2. Origin and purpose
Visual Basic was derived from the language BASIC and it
lets the user easily create a „Graphical User Interface“
(GUI), create databases by using data access objects,
remote data objects or ActiveX data objects, as well as
create ActiveX widgets and objects.
3. What is BASIC?
BASIC (Beginner’s All – purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) is a family
of programming languages. It was created as an easy-to-
use programming language and was commonly used on
computers during the ninth decade of the XX century and
still remains popular to this day alongside the many
developed language varieties.
4. Founders of BASIC
The language was conceptualized in 1964 by Dartmouth
college professors John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz
and was brought to life by college students.

5. Main purpose of BASIC
To give the ability to create programs in the designated
time using computer terminals. Unlike other launguages,
BASIC was focused more on simplicity rather than
execution speed.

• „Visual Basic“ is a third generation language, created by
„Microsoft“.
• The program was released for the first time in 1991 and
later was abandoned in 2008.
• „Microsoft“ planned to make the language very easy to
learn and use.
8. „Visual Basic for Applications“
„Visual Basic for Applications“ (VBA) is a branch of Visual
Basic, which is used as a macro or script language using in
various „Microsoft“ programs, including „Microsoft Office“.
