• Bauer Media Group is a multinational media company,
founded in 1875.
• The company publishes popular women’s ‘real life’
magazines such as Take a Break and that’s life! But also
produces popular music magazines Q, first published in
1986 and Kerrang!, launched in 2004.
3. Q Magazine
• Q, when first launched in 1986, was originally owned by
publishing company EMAP but in 2008 all EMAP titles,
including Q, were sold to Bauer Media Group.
• Selling 38 millions prints of their magazines per week,
including Q, Bauer Media Group is undoubtedly one on the
UK’s largest publishing companies.
• The magazine has monthly editions, and the magazine
focuses mainly on artists and most of the magazine’s content
is interviews with famous artists but also contains other
features such as reviews, posters and music news.
• Q distributes on average 52,781 copies per monthly issue.
4. Kerrang! Magazine
• Kerrang! is a music magazine in the UK devoted
predominantly to rock music and is published by Bauer Media
Group.
• The magazine was originally owned by EMAP but was sold to
Bauer Media Group in 2008 along with other EMAP
products.
• First published in 1981 as a one-off in Sounds newspaper
Kerrang! is now one of the best-selling British music
magazine, selling approximately 37,603 copies per issue.
• It began as a monthly magazine but in 1987 the magazine
began to be published weekly.
5. IPC Media
• IPC is a consumer magazine and digital publishing
company, and sells over 350 million copies of their
products each year.
• The company was founded in 1968 and is a subsidiary of
Time Inc.
• IPC is the publisher of popular music magazine NME.
6. NME Magazine
• The magazine is called New Musical Express but is popularly
known by its acronym NME.
• NME is a British weekly music magazine, first published in
1952 as a music newspaper.
• In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music
newspaper and today has an average circulation of 19,491
magazines.
• The magazine is often known for it’s association with punk
rock music, or recently the newly profound genre ‘indie’.
