3. Before hitting that SUBMIT button…
Send us your resume.
• How many years of work experience?
• How’s your career progression?
• What are your career goals?
• Are you in a position to apply what you’ll learn? Your ROI depends on it!
Schedule a telephone interview.
• The program director will discuss your career and your fit with the program.
• We can facilitate that for you.
Write compelling essays. It is not about how much you write, but WHAT you write.
• How are you adding value to your organization?
• How is your job rewarding?
• What challenges do you face?
• How can an MBA help you be more effective?
4. Before hitting that SUBMIT button…
Use recommenders that can attest to your ability to be successful.
• Your boss—who can talk about supporting your efforts.
• Peers—who see your abilities and your work ethic every day.
Request official copies of ALL of your college-level transcripts. A minimum grade-
point average of 2.7 out of a possible 4.0, or a 3.0 during the senior year of
undergraduate study.
• They must be sent to us directly from each institution.
• Even if you only took one class, we still need the transcript unless it was
transferred to another institution and is reflected on that official transcript.
5. Is this a test?
Will you need to take the GMAT?
• You can be exempted from the GMAT requirement if you already have a graduate
degree. You can also request an exemption if you have 10+ years of managerial
experience AND a 3.0+ undergraduate grade point average.
• If you need to sit for the GMAT exam, find out more information at www.gmat.com.
How about the TOEFL?
• If you are an international applicant, and your native language is not English, we’ll
need TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) results that are no more than
two years old.
• You can request a waiver if you have been conducting business primarily in English
for a number of years. The program director can discuss this with you during your
telephone interview.
• If you need to sit for the TOEFL exam, find out more at www.TOEFL.com.
6. So what will make you
an excellent candidate?
The admissions committee looks at your total professional background when reviewing
your application—not just a single data point like an undergraduate GPA or a GMAT
score. They will carefully consider:
• Career progression—Evidence of a career track with significant professional
achievement and increasing scope of responsibilities and at least 10 years of
professional work experience (preferred but not mandatory)
• Academic aptitude and commitment—Academic record (combined with standardized
test scores when required) that demonstrates academic aptitude and commitment to
complete and succeed in a rigorous MBA program while continuing to with your career
• Evidence of business acumen—Capacity to contribute actively to the learning process
• Evidence of professional positioning—Capability to quickly learn and apply concepts to
your organization
• Strong recommendations—Testaments to your abilities and level of commitment
• Robust employer support—Commitment of support for time spent earning your MBA
degree
