2. CLAUSE
Is a group of words that contains a subject and verb
Independent Clause : makes sense on its own as sentence
Ex: I go to office
Dependent clause : doesn’t make sense on its own as a
sentence.
Ex : Although I am not feeling well, I go to office
3. INDEPENDENT CLAUSE
Independent Clause : makes sense on its own as sentence. It
consists of Subject and Predicate
Ex:
I go to office
We are Happy
They play football
4. DEPENDENT CLAUSE
Dependent clause : doesn’t make sense on its own as a
sentence.
Ex :
Although I am not feeling well, I go to office
We are happy when we go to the beach
We are going to the store so we can buy some snacks
6. ADJECTIVE CLAUSE
It modifies nouns and pronouns
Ex:
The black box found yesterday
The beautiful girl came to my party last night
7. ADVERB CLAUSE
Modifies verb, adjectives, and adverbs
Ex :
The box found late
The girl came after the party done
8. NOUN CLAUSE
It can identify by asking question : what or who?
Example:
I know that she gets a new job
Question: What do I know?
Answer : That she gets a new job
What you do now is most important
Question: What is most important?
Answer: what you do now
9. NOUN CLAUSE
Usually begins with words like that, what, if, whether, how,
where, who, whom, whose, why, however, whatever,
wherever, whoever, etc.
Example:
She does not know where he lives
They still do not know whether they will win or not
Whatever you do, do it well
10. Phrase
Is a group of words without a subject-verb
component (Not complete sentences)
Noun Phrase (ex: best friend)
Verb phrase (ex: was working)
Adjective phrase (ex: Very pretty)
Adverb phrase (ex: Really slowly)
Preposition phrase (ex: in the beach)
