3. One Direction Album • The identity for one direction created by this
album is fun loving, care free and close-knit.
This is shown through the position of the boys
within the image as they are all stood close
together and touch. They all have smiles of
some form on their faces which connotes that
they are having a good time. They are always
featured together within the 2 shots again
suggesting that they are close with one
another. The pale washed out lighting denotes
of peace and serenity linking to the care free
identity that they have. The are also located on
a beach which is a place most people would
associate with holidays and easy going.
• For this album the genre is apparent; pop. Its show through the
bright/high key lighting of the images. The location is also one
associated with pop videos as many have taken place there such
as take that and Ellie Goulding's videos. The causal clothing
would also suggest this as other genres tend to have more
formal or strange costume types. The font is also minimalistic or
small suggesting that the band takes more focus than the music.
It sells the band as a brand as the product rather then the music
which is more often the case with pop music
• The target audience is clearly young females possibly pre-
teens. This does affect the aesthetic as they will want to
look at the band members rather than read text on the
cover. Bright and pastel colours are more likely to appeal
to them. The lack of large walls of text shows that they
would rather listen to the music rather than read about and
so large images are used instead as that is something they
will more likely want to look at.

4. The Killers Album • The Identity being created for the killers as
cool and relaxed as should by their poses
showing them as “Cool” and almost
uncaring as they don’t really seem to be
taking interest in the camera man and
bored/serious expressions. The black
clothing looks put together and carefully
thought about as though they were
concerned with looking good more than
the posing.
• The genre of this album is rock or indie rock
as connoted by the sepia/grey filter over the
image. Its most commonly used on albums
within that genre. The text is also more
highlighted on this album as it is situated in
front of the band in a black showing that the
music is also as important as the band
themselves. This is something that wasn’t
done on the one direction album.
• Again the target audience does affect the aesthetic of the
album as it has to appeal to people interested in the genre.
This band appears to have a more male oriented audience as
shown by the non sexualisation of the band members and the
inclusion of as barely dressed women.

5. Katy Perry Album • Katy Perry is shown as a stereotypical female
pop artist and thus presented as living in the
luxury and fun. Her clothing is perfect as
well as her makeup, suggesting that she has
the money to be able to dress like this. The
props are also things closely associated with
relaxing and fun. Their presence also shows
that her lifestyle allows her to partake in
such activities.
• The genre is clearly pop as shown by the
makeup she wears and the costumes and the
bubble font used. They are bright colours.
The setting is busy and peaceful which
would suggest pop as it looks akin to a
Barbie house another popular product for a
primary female audience.
• The aesthetic appeals to target audiences as
her costume shown a lot of skin, extenuating
her female body. Her heavy makeup makes
her look attracting and perfect. It attracts
men and makes women feel as though they
could be Katy Perry.

6. Robbie Williams Album • Robbie is presented as stereotypically
male performing daring stunts which that
show his bravery and strength. It sets him
above other males as he is the only one
pictured doing these stunts.
• The genre is typically pop as he is
featured on both the front and back
covers of the album. The lighting is high
key and warm. And the locations, thought
above, is urban. The overall aesthetic of

women. It also shows a small amount of
skin that could entice women into buying
