I decided to add in my
final title from my animation, doing this makes
the title obvious to whoever is looking.
I also added in ‘Bertie’s media’ at the bottom of
the image to give a more professional look, and
used the eyedropper tool on the neck tattoo in
the image for the colour.
Once I had done this, I decided that a border
would suit the image and give it a more
finished design. I used a simple black design.
