1.Introduction
Overview Of the Organization
WebSprix is a virtual internet service provider that specializes in wireless fidelity or commonly known asWi-Fi. It has
multiple objectives to accomplish and achieved many goals since its launch it has gained many customers and started to
ascend through everyone’s expectations.
Background of the organization
WebSprix has become the first private company in Ethiopia to officially launch IPTV and
high-speed Internet services for both residential and business customers on June 22, 2018
atTsehay Real Estate. The company was founded on 2010 and established
in 2011 offering IT solutions, mobile value-additions, enterprise solutions, and cloud,
infrastructure, and data center design and building services.
Dawit Brihanu was the founder and CEO ofWebSprix PLC and theVice President and
cofounder isAbraham Minwuyelet and the director of engineering is MengistuAbebe
Description of the organization
WebSprix is an internet provider that installs wireless connections to its providers
using fiber based wires unlike EthioTelecom which uses copper wires. The fibers are
a lot faster than the copper wires EthioTelecom uses even though they work with
EthioTelecom to provide internet they are much better at doing the job required

2.Objective of the internship
The objective of the internship is to understand the actual part of the field we’re learning and
apply it in real life.
It lets students see what the university envisions for us and we can expect and give us an
example of what we’re going to do for our future. We were given a chance to gain experience
and face challenges throughout the process which made us stronger and made it easier for our
future work.
Output Expected
The output was mostly for the Wi-Fi to work if the problem was with the fiber cables or the
router. Since there were two types we had seen differences in installations for example in a
fiber to the base/home the fiber cable comes directly from the source but in the wireless to the
home/base they set up a satellite dish to receive a frequency from the headquarters then they
use copper cable to spread it out through the building.
Scope of work expected
We were expected to work for 2 months in the organization. In the organization I worked in
we first started by being given the overall objective of the organization and to know what
they actually do in order to be comfortable with the situation and to understand further
information. For 3 to 4 days we were studying what the company does and when we were
familiar with it we were given a router to configure and give orders like changing its IP address
or its Name and more.
3.Overall Internship Experience
The internship has helped me in many ways from understanding basic things from internet
providers to setting up the routers in customers home. It really helped me in seeing what the
knowledge can make me accomplish
How I got Into the Company
I choseWebSprix because I thought it was going to be a better and more challenging than the
other one and I wanted to know how wireless fidelity works. Since we have Wi-Fi basically
everywhere now I think it’ll be wise to know how to fix them and what they can do. And since
they are not going to be useless any time soon I figured that I should learn about them as soon
as I can and as much as I can.
Duty to Perform
First they thought us what we should know before they gave us any duties so we spent
days studying when we got comfortable with the titles, they gave us exercises like getting
in to a router and accessing and seeing its IP address without looking it in its physical
form. When they saw we could do that they gave us series of challenges which required us
to access the site of an individual router and change its name and password by using its IP
address.
Other than the previous duties we were expected to work with the engineers to install or
fix routers.
Our first duties were to know what the problem was with the router using a nanometer
which lets us see if any signal is coming through or not and if the Data loss is more than it
should so that we can know how to fix it. If theWi-Fi isn’t working then it means that
either it’s from the connector which might have bent the fiber cable or from the splitter
which means the splitters connector is damaged or the fiber cable has been damaged or
from the fiber cables being bent which increases the Data Loss and makes the Wi-Fi slow
or disconnected
Responsibilities Assigned
We were given responsibilities after we proved ourselves and they gave us work to do like
cutting the wires which takes delicate and technical movements even though we didn’t do a
perfect job on our first tries we became easily accustomed to it through time.We had to check
the readings on our nanometer while our supervisors were fixing the splitter which is in a
different room and other responsibilities like changing the fiber connector by first removing the
damaged connector then cutting the fiber then using the splitter to split the fiber in two and to
cut out the useless wires then we put the separated useful fiber wire In the fiber cleaver so that
it can cut it in to a perfect fiber at the proper length then we insert it carefully in to the fiber
connector and we check if there is any signal coming from it using the nanometer.
Procedures we Have Used For ourTasks
For our first work we were given a task to write our given IP address and to change the name
and password of the router
For our work in the field we were given a task to fix a router that had no signal coming in
Challenges Faced while performing our workTasks
• We first had challenges when they gave us things to study and it was hard for us to
understand
• We had problems in remembering where and how to find the IP address
• We had other challenges when we worked in the field
• We couldn’t cut the wire perfectly
• We didn’t know how to insert the fiber wire into the fiber cleaver
• We didn’t know how to open the connector
MeasuresTaken to Overcome Challenges
We did try to study more on the things we didn’t understand and see videos explaining
them and we did understand a lot from them but the major held would have to be our
supervisor because they were always close and willing to help us out. Since we were
beginners at this it was expected of us to ask and they were willing to help us out in any
way possible so we did ask them every question we had involving the work we were doing
at that time
Overall benefits gained from internship
• Gain exposure to real-world problems and issues that perhaps are not found in
textbooks
• Cultivate adaptability and creativity in a dynamic world
• Increase marketability to employers
• Evaluate specific companies or specific careers prior to committing to full-time
employment-a “try before you buy” type experience
• Ease transition from being a student to entering the workforce
• Increase opportunities within a company for faster advancement and growth
• Increase self-confidence in the workplace while developing an expanded network
• Have resume-building experiences while applying academic concepts and principles.
• Have personal growth experiences and exposer to different job opportunities.
In the practical skills and experience we were able to
• Read and understand about virtual internet service provider and how they work
• Able to know how a signal is transmitted to everyone’s homes
• Able to understand how the internet is limited
• Observe and gather information about Wi-Fi
• Able to change and fix routers
• Able to differentiate between virtual internet service providers and internet service
providers
• Able to communicate calmly with customers
• Learning on how to listen and understand others idea better
• Patience
• Giving ideas in short and brief ways
• Communicating personally if needed
In terms of knowing work language
• Being punctual: we were told to be in the building at 3 sharp
• Team work: since I wasn’t the only intern in the company it was my duty to respect the
other interns and work together to overcome our challenges
• Reliability: I had to be reliable for them to trust me with any type of work
• Cooperation: We interacted and cooperated with each other while working
Technical duties and responsibilities
At first when I got into the company the first responsibility I was given was to configure a router
device using a computer. Basically they give me a paper with instruction on what to change the
name and password to. So to do that I had to first give the router an IP address since the ones
they gave us didn’t have one, then after giving it an IP address we link into a website and enter
the IP address and a given password which lead us to the home page of the router where you
can change anything that can change for example the name of the router or the password or
even the speed of the router.
The second responsibility given to us was when we were working in the field. We were given
responsibility to fix a damaged router. And to do that we needed tools, the first tool was a
nanometer, we used it to measure signals and if it had a data loss of more than 30dB then it
means there is something wrong with the wire and I have said above there are 3 ways to fix
that.
1 to straighten the wire
2 changing the connector or
3 changing the whole wire
In doing that we had our duties and responsibilities fulfilled.
Conclusion
Since I started working inWebSprix my career goals have definitely changed for the better. I
had no idea what my major could get me in the future but working there really made me see
what it was offering.
I only thought that this field was for programming stuff but being an intern has showed me that
it way more and we all have plenty of options to choose from and made me see how and what
we can do with the knowledge. Personally the field is hard for me but once I saw what we can
actually do it encouraged me and wanted to do more for my future and since it’s basically
watching and learning we get the hang of I immediately but since that’s not the case in the
office work we have to study and get serious when given a duty or assignment
In conclusion the internship has helped me in many ways and I am glad that I chose
WebSprix for my placement and in doing so I have learned a lot beyond my expectations
Thank you

  • 17. Technical duties and responsibilities At first when I got into the company the first responsibility I was given was to configure a router device using a computer. Basically they give me a paper with instruction on what to change the name and password to. So to do that I had to first give the router an IP address since the ones they gave us didn’t have one, then after giving it an IP address we link into a website and enter the IP address and a given password which lead us to the home page of the router where you can change anything that can change for example the name of the router or the password or even the speed of the router. The second responsibility given to us was when we were working in the field. We were given responsibility to fix a damaged router. And to do that we needed tools, the first tool was a nanometer, we used it to measure signals and if it had a data loss of more than 30dB then it means there is something wrong with the wire and I have said above there are 3 ways to fix that. 1 to straighten the wire 2 changing the connector or 3 changing the whole wire In doing that we had our duties and responsibilities fulfilled.
  • 18. Conclusion Since I started working inWebSprix my career goals have definitely changed for the better. I had no idea what my major could get me in the future but working there really made me see what it was offering. I only thought that this field was for programming stuff but being an intern has showed me that it way more and we all have plenty of options to choose from and made me see how and what we can do with the knowledge. Personally the field is hard for me but once I saw what we can actually do it encouraged me and wanted to do more for my future and since it’s basically watching and learning we get the hang of I immediately but since that’s not the case in the office work we have to study and get serious when given a duty or assignment In conclusion the internship has helped me in many ways and I am glad that I chose WebSprix for my placement and in doing so I have learned a lot beyond my expectations
