7. My film will follow a mysterious look. This will be done by taking
away a lot of saturation. I think this will be effective because it lets
the viewer know that the plot of the film isn’t meant to be fun.
Taking away the saturation will give it an eerie look and put the
viewer on edge, making it clear that the film is fantasy.
The feel of the film will make the viewer feel different emotions
throughout. For example, at the start, we are thinking nothing of
the person when he finds the watch but the character becomes
greedy, which makes the viewer change their views on the
supposed “normal” person.
8. My film will follow three main acts. The first act is the character
finding the watch. The second act is the man stealing things and
becoming greedy. The final act is the man waking up and finding
the watch beside his bed.
9. I will experiment with colour grading within Adobe Premiere Pro. I
will try to achieve a horror movie theme as I like how the
reduction of colour makes it look old and mysterious.
10. The setting of my film will be in a wooded area or in an
abandoned area. This is so the film will have added mystery as
the viewer wonders why this magical watch has ended up in the
middle of no where.
The only props I will be using is the watch and the stuff the
character steals.
11. Here is my storyboard. Even though the text is cheesy, it still
delivers the general message of what is happening in the story.
12. I will aim to follow this
shot list as strictly as
possible and may even
add a few changes that
could potentially improve
my film.
15. For my film I will have 3 actors and a camera man. One of the
actors will be me and I have asked 2 others to help me create a
few scenes. I do not have any backups but I can make my film
work with 2 people.
16. I will be filming at Knavesmire woods and I will film a couple of
scenes within my house. I will not need permission for either of
these places as one is public and the other is my house.
The yellow dot is
roughly the place
where we will be
filming for the
outside shots.
17. Risk Control Measure
Slips, trips and falls while using equipment/looking
through viewfinders.
• Ensure you are familiar with your surroundings, any
planned movements and that the location is safe.
• Any camera movements should employ a spotter for
the camera operator, directing the movement safely.
Manual handling carrying equipment • Do not carry/move equipment beyond your comfort
level.
• Request help when transporting equipment/share
amongst crew.
• Adhere to manual handling methods for carrying
items.
Aches and pains • Ensure DSE is set up appropriate to user.
• Take breaks as necessary.
Electrical equipment, extension/data cables and
plugs- electric shock
• Do not touch any equipment that appears faulty and
report it to the tutor/technician.
Electrical equipment exposed to wet weather,
could cause fire or broken equipment
• Make sure the weather isn’t wet before filming and
cover up any equipment if it is raining
Props may cause damage to crew • Careful when handling any props that could be
harmful
Headaches • Ensure DSE is set up appropriate to user.
• Take breaks as necessary.
• Drink water if desired.
18.
19. Thursday 14th December: Film as much as possible. (Act 1-3)
Saturday 16th December: Finish up filming any scenes that need
redoing due to out of focus shots or reshoot if it can be done
better.
20. My call sheet contains all the
necessary information if someone
needs to contact me or a crew
member
21. The only props I will need is a watch and something that looks of
value so that the character can steal it. My costume for the
character will be black as this will help the reader focus more on
the watch as it will be brighter and shine when I add effects.
23. I will need to record sounds of nature like birds and a stream and
some wind for when my character walks through the woods.
These sounds can easily be recorded by going to the location. I
may even include a few car engines running in the background.
I will also need a special effect sound for when the character
presses the button on the watch. I might have to download this
from the internet.
When time is frozen, there will be no sound except any sound that
the character makes.
24. For this part of production, I will have a music track playing in the
background which will be downloaded from a royalty free
website/channel on YouTube. I will try to find music that is
mysterious or magical but not so much that it confuses the viewer
about what genre my film is. When my character “freezes time”, I
will have no music playing because most short films I have
watched are silent with only sound effects the character makes
audible.
