Boosting Skillsets of Youth
in Universities
Manthan Topic: Increasing the
employability of youth
Team: StudentsForChange
75% of technical graduates and 85% of general
graduates in India are unemployable
Issue: 1.India produces 3 million graduates every year yet most of them are
unemployable in the knowledge economy.
2. According to a survey by the International Labor Organization, 48% of Indian
employers face difficulties in filling vacancies.
Reasons:Around 90% do not have the required English proficiency to be employed
in services sector which contributes to 57.5%of GDP.
Academic standards are low in vast majority of the educational institutes.

Conclusions:
1. Unemployability increas with education. Even after aquiring higher
education, the graduates do not have the skills required to be
employed in th eknowledge economy.
2. Sub-paracademic standards lead to low quality graduates.
Thus, we need to bridge the gap between education and employibility of
graduating students.
Solutions:
1. Setting up of a students’ society where speciality courses
and communicative English is taught for free.
2.Professor Training
3.Standard modules for all graduation courses equipped
with multimedia support
