1. Through my A level coursework I have become more creative, producing media
products using my own ideas
2. Brainstorming/mind map
In As media I made a brainstorm of music genres and then the conventions of my
chosen genre which was hip-hop/pop.
In A2 I created a brainstorm of film genres and the tropes of them.
This enabled me to understand what types of features that I should include in my
own film depending on whether I wanted to follow these techniques or not.
3. Blogger
Blogger has helped me to be more creative because I could design my own layout adding my
own background image and changing the fonts, colours and styles of it to make it my own.
Blogger enabled me to upload work from a various number of websites from images to text
to presentations and videos so my work can be displayed in creative ways.
Blogger also allows me to view others work in order to see how they have been creative
which may inspire me.
4. Prezi is a website which allows me to creatively display my work and I used this in both AS and
A2 because it is a unique way to display my work.
There are a range of designs which I can edit uploading my own images and inserting videos in
order to make it my own.
I can be creative in the layout, fonts and colours to represent whatever I want for example in
AS I created a diagram explaining the typical conventions of a music magazine and how they
attract the audience
Prezi
5. Mood Board
Mood boards helped me to express my creativity by collecting images and fonts of a
particular style to show the conventions of it.
I made a mood board in AS for the genre of hip-hop to establish he conventions so I can
choose which ones I want to follow and which ones I want to challenge.
Due to the fact that in A2 we were making a moving image project it was harder to make a
mood board but I did make a collage of different film posters related to the film genre I
wanted to follow.
6. Pixlr
Pixlr is a free website that allows individuals to be creatively edit their images by
adding effects, overlays, text, other images and also enables people to create
collages.
In AS when I created my music magazine and also in A2 when I made my short film
poster and magazine article I used this website to edit my photos.
7. Picture/Written storyboard
At the start of A2 as a practice task I created a picture storyboard for my one minute
short film and then before I filmed my short film I made a written script of the types of
camera shots that I wanted to use for different scenes.
By creating these I was able to plan out what techniques I wanted to use so that it
made it easier when I actually came to film meaning that I knew what I wanted which
would save time.
