Ipc media powerpoints
1. IPC MEDIA
The international publishing corporation Ltd was formed in 1963 following the merger of
the Uk’s three leading magazine publishers; George Newnes, Odhams Press and
Fleetway Publications.
IPC magazines was created five years later, in 1968. They now publish a wide variety of
magazines including NME and Uncut.
NME: New Musical Express has been published since March 1952, created by Theodore
Ingham the magazine was originally a music paper. It then gradually moved towards a
magazine format during the 1980s and 90s. It was formally a rock or Punk Rock
magazine, but has now became more pop rock to attract a younger and wider audience of
16-24 year olds.
Uncut: Uncut was launched in May 1997 as a monthly magazine aimed at 25- to 45-year
old men. According to IPC Media, 86% of the magazine's readers are male and their
average age is 37 years. Uncut's contents include lengthy features on old albums,
interviews with film directors, music and film news, and reviews of all major new album,
film and DVD releases. Its music features tend to focus on genres such as Americana,
rock and alternative country.
2. Prometheus Global Media
Prometheus Global Media formerly known as E5 Global Media. It
is an American firm and unlike IPC was only formed in 2009.
The company only produce Billboard magazine in the music
category. But have other categories such as film and
entertainment.
As Prometheus Global media only produces one music magazine I
feel that this would be a better choice to publish mine as it would
be advertised bigger and better. I also this that Billboard magazine
is very similar to what I have in mind for mine so they would help
me go in the right direction.
