After opening the box of
announcements, Chief
MinisterAshok Gehlot is
now busy finding a cut
for BJP’s Hindutva card
in the election year. See-
ing the possibility of the
BJP playing a hard card
in the name of Hindutva
in elections, Chief Minis-
terAshok Gehlot has also
started answering in the
same manner.
The pictures of chant-
ing, Havan and Aarti on
this year’s Ram Navami

residence are not ordi-
nary, but special. The
head of the state i.e.
Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot himself is en-

family members and best
friends. Congress feels
that BJP will once again
jump into the election
season of Rajasthan by
playing the hard card of
Hindutva, so why not
find a counter to this
card. Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot himself
has now taken up the re-
sponsibility for this.
Last year, on the 25th
of June, Gehlot reached
Salasar, the main reli-
gious place of Shekha-
wati. When the proces-
sion of Jaipur’s Govind
Devji was taken out on

MISTAKES
TEAM INDIA DID
WHICH PROVED
TO BE COSTLY...
Team India did not cross
the 300-run mark even once
in the WTC final match
India dropped Ashwin and
opted for Umesh Yadav and
Shardul Thakur who were
not in the best of forms
What happened to Jasprit
Bumrah and why was Hardik
Pandya not taken is a mystery
Despite overcast conditions, Rohit
won the toss and opted to bowl
India did not attack Travis
Head right from the word go
Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma
and Cheteswar Pujara failed
badly and hence India
was denied a good start
Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane
played poor shots and got
out. It was the call of the hour
especially for Virat to score big
n Sunday when
Team India were
reduced to “Ash-
es” (pun intend-
ed) it was a ma-
jor heartbreak for millions of
cricket fans who vouch for
Team India across the world
and especially those who had
rallied behind the team and had
(over)crowded the Oval to
boost the morale of our boys.
Despite all the hype and
hoopla over HIT MAN and
company, we all saw how the
cookie crumbled. India was
lucky to get the advantage of
winning the toss but many feel
its decision and action thereaf-
ter was not right considering
the Oval’s fresh pitch, which
needless to say offered a sig-
nificant amount of seam. But
the rest was there for everyone
to see.
Despite a “strong” team on
paper, Indian bowlers couldn’t
capitalise on the helpful condi-
tions. It was noticeably wit-
nessed that most bowlers kept
the ball on the shorter side for
most part of the game. This al-
lowed Australian batters a field
day to punish India seam attack.
This pathetic defeat of Team
India must open up several dis-
cussions and the main and fore-
most being the mindset of the
Indian Think Tank of not being
able to see beyond the paper
tigers. The benefit of the team
has to gain prominence and not
individual stardom.
Look at what our world fa-
mous batters did at the world
stage. India’s batting was more
miserable than their bowling.
Despite being labelled as the
Hit man and company, they
failed to breach even the 300-
run mark on both occasions!
Also it seemed that skipper
Rohit Sharma was hesitant to
implement body-line bowling
against Head as soon as he en-
tered centrestage. The lack of
planning from the Indian cap-
tain proved costly for Team
India as Head smashed a scin-
tillating winning knock of 163
off just 174 deliveries that too
in a Test Match at this stage.
Also, India looked almost
completely clueless with their
planning when Travis Head
and Steve Smith took the Oz
total to a huge score.
Team India also looked thor-
oughly underprepared for the
World Test Championship. The
team got a reprieve of only
nine-days after the entertaining
Indian Premier League 2023
ended. Team India reached
England in batches to join the
preparation camp and thus got
hardly any time to get ready.
In an ideal situation, the
players should have played a
warm-up match to get accli-
mated to the English condi-
tions but the schedule was ex-
tremely tight. However, in a
post-match statement, head
coach Rahul Dravid lamented
the fact that Team India didn’t
get enough time to prepare for
the WTC Final.
“I’m never going to be hap-
py with the preparations as a
coach. But that’s the reality
I’m ready to accept, and we all
have to accept. The schedules
are so cramped and tight.
These guys know… if you’re
playing international cricket,
and if you’re here 3 weeks be-
fore the tour, playing two side-
games, you are going to be
better prepared,” Dravid had
told Star Sports.
FAULTY TEAM SELECTION!
Post-WTC the hottest topic for
discussion was the non-selec-
tion of Ravichandran Ashwin.
Indian Think Tank made a mas-
sive blunder to exclude the
world’s number oneTest bowler
and second-ranked all-rounder
from the playing XI. Though
Ashwin can take wickets in
every condition, Team Indian
went in with an extra seamer at
the expense ofAshwin.Ashwin
is also a star with the willow. He
has five centuries.
Time and again we have seen
howTeamIndialiterallychoked
whenever it was subjected to
mega knockout matches. Be it
the 2021 T20 World Cup when
the Virat Kohli-led India team
was thrashed by Pakistan or
when the Rohit Sharma-led In-
dia surrendered to England in
the T20 World Cup semi-final
inAdelaide in November 2022.
Whenever it was required, In-
dian batting sensations crum-
bled like cookies and the script
during the WTC final against
Australia was the same. Also
Rishabh Pant was badly missed.
ForAshwin even after claim-
ing 474 Test wickets only enti-
tles him to carry the drinks to
the field, Ashwin might do
some hard thinking about his
future. SAD!!!

WILL INDIA LOOK BEYOND NOW?
Isn’t it high time that the Think Tank did some
course correction? When will the aging war horses
give way to the new and fresh players like Arshdeep
Singh, Umran Malik, Abhimanyu Easwaran,
Sarfaraz Khan. When it the likes of Rinku Singh and
Jasvi Jaiswal be given the chance. With the World

and bring out the best with whatever time is left or
else there’s no point lamenting later.

Actually Govind Megh-

Meghwal told Shah
that he was the only
MLA of the district who
won from BJP in 2003.
Actually at that time
Devi Singh Bhati had
left the BJP and won the
election. Amit Shah said
‘Then what happened?
Why did you leave the
party?’ Meghwal said,
“The ticket was cut,
contested the election

Gehlot Sahib gave a

in the meeting, Minister

many issues before

With RBI Governor’s ‘warning’, will AU finally ‘handle’its NPAs?
First India Bureau
Jaipur
ou must have
seen and heard
many scams of
many banks,
but today we are intro-
ducing you to some ‘acts’
of AU Bank which is
worrying about the secu-
rity of your money de-
posited in AU Bank.
zWhat was the whole
matter?
In the previous news,
FirstIndiaraisedquestions
on AU Small Finance
Bank keeping its NPAsta-
ble at 2% for last 5 years.
Its financial products are
being sold to customers in
rural areas or to those with
poor civil score or low in-
come group and builders
with high risk profile,
whose money can sink
anytime and NPA can rise
anytime. But despite this,
thecompanyhasstabilized
its NPA at 2% which is a
matter of investigation.
AUSmallFinanceBank
was given the status of
Scheduled Small Finance
Bank by RBI in 2017. The
‘main-men’ behind AU
Bank are Sanjay Agarwal
and Uttam Tibrewal who
started this bank and now
AUBankhasopenedmore
than 900 branches across
the country. Meanwhile,
there were allegations on
AU Bank of showing less
NPA. SEBI also approved
the IPO brought by AU
Small Finance Bank and it
waslistedinthestockmar-
ket. If we study the gross
NPA figures of AU Bank
for the last five years, then
the gross NPA percentage
of the company in the fi-
nancial years 2017-18,
2018-19 and 2021-22 has
been2%.WhileduetoCo-
rona it has been told 4.3%
in the financial year 2020-
21 and 1.7% in the finan-
cial year 2019-20.
In such a situation, if
indeed this NPA is being
keptlimitedto2%through
their ability and manage-
ment skills by the ‘karta-
dharta’ ofAU, who made
it a bank from a finance
company, then this is an
shining example of excel-
lent management! But the
truth is probably some-
thing else. In this case, on
the condition of anonym-
ity, a high-level official of
the bank disclosed that the
bank hid its actual NPAby
going against the rules of
RBI. In the news pub-
lishedearlierinFirstIndia,
the entire matter was dis-
closed in detail.
Taking cognizance of
thiswholematter,RBIhas
issued orders for inquiry
and said that suitable ac-
tion will be taken against
AUSmallFinanceBankif
it is found violating the
existing guidelines. Last
month, for the first time,
the RBI governor had a
meeting with the board
members of the banks, in
which he clearly said that
RBI is aware of all the
gimmicks that banks uses
to hide its bad loans and
show profits. It was ac-
cepted by RBI Governor
Shashikant Das in the
meeting that many banks
are hiding their actual
NPAs by evergreening
loans to hide the status of
stressed loans.
By now you must have
understood the whole sto-
ry. But now let us intro-
duce you to that thing,
through which the black
game of hiding NPA is
played by banks. What is
the evergreening of loan?
Loans that are about to
go into the NPA category,
the bank gives more loans
to the company before de-
fault, and then with this
additional loan, the com-
pany pays its outstanding
instalments. In this the cy-
cle of loans goes on and
that loan does not come
under the category of
NPA. Lender’s loan is ad-
justedinternallyorthrough
office accounts.
There have been many
such cases besides ever-
greening, in which some
banks have adopted differ-
ent tactics to hide their
NPAs, like banks buying
each other’s bad loans, is-
suanceofdebtinstruments
for debt management. To
ensurethatNPApressureis
less, structured deals are
done with bad borrowers
from good borrowers,
funding debtors’liabilities
using internal or office ac-
counts and hiding NPAby
giving loan directly or to
any subsidiary before due
paymenttosettleoldloans,
are some of the old ploys.
Let us tell you that
through a special circular,
the money of various gov-
ernment schemes depos-
ited in government banks
was transferred from gov-
ernment banks and depos-
ited inAU bank. In such a
situation, if RBI takes
some action against AU
bank,thenwhatwillbethe
futureofthatgovtmoney?
It remains to be seen
whether RBI is able to
reveal in its investiga-
tion the various tactics
being adopted by AU
Bank to stabilize its NPA
after the RBI Governor’s
admission.

RAJASTHAN www.firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia 03 Jaipur, Wednesday | June 14, 2023 Naresh Sharma Jaipur After opening the box of announcements, Chief MinisterAshok Gehlot is now busy finding a cut for BJP’s Hindutva card in the election year. See- ing the possibility of the BJP playing a hard card in the name of Hindutva in elections, Chief Minis- terAshok Gehlot has also started answering in the same manner. The pictures of chant- ing, Havan and Aarti on this year’s Ram Navami at the Chief Minister’s residence are not ordi- nary, but special. The head of the state i.e. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot himself is en- gaged in worship with his family members and best friends. Congress feels that BJP will once again jump into the election season of Rajasthan by playing the hard card of Hindutva, so why not find a counter to this card. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot himself has now taken up the re- sponsibility for this. Last year, on the 25th of June, Gehlot reached Salasar, the main reli- gious place of Shekha- wati. When the proces- sion of Jaipur’s Govind Devji was taken out on August 20 last year, the CM also joined it. Shivendra Parmar Jaipur DGP Umesh Mishra on Tuesday ordered a vigi- lance inquiry against IPS officer Sushil Kumar Bishnoi after a video of some policemen thrash- ing employees of a hotel in Ajmer went viral on social media. CM GEHLOT’S VISIT TO RAMDHAM, TRIPURA SUNDARI TEMPLE The CM had visited Pushkar last year, this year the Prime Minister inaugurated the election campaign of Rajasthan from this Pushkar land. The CM showed his affection for the Ramsnehi sect by visiting Ramdham, the head seat of the Rams- nehi sect in Ren of Nagaur. Now the latest discussion is about visiting the famous Tripura Sundari temple in Banswara. This is the same temple towards which former CM Vasundhara Raje has deep faith where CM Gehlot went a step ahead. Not only did he engage in evening worship, but also spent the night on this holy land. DGP orders for vigilance inquiry against IPS Sushil CM’S ‘RULE OF LAW’ ZERO TOLERANCE ENSURED THAT THE DUO WERE SUSPENDED According to sources, influential individu- als were running from pillar to post to save both the young officials. It is said that the relatives of both officers are big business mag- nates and politically affluent individuals. For two days, these ‘powerful’ individuals engaged in outright lobbying and power-pull to save these of- ficials, but Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s commit- ment to ‘rule of law’ and zero tolerance for such actions, ensured that the duo were suspended. Team India did not cross the 300-run mark even once in the WTC final match India dropped Ashwin and opted for Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur who were not in the best of forms What happened to Jasprit Bumrah and why was Hardik Pandya not taken is a mystery Despite overcast conditions, Rohit won the toss and opted to bowl India did not attack Travis Head right from the word go Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Cheteswar Pujara failed badly and hence India was denied a good start Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane played poor shots and got out. It was the call of the hour especially for Virat to score big n Sunday when Team India were reduced to “Ash- es” (pun intend- ed) it was a ma- jor heartbreak for millions of cricket fans who vouch for Team India across the world and especially those who had rallied behind the team and had (over)crowded the Oval to boost the morale of our boys. Despite all the hype and hoopla over HIT MAN and company, we all saw how the cookie crumbled. India was lucky to get the advantage of winning the toss but many feel its decision and action thereaf- ter was not right considering the Oval’s fresh pitch, which needless to say offered a sig- nificant amount of seam. But the rest was there for everyone to see. Despite a “strong” team on paper, Indian bowlers couldn’t capitalise on the helpful condi- tions. It was noticeably wit- nessed that most bowlers kept the ball on the shorter side for most part of the game. This al- lowed Australian batters a field day to punish India seam attack. This pathetic defeat of Team India must open up several dis- cussions and the main and fore- most being the mindset of the Indian Think Tank of not being able to see beyond the paper tigers. The benefit of the team has to gain prominence and not individual stardom. Look at what our world fa- mous batters did at the world stage. India’s batting was more miserable than their bowling. Despite being labelled as the Hit man and company, they failed to breach even the 300- run mark on both occasions! Also it seemed that skipper Rohit Sharma was hesitant to implement body-line bowling against Head as soon as he en- tered centrestage. The lack of planning from the Indian cap- tain proved costly for Team India as Head smashed a scin- tillating winning knock of 163 off just 174 deliveries that too in a Test Match at this stage. Also, India looked almost completely clueless with their planning when Travis Head and Steve Smith took the Oz total to a huge score. Team India also looked thor- oughly underprepared for the World Test Championship. The team got a reprieve of only nine-days after the entertaining Indian Premier League 2023 ended. Team India reached England in batches to join the preparation camp and thus got hardly any time to get ready. In an ideal situation, the players should have played a warm-up match to get accli- mated to the English condi- tions but the schedule was ex- tremely tight. However, in a post-match statement, head coach Rahul Dravid lamented the fact that Team India didn’t get enough time to prepare for the WTC Final. “I’m never going to be hap- py with the preparations as a coach. But that’s the reality I’m ready to accept, and we all have to accept. The schedules are so cramped and tight. These guys know… if you’re playing international cricket, and if you’re here 3 weeks be- fore the tour, playing two side- games, you are going to be better prepared,” Dravid had told Star Sports. FAULTY TEAM SELECTION! Post-WTC the hottest topic for discussion was the non-selec- tion of Ravichandran Ashwin. Indian Think Tank made a mas- sive blunder to exclude the world’s number oneTest bowler and second-ranked all-rounder from the playing XI. Though Ashwin can take wickets in every condition, Team Indian went in with an extra seamer at the expense ofAshwin.Ashwin is also a star with the willow. He has five centuries. Time and again we have seen howTeamIndialiterallychoked whenever it was subjected to mega knockout matches. Be it the 2021 T20 World Cup when the Virat Kohli-led India team was thrashed by Pakistan or when the Rohit Sharma-led In- dia surrendered to England in the T20 World Cup semi-final inAdelaide in November 2022. Whenever it was required, In- dian batting sensations crum- bled like cookies and the script during the WTC final against Australia was the same. Also Rishabh Pant was badly missed. ForAshwin even after claim- ing 474 Test wickets only enti- tles him to carry the drinks to the field, Ashwin might do some hard thinking about his future. SAD!!! Let us also do something for the country. Make Modi the PM again take the country forward.” With RBI Governor’s ‘warning’, will AU finally ‘handle’its NPAs? First India Bureau Jaipur ou must have seen and heard many scams of many banks, but today we are intro- ducing you to some ‘acts’ of AU Bank which is worrying about the secu- rity of your money de- posited in AU Bank. zWhat was the whole matter? In the previous news, FirstIndiaraisedquestions on AU Small Finance Bank keeping its NPAsta- ble at 2% for last 5 years. Its financial products are being sold to customers in rural areas or to those with poor civil score or low in- come group and builders with high risk profile, whose money can sink anytime and NPA can rise anytime. But despite this, thecompanyhasstabilized its NPA at 2% which is a matter of investigation. AUSmallFinanceBank was given the status of Scheduled Small Finance Bank by RBI in 2017. The ‘main-men’ behind AU Bank are Sanjay Agarwal and Uttam Tibrewal who started this bank and now AUBankhasopenedmore than 900 branches across the country. Meanwhile, there were allegations on AU Bank of showing less NPA. SEBI also approved the IPO brought by AU Small Finance Bank and it waslistedinthestockmar- ket. If we study the gross NPA figures of AU Bank for the last five years, then the gross NPA percentage of the company in the fi- nancial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2021-22 has been2%.WhileduetoCo- rona it has been told 4.3% in the financial year 2020- 21 and 1.7% in the finan- cial year 2019-20. In such a situation, if indeed this NPA is being keptlimitedto2%through their ability and manage- ment skills by the ‘karta- dharta’ ofAU, who made it a bank from a finance company, then this is an shining example of excel- lent management! But the truth is probably some- thing else. In this case, on the condition of anonym- ity, a high-level official of the bank disclosed that the bank hid its actual NPAby going against the rules of RBI. In the news pub- lishedearlierinFirstIndia, the entire matter was dis- closed in detail. Taking cognizance of thiswholematter,RBIhas issued orders for inquiry and said that suitable ac- tion will be taken against AUSmallFinanceBankif it is found violating the existing guidelines. Last month, for the first time, the RBI governor had a meeting with the board members of the banks, in which he clearly said that RBI is aware of all the gimmicks that banks uses to hide its bad loans and show profits. It was ac- cepted by RBI Governor Shashikant Das in the meeting that many banks are hiding their actual NPAs by evergreening loans to hide the status of stressed loans. By now you must have understood the whole sto- ry. But now let us intro- duce you to that thing, through which the black game of hiding NPA is played by banks. What is the evergreening of loan? Loans that are about to go into the NPA category, the bank gives more loans to the company before de- fault, and then with this additional loan, the com- pany pays its outstanding instalments. In this the cy- cle of loans goes on and that loan does not come under the category of NPA. Lender’s loan is ad- justedinternallyorthrough office accounts. There have been many such cases besides ever- greening, in which some banks have adopted differ- ent tactics to hide their NPAs, like banks buying each other’s bad loans, is- suanceofdebtinstruments for debt management. To ensurethatNPApressureis less, structured deals are done with bad borrowers from good borrowers, funding debtors’liabilities using internal or office ac- counts and hiding NPAby giving loan directly or to any subsidiary before due paymenttosettleoldloans, are some of the old ploys. Let us tell you that through a special circular, the money of various gov- ernment schemes depos- ited in government banks was transferred from gov- ernment banks and depos- ited inAU bank. In such a situation, if RBI takes some action against AU bank, thenwhatwillbethe futureofthatgovtmoney? It remains to be seen whether RBI is able to reveal in its investiga- tion the various tactics being adopted by AU Bank to stabilize its NPA after the RBI Governor’s admission.
