in Children and Adolescents in
Portuguese Schools
Alice Ramos, Ricardo Borges Rodrigues, Iva Tendais,
Leonor Pereira da Costa, Evelia Alvarez
4. INTRODUCTION – What we aleady know
v However, some deviations have been reported (Alvarez et al., under review)
v Research has shown that the value structure of children closely resembles
that of adults and adolescents
(Bilsky et al., 2013; Collins et al., 2017; Döring et al., 2015; Rodrigues et al., 2016)
v While fewer than ten motivational regions have been found in samples
of children, the four higher-order values could be differentiated in most
cases (Cieciuch et al., 2016)
v Children’s value structures have been considerably less investigated

14. PVBS-C is a potential contribution to schools
for value education at schools as a diagnostic and monitoring instrument that
can also be used to assess the efficacy of interventions;
to assess children’s values in-person and online;
to promote and facilitate the discussion between parents, children, and teachers
around values and their relevance for educational processes and outcomes.
