Gary has been involved in the construction industry since 1964 in a variety of roles. He also has extensive
international experience, totalling more than 16 years in developing countries including Vietnam, Papua New
Guinea, and Indonesia. Gary is an energetic and well-organised team player, working collaboratively with other
disciplines and is familiar with the on-site dynamics of large infrastructure and structural building projects. He has
significant concrete construction experience having recently completed the Cotter Dam Project in Canberra.
Drawing upon specification, QMP and technical drawing skills gained over many years in the construction industry,
Gary actively mentors young Engineers. .

Description of Project:
APS is a division of Lendlease, specialising in the manufacture of precast elements, including Super-Ts, planks,
arches, headstocks and panels.
Responsibilities:
Logistics supervision for transportation and delivery of bridge girders and other bridge pre cast components to
various sites along the Pacific Highway;
Consultation with transport companies to ensure deliveries are in line and in place with the lifting/placement
plans of the client, oversize permits along with police/pilot escorts;
Ensure that all deliveries, loading/transporting/unloading comply with Lendlease CoR requirements;
Implementing and controlling logistics scheduling and reporting;
Closely liaising with clients to ensure client satisfaction is achieved;
Currently supervising deliveries of pre-cast Super-T Girders, Planks and Parapets to the Oxley Highway to
Kundabung Pacific Highway upgrade project for the16 bridges;
Coordinating detailed unloading and landing of all components;
Monitoring the quality of materials to ensure compliance with design and specifications to ensure successful
casting:
Works and materials include concreting, reinforcement placement, formwork set-up, checking, concrete
placement, striping, curing and finishing for the successful casting of products;
Providing consultations with visiting RMS (Client) inspectors to ensure satisfaction and verification of quality of
construction at the pre-casting stage that comply to NSW RMS B80 Bridge Construction Specifications; and
Managing daily diaries and weekly site meetings.
Project: Pacific Hwy Upgrade – Nambucca Heads to Urunga, NSW Value: $522m
Role & Company: Quality Improvement Officer (Lendlease) Duration: Jan 14 – Oct 15
Description of Project:
Design and construction of 22km of four-lanes of dual-carriageway including a northern bypass around Urunga on
a new alignment and a five-span twin-bridge over the Kalang River. Our scope also involves 3,500,000m3 of
earthworks, 36 bridges, dedicated fauna crossings and 210,000m3 of concrete pavement.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out surveillance and inspections for all structures, bridges, transverse drainage, RCP drainage,
headwalls, box culverts, pavements, proof roll of fill layers subgrade works including HP sign off;
Undertaking lot / product and external supplier audits both internal and external; and
Completing daily diaries and attending weekly site meetings.

Project: Woleebee Creek Central Processing Plant Value: $80m
Role & Company: Structural/Civil Quality Coordinator-Inspector (QG LNG) Duration: Apr 13 – Jan 14
Description of Project:
This project involved the first stage of natural gas processing facilities in the Surat Basin for the Queensland Curtis
LNG Project.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out surveillance and reporting at all five field compressors and one Central Processing Plant as well
as the locations of the upstream compression civil construction works for the QCLNG field compression works ;
Undertaking site inspections and ITP implementation involving checking, planning, recording for construction
companies, compiling contractor’s KPI project compliance;
Attending weekly site meetings and site audits with all contractors at sites to confirm verification that QMP
compliance was in line with current project performance;
Providing input with document control to progressively compile a “Project Data Book” for each facility as
required;
Carrying out daily OH&S, quality of construction and environmental monitoring.

Project: Bulk Water Alliance – Enlarged Cotter Dam Value: $372m
Role & Company: Quality Inspector Structures (GHD) Duration: Apr 10 – Apr 13
Description of Project:
Construction of a new Roller Compacted Concrete dam wall 125m downstream from the existing heritage-listed
structure, together with two clay-core rock-filled saddle dams, which combined to increase the reservoir’s capacity
from four gigalitres to around 78 gigalitres.
Responsibilities:
Working in conjunction with various construction teams, alongside the design team, responsibilities included
“pre pour inspections" or HPR's to all concrete pours, checks for sign off on SQE Inspection/Site Instruction
sign off forms for "OK to proceed" instruction at all construction component site locations, which included the
stilling basin works .LHA-RHA Secondary Spillway walls/footings LH-RH Primary Spillway walls, pre cast-
placements.
Roadways and access areas. Drilling-anchor-grouting works. All Pipework M&E to Intake Tower, wet well-dry
well, stop log guides, screen installations, top of tower mechanicals, grouting works, set up rebar-forms,
placement witnessing and reporting, concrete placement temperature monitoring and reporting, which involved
providing and implementing thermocouples and temperature monitoring/recording for KPI's for all CVC and
RCC construction lots. Daily Diaries and Weekly site meetings.
