4. Establishing Shot
This is an establishing shot of the school building which is
the location of the film in the beginning of the trailer.
What Went Well:
The use of the trees in the framing made the school seem
eerie and forebode danger.
What Will Be Changed:
The shot may be closer to the school, perhaps zoomed in
closer. The tennis courts in front serve as a distraction, and
the bright sky takes away the iconographic dark elements
of the genre. Therefore, having a closer shot of the school
will solve these problems.
Target Audience Feedback:
5. Low Angle Shot
This is a shot of a character going up the stairs to a new, unknown
location. This conveys a journey and an upcoming change of
scenery. This will be seen around the beginning of the trailer.
What Went Well:
The location and the stairs themselves were practical as they
appear old and tarnished as well as dark and isolated. This is an
ideal iconographic image as it creates suspense and an enigma,
to what is beyond the stairs and what will happen next.
What Will Be Changed:
Darker lighting will be needed. The natural lighting from the
window in the hall created shadows and too much light through
the railing, not creating a dark or strong enough image. Either the
location will be changed to similar stairs inside the school, the
window will have to be covered or filming will have to take place
at later hours of the day.
Target Audience Feedback:
6. Over The Shoulder, Two Shot
This is an over the shoulder shot/ Two Shot as the camera is
behind the characters, looking over their shoulders, while they sit
together at the computer, establishing their relationship. This will
be seen around the middle of the trailer.
What Went Well:
The image clearly shows the two characters doing research on
a computer, which was the intended concept here.
What Will Be Changed:
There are distractions in the background of the image such as
the books, whiteboard and the DVD player. Also, the camera
would need to be closer next time to clearly see what is on the
computer and see the reactions of the characters. However, in
order to do this, characters may need to be seated more at an
angle, and the character on the rights hair should be tucked
back to see their face
Target Audience Feedback:
7. POV Shots
What Went Well:
The locations were ideal to convey the location of the old, dark scary
attic, which is a typical setting in supernatural horror.
What Will Be Changed:
The lighting is too weak. Although we used our IPhone torch props,
they were not good enough to provide beneficial lighting. We may
have to actually turn on lights or bring better torches as props.
Another alternative could be editing the shots, as seen below. Also
the light created a glare, so different keys of lighting will have to be
tested to see which produces the best effect.

8. Evaluation
Did you achieve/ create what you set out to do?
Why? Why not?
Overall, we were able to achieve our goal, through
testing and understanding what our shots will look
like and learning how to develop and improve
them.
What is your next task?
To start filming the trailer, using what we learned
and our feedback from the test shots
