2. RECORDING THE PROCESS
For the coursework that was posted on the blog, we have used
different digital platforms such as Power Point, photos and films from
Youtube to represent our work in a more interesting way than a word
document. Adding pictures and different types of design to the
presentation helps the overall visual look of our work.
3. RESEARCH
When doing the coursework, research was important so we could find
information to support our work in terms of accuracy and idea
development. When researching different thriller films and analysing
the different aspects of them, one discovered that there were several
intertextual references we could add to our work. Viewing clips from
Youtube was very important when analysing mise en scene and
technical aspects of other film productions, so we could then apply it
to our own productions.
4. PLANNING
When planning and shooting our film opening, we used cameras and
mobile phones to take photos of possible camera angles we could use,
and the extra footage that was not used in the final edit or had to be
redone, worked as an extra material for the group to look through and
analyse what could have been done better or different. We also used our
phones and social media to communicate with our fellow group members,
so planning and evaluating of our production could be done easily and
quickly.
5. THE SHOOTING & THE EDITING
We used two different cameras when filming our thriller. Our first
clips were filmed with a camera that did not deal well with the level of
light in the frame, it also had lower quality image than the camera we
used for the final clips of the thriller. As the viewing screen on the
camera was to small to watch the details of the footage, we plugged
the memory card frequently into the computer so we could watch it
all together and evaluate the strength of the footage.
6. THE SHOOTING & THE EDITING
When editing the film, we used the cut tool to cut down the length of
the scenes, and also to improve footage that contained mistakes or to
split them up, in example when filming the conversation between two
of the characters. The sound was added in the editing process to
enhance the ambience we were aiming to create in our thriller, and we
used different types of transitions to make the film more interesting
in terms of technological aspects.
