Plant Engineer- March 2015-till date.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To lead a team of engineers, supervisors and technicians during Maintenance,
breakdown and overhauling of turbines, generator and cooling water system.
Responsible for preventive maintenance of four turbines and generating units, 250
mw each.
Responsible for major overhaul of each turbine and generator after every 8500 hours
of operation.
Senior Mechanical Engineer-October 2010- March 2015 (approx 4 yrs)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities as an Erection Engineer:
Cooling Water System (CWS):
o Installation and erection of 6 units of CWS- 4 main and 2 standby units
o Installation of primary, secondary pumps, heat exchangers and hydro cyclones for
CWS
Drainage and Dewatering System (D&D):
o Installation of Drainage pumps for removal of water seepage, dewatering pumps
for dewatering of Penstock and Draft tube and flood pumps for emergency
situation.

2. Compressed Air System:
o Installation of screw type compressors and storage tanks for Compressed Air
System for Shaft Seal Locking other auxiliary purposes such pneumatic valve
operation etc.
Shaft Seal System:
o Installation of shaft seal pumps(AC and DC) along with filtration system for shaft
seal locking in turbines.
Erection and Installation of piping, valves and instruments for the CWS, D&D,
Compressed Air System and Shaft Seal System.
Commissioning of the CWS,D&D, Compressed air System and Shaft Seal System.
Responsible for onsite Project planning, Manpower planning and management, Material
management for CWS, D&D, Compressed air System and Shaft Seal System.
Turbine (4*250MW)
o Erection, alignment and levelling of following component and related systems:
 Turbine runner, shaft and generator couplings.
 Guide Vanes, bearings and lubrication systems.
 Shaft Sealing System
 Motors and related piping system for guide vanes operations.
Responsibilities as a Maintenance Engineer:
o Maintaining maintenance log and developing maintenance schedules for pumps,
heat exchangers, hydro cyclones, shaft seal filtration system.
o Responsible for major overhaul and preventive maintenance of reciprocating air
compressors for station air service and generator air brakes. Maintenance of
drainage pumps for station drainage system, centrifugal pumps for power tunnel
dewatering system.
Responsibilities as an Operations Engineer:
o To monitor the CWS, D&D, Compressed air System and Shaft Seal Systems for
any abnormality, faults and malfunctioning. In case of any discrepancies reporting
and maintaining an operation log -listing possible causes, necessary step
undertaken to deal with the discrepancy and future precaution to avert the
situation.
Miscellaneous
o Responsible for installation and commissioning of in-house workshop (lathe
machine, drilling machine, milling machine etc.) for maintenance purposes.
o Controlling a mechanical workshop equipped with latest machines for repair of
turbines and generator components.
TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES
 The job comprises of trouble shooting and maintenance of centrifugal pumps , reciprocating
compressors, hydro turbines, leakage rectifications from process piping’s and the study of
exchanger, tanks and pressure vesseldrawings.
 Study of piping codes and standards, study of ANSI, ASTM codes and standards and plant
p&ids.
 Experience in the field of vibration analysis and balancing of rotating equipment.
 Demonstration expertise in both the technical arena and predictive maintenance program
development
 Areas of expertise include hydro turbine power generation, rotating equipment, motor current
analysis, and root-cause failure analysis, alignment of different rotating equipment, vibration
analysis.

3.  Commissioning & alignment of centrifugal pumps.
 Periodic Inspection of Pumps & recommending necessary steps to rectify the problem.
 Responsible for attending the problems of excessive high temp of centrifugal pumps drive end
bearing and shearing of pump shaft.
