2. Genres
Images to use: For the front cover I
may use a medium long distance shot
of one or many of the artists as well as
using a variety of different shots for the
contents page as well.
Metal/Heavy
Target Audience:
This magazine will most likely be aimed
towards younger audiences such as
teenagers or adults in their early
twenties hence the choices of genres
which usually appeal to this age group.

Colour Scheme Ideas:
For the colour scheme of my magazine, I intend
to make it stand out from other magazines but at
the same time use some darker colours for the
background, to allow the other features of the
magazine to stand out e.g. the title and the
stories such as a dark red and black/blue colour
scheme and a possible white/yellow colour
scheme for the text on the front and contents
page. Having a variety of colours for my colour
scheme is also good as it will make it more
appealing to the audience.
Typography:
Using informal text mostly,
making it interesting for the
target audience – variety of
different fonts used to make
it look different from other
magazines. As with most
music magazines, inclusion
of interviews, quotes from
various artists as well as lots
of stories about the artists
listed.
3. Target audience:
(age range, interests)
The general target audience I am aiming at for this music magazine is most likely going to be teenagers from the ages of 14 to 18 as well
as young adults from the ages of 25 and under and that will have some sort of interest in drum and bass, electronic and/or rock music as
well as the artists that are associated with this genre. As I am appealing to a vast audience, I will need to make sure that the magazine is
appropriate for that target audience.
Possible title ideas:
(masthead / title block)
What is your magazine going to be called?
I have a variety of ideas for the title of my music magazine. Some of these possible title ideas that I may have for my music magazine
include: - Symphonic, Bassed, Based, Pace, Electronik, Inception, Contrive, Psychotic, Snake, Wrath, Control, Rigged, Explosive, Rampant,
Swift, Fleet, Spright, Initiate, Eclipse.
Main image:
What will be the focal point of your front page, remember, your work
The main image that I will be using on the front page of my music magazine is going to be a medium shot of one of the artists featured in
the magazine.
Main cover line:
What will be the main story?
The main story in my music magazine that will be the cover line of this magazine is going to be ‘Best Beats of the Week’, which will be
showcasing the best or the most popular songs of each genre of that specific week.
Additional key images:
What other images will be on your front cover?
The additional key images that I could include on my front cover may include musical instruments such as drums or maybe a guitar.
Additional cover lines:
Other features, stories or selling points which will be inside the magazine,
these need to be audience appropriate.
Some additional cover lines that I could include in my music magazine could include:
Stride Far’s Newest Release
Exclusive interview with State Chase

Sub-Genre rockets to success
Typography:
(style, size, colour of copy)
Think about the writing and the style of the writing on your front page.
The style of the writing that I am going to be using on the front page of my music magazine is most likely going to be informal writing to
appeal to my target audience, possibly using a font that includes some form of bubble writing or graffiti style font. The size of the font will
be fairly large but not too big so that it stands out on the magazine but doesn’t fill it up completely so there are room for other features
such as pictures etc. The colour scheme that I will most likely use will include a variety of different colours such as different shades of red,
white and also yellow.
Background colour/image:
What will be in the background, remember you don’t want to take the focus
away from the main image.
The background colour for my music magazine is will most likely be a gradient of a darker colour, since the typography will most likely be
bright and lighter so having a contrasting background may be useful as it would allow the other features of the magazine such as the
masthead, subheadings and other pictures to stand out and be clear to anyone reading my music magazine. However if I were to use an
image instead of a gradient colour for the background, it would most likely be an image relating to the genre to keep it topical and
appropriate. The image I may have could be a drum kit or any other instrument that relates to the genre of music in the magazine.
Technical considerations:
(equipment, setting, props, costume, lighting)
Be realistic and creative, think about what you have access to and how you
could use it.
The technical considerations I may have for my music magazine would be the setting of the images that I may use. I may need to consider
this to make sure that the image is at its best quality and is easy to edit when I come down to doing this on Photoshop at a later date. I
also may need to use appropriate costumes in the images to go with the genre of my music magazine, making sure that they interlink and
make sense when they are put onto a music magazine.
Double Page Spread:
(what will be the main article in your magazine?)
This will need to be the main story on your cover, what detail will be
featured inside?
For the double page spread of my music magazine, I will have a main article of best beats of the week, which will basically be describing
the best songs of the week from that specific genre, which ones are the most popular and ratings of the songs categorised into top 10,
which are decided in a poll by the readers of the magazine. These run downs of the songs will also include the successes the artists in
particular have had and also a run down of who they are and what songs they have made.
