4. OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE
D.B. Thermal August 1989 to November 2001
Joined D.B. Thermal as a trainee N.D.T. Technician.
During my time at D.B. Thermal I obtained various qualifications and worked on
different sites.
1991 TO 1992 I worked at Kendal Power Station. My duties included NDT in
cooling towers as well as in the turbine area.
After 1992 I was involved in various contracts at D.B. Thermal Nigel Works, which
included R.T, M.T, and P.T On pressure vessels, heat exchangers, high pressure
piping, boilers, valves and various other items.
I was also involved in a call out department, which sent me to various sites and
engineering companies i.e. Eskom Power Stations – Majuba, Kendal, Matla, Kriel,
Hendrina and Arnot.
I worked in shut downs at Sasol I, II and III Plants. I became involved in marine
survey and inspection at this time.
Typical Daily Activities:
NDE Testing on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers and piping.
Supervision of NDE personnel.
Attend daily progress meetings.
Reviewing of reports and radiographic films.
Positive material identification tests.

5. RAYSONICS 2001 TO 2003
Became involved in consulting and management for various inspection and
engineering companies such as DB Thermal Engineering, Dorbyl Marine, TUV, and
ABS etc. During this time I was also actively involved in NDT specializing in
ultrasonic flaw detection.

Implementing and review of QA / QC Management Procedures.
QC audits at suppliers and vendors.
NDE Testing on pressure vessels, storage tanks and structures.

RITC 2003 TO 2010
I worked at Raysonics Inspection Test & Certification Cape Town as senior inspector
where I am involved with various projects which include marine hull surveys, quality
audits, petro chemical third party inspections, and NDT on rigs such as the ORCA,
HERCULES 185 AND SEDCO 701, third party inspections on new pressure vessel
fabrications, re-certification of pressure vessels according to the OHSA and NDT at
various plants. I was involved with storage tank inspection project for Engen which
has taken me to countries such as Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and various depots
throughout Africa. I managed the QC for Transocean rig “SEDNETH 701” In Walvis
Bay Namibia which included pressure vessel inspection, pipe replacement and NDT.

Third party inspection on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air receivers,
boilers and piping.
Third party inspection on received / sent shipments of various items.
Witnessing of Weld Procedure / Welder Qualifications.
Witnessing of pressure tests, weld fit-ups, and all hold points as per
Inspection Test Plans.
Re-certification of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping on various
petrochemical plants, power stations and sites.
QC audits at suppliers and vendors.
6. Implementing and review of QA / QC Management Procedures.
NDE Testing on pressure vessels, storage tanks and structures.
Specific Achievements:
Successfully managed Inspection / NDT crew of 25 on board the Sedneth 701
Rig while docked in Walvis Bay harbor. The project was managed over a
period of 7 Months. Some of my duties included attending daily production
and QC / QA meetings, arranging staging for inspection, keeping control of
QCP interventions, NCR issue and closing out of and ensuring all required
inspections were carried out and recorded according to procedure. This was
all carried out with zero injuries or lost time.

bridge structures, offshore rig structures, turbines, ship structures, deep sea structures,
process piping, boilers and various other equipment.
DORMAC MARINE & ENGINEERING 2010 TO 2013
QC/QA Manager for workshop, marine and site work. Duties include ensuring
quality procedures are followed, setting up of quality plans and weld procedures,
management of inspection personnel and projects. Duties included managing the HSE
department ensuring all procedures were followed.

Managing Inspection, NDE and Safety Personnel at Engineering workshop,
vessels, offshore rigs, mines and various sites.

7. Specific Achievements:
Project Manager of Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine expansion project. This
included the fabrication of 4 Vessels in the workshop and installation on site.
This was done successfully with no lost time recorded on the project. During
this time I managed to run the QA/QC and SHE department at the workshop
successfully.

APPLUS RTD (BASRAH GAS COMPANY IRAQ) 2014
Project Engineer for inspection of gas compressor plants in Iraq. Supervising /
coordinating of inspection personnel and activities for the rehabilitation of existing
gas compressor plants
