s Inc offered me an internship as a Jr. System analysis. The first
week was really exciting. With the help of team lead I have got
to know the system pretty well. The people were helpful
towards me. I got a chance to meet my team manager, lead and
teammates the very first day. From day 2 the team lead provided
me the documents related to the functionality and introduced me
to the teammates. The team lead made me feel free to ask
questions related to the project to know what has and has not
been done, especially in the area of analysis and set up a
meeting with the teammates to make sure that I was headed in
the correct path in terms of requirements and analysis. All
through the week I browsed the materials of the project that
were provided to me. Understanding the system was a bit
difficult at the beginning.
As of now, I started working on the task that was assigned to
me the first week. I got to know a lot of stuff related to the
business at the client’s location. I hope my service to the
project would add to the client’s identify the high-level task
areas. The project is based on user interface design for the
Check-Ease application. The Consult work was in progress
identifies decisions that have already been made regarding
hardware, software and project constraints. Identify the
interface technology. Documents represent a set of starting
interface design assumptions. Review the constraints and any
outstanding issues regarding interface technology and
implementation with the rest of the project team. Identifies
complex problems, troubleshoots and provides solutions to
assist users. This would be a whole new level of experience for
me as I would learn a lot of new things which would be useful
to my carrier.
For starters, how is/was your first week "on the job" as an
intern? What are your initial impressions of the company, the
people, and the value proposition? I.e., How do you feel about
your potential contributions to the company and the value of
this experience to your career goals.
Week 1 - Journal
My first week was really excited for me, as this is something I
am working in my Internship. I do have work experience for two
years previously, but this is somewhat different when compared.
Firstly, I was made to sit at the receptionist and later somebody
took me to a place, where I got my ID, which allows me to get
into the office location and also, has access to
cafeteria, and fitness center. I got a chance to meet my team
manager, lead and teammates the very first day itself. The
guidance that I received around the office location was really
good. The people were helpful towards me. A Ffew of my
teammates took me around the office
and let showed me know the location ofbasic needs such as
office supplies, printer and scanner, restrooms and so on. The
office location was surrounded by greenery, which was good
looking and that made me a bit impressed about the location. I
got the chance of working on the project from day 2 itself. The
team lead provided me the documents related to the
functionality and introduced me to the teammates. The Llead
made me feel free to ask questions related to the project and set
up a meeting with the teammates to make sure that I was going
on correctly with the requirements. There were documents
related to the functional specifications, administrator documents
such as the server details. I got all my credentials and system
(laptop) on the first day itself. People from the receptionist to
the teammates were really helpful.
As of now, I started working on the task that was assigned to
me at the first week. I got to know a lot of stuff related to the
business at the client’s location. I hope my experience would
add to the client’s development in transforming data from one
database to the other database which is present in the Germany.
The project is based on transformation of data. Transformation
of data is done between aWarehouse management system
and HMS (a database in Germany). I am sure that I will achieve
what I want in my internship. Learn more new things related to
my tool that I am working on and get to know a lot about the
business.
Week 2 - Journa
Second week was quite interesting for me as I got a chance to
know about the company’s business. What exactly is going on
in the company? There were few meetings scheduled with the
functional team, to let the IT department know about the new
requirements and updates on the existed one’s. As mentioned in
the last week’s journal, this week I was working on the error
handling frameworks according to the company’s requirement. I
configured different instances on my local machine, which helps
me in deploying the composites I developed onto the WLS (Web
Logic Server). We got three instances here at my client
location, one for development, with which the developer can
play around and the other two are for testing and Production.
We got our daily standup calls with the client, where the
developers in my team update our daily development works.
Also, prepared detailed design documents, which clearly
displays the servers configured, composites built and the details
of the servers. I got a chance to work on Oracle Applications
(E-Business Suite) which takes cares of the inventory part of
the company. As I will be working as a Oracle Middleware
developer here, I also get a chance to work on different
middleware tools of Oracle. E-Business Suite mainly deals
Supply chain managements, inventory, financials, where a
developer’s gets to learn a lot of stuff related to pl/sql stored
procedures. Hopefully I will be getting chance next week or so.
Continue recording your impressions, concerns and learning
experiences. Each week, focus on something new that you
encountered.Week 3 Journal
As I said earlier, this week I did get a chance to work on
creating plsql stored procedures. IT 650 course helped me in
learning and understanding different concepts related to sql. I
was also working on the previous assignments that were
assigned to me related to the transformation of data. The data
which I need to transform are given in MD70 (Meta Data)
document. This document helps the Oracle Applications
developer to know what data is needed for the transformation.
The data collected is stored in a staging table which is created
using the plsql. The data from the staging table is sent to the
destination using the Oracle middleware tool. As of now I have
been working on creating the staging table and the data need is
added in it.
There are regular meetings scheduled with the client to update
our status. The functional team always raises an update in the
requirement. The team is working in according to the
requirements. There is an offshore team working from
Bangalore, India. This team handles the functional specification
documents from the client. People in the team are helping each
other for understanding the requirements related to the stored
procedures as I am new to write a plsql code. It’s really exciting
for me as I got a chance to learn few new things this week.
By now you should have made some progress on your work
assignments. What challenges are you facing? What triumphs /
successes have you experienced so far? In general, how are
things going? Are you beginning to feel comfortable and
productive in your new position? What are you most concerned
about?Week 4 Journal
This is my forth week here in the company. Yesterday I had a
code review with my team mates and lead. The company uses
AT&T for video conference calls. I had to explain the work I
developed from the scratch to teammates and the lead. The
review meeting was for 1 hour and it went good well with few
changes and suggestions from the lead. I had to explain the
plsql stored procedure line by line and the SOA (Service
Oriented Architecture) composites. I was bit nervous when
working on the error handling framework as I am not that good
at it. This was really a challenging part for me as I had to put
more effort in understanding various concepts to implement it.
My teammates helped me in to understand the requirement
according to the business of the company. The development is
going on as usual with regular standup calls, meetings with the
functional team whenever a change in the requirement happens.
As said previously, our company uses Tortoise SVN for the
code to check-in. End of the day the updated code has to be
checked-in such that it is available for the lead and manager to
take a look into it. The standup calls make everybody in the
team to be on the same page. I am pretty much comfortable with
the environment here as everybody is helpful to one another and
I am learning new concepts related to my technology each day. I
had to do a bit of homework on the weekends as I am not that
familiar with plsql, but learning and knowing new concepts is
really an interesting thing for me;, this makes me feel more
productive in my work. The deadline for the code to be
delivered for each task is estimated by the lead and assigned
accordingly to the developer. My main motto here in the
company is to learn new concepts related to the technology that
I’ve been working on and finish the tasks assigned in time.
The lead makes everyone of us feel comfortable in the location
and always prompts us not to hesitate in asking any kind of
question technically or anything that is related to the business.
Knowing the business is always good to any developer as there
is a scope of contributing more to the company.

We are now about half way through the term. What have you
accomplished so far? What do you hope to accomplish in the
next 5 weeks?
Yes! I still remember the day when I first joined the company,
and it's already end of 5th week in here. Got to learn a lot of
new things, working in a team, made new friends around the
office. It is still an interesting part for me as I've been learning
new things, brushing up the old stuff that I worked on
previously. As mentioned earlier, I've been working on the
PL/SQL stored procedures. I created a staging table, where the
data from the source system falls into the staging table and then
gets routed into the destination database. The transformation of
data is through XSLT (XML Style-sheet Language
Transformations) mapping. The data mapped as given in the
functional requirement. This week I was working on the stored
procedure itself.
All these days, I did get a chance to know, what exactly the
business is. And learnt how the requirements collected from the
business team. The code developed would update into the SVN
repository. Regular updates on a given task are delivered to the
client through the daily standup calls with the leads.
The next few days I only think of learning PL/SQL and its
concepts. I will be focusing on my work, in order to complete
the tasks on time and deliver it to the client for the unit test
cases. The testing part initially is done in our systems itself. As
I will be working on Oracle Middleware, we got to use SOAP
UI testing for creating the test cases. Hopefully, I will be able
to complete all the tasks on time.
Journal 6
Times running fast and already end of 6th week here in
internship. A lot of things to learn are yet not finished. I feel
it’s something like an on-going process. There were few
problems technically, but nothing social. The company had has
provided me a desktop. Once there was a meeting scheduled
with an offshore team but, unfortunately, the VPN wasn’t
working finewell. I was unable to share my screen for a status
update, and then I had to talk with the technical department
guys, and they resolved it the next day. It's because I didn’t
have the credentials of to accessing it. Later I got to know from
one of my colleagues that there is a separate website for the
technical department, and we got to raise a ticket if we need
anything. I raised a ticket stating to provide merequesting
access to the VPN, such that there would not be any problem in
the future, when working with the offshore team. The team is
good over here; they respond to the ticket on a priority basis.
There are three levels of priority issues here at my location
“P1”, “P2”, “P3”, where P1 is treated as URGENT, P2 as
MODERATE and P3 as NORMAL. I never got a chance of
reporting some issue of P1. Then later on the other day, I didn’t
have access to any database (instances) that I had to work on.
There is no tool that checks the access to the databases. The
technical team took some time for approving and forwarding the
credentials to me. I don’t remember any other situation that I
felt difficult due to the technical issues. As of now things are
going good under the guidance of my lead and manager.

Continue recording your impressions, concerns and learning
experiences
This week I did have lots of changes on my work, the web
services that I’ve created. There was a code review meeting for
the PL/SQL stored procedures that I have been working on. I
shared my screen using Cisco WebEx to my lead and team
members. There were regular status meetings, that we attend
and update our status to the lead. All through the week I’ve
been working on the changes suggested by lead, and also had
few functionality changes from the business team. During the
process of data transformation through the Oracle middleware, I
got to learn more about XSLT (XML Transformations). Once
done with the changes suggested, I got to test the code using the
test cases. By next week mid I will be working on the unit test
cases. The unit test cases are done using SOAPUI. Error
handling framework is kind of interesting part for this week.
But I tried implementing my framework and later got to know
from lead that, there is something common for all the web
services that the company designed and we all had to use the
same framework. Also, sample data was given by lead in order
to test the services. Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: Try
not to end a sentence with a preposition.
I got have very less little to speak discuss this week. As of
now, things are going good well under the guidance of the lead.

After 8 weeks on the job, do you feel that this experience has
changed you in any significant way? If so, how? If not, why
not? Conversely, have you prompted a significant change in the
way the company, the project, or the team performs?
Yes! This is 8th week of my internship. It’s always an on-going
learning process. As I already mentioned in the last week, this
week I had to work on the test case part. Sample data was given
by lead, and I had to create test cases for the code that I had
developed. I also made sure that the changes that are mentioned
last week were updated in the detail design document. The
design document is uploaded in the share point, were all the
developers, leads and managers have access to it and can know
how a web service works. I used SOAP UI for creating test
cases and used the sample data for running it. This week was
interesting as the development of code has been done, and I
started working on the testing part. We have a code review the
coming week with my manager and fellow team mates, where I
have to represent the developed code, suggested changes and
these test cases by sharing my screen.
Working here helped me a lot in learning multiple technologies
related to Oracle, which I was keen on learning. I got a chance
of writing PL/SQL stored procedures and developed various
SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) components.
Coming to my team, I have seen people becoming more
aggressive towards work, whenever a dead line was given. I
liked the team very much, as everybody here are friendly and
helpful to one another. I hope to continue learning a lot of
things working with the team.
Week 9 JournalYour internship is rapidly coming to an end.
What would you like your legacy to be? Do you think your
coworkers will remember you and, if so, how would you like to
be remembered? Do you think you have accomplished that
goal? Have you made an impression? Have your coworkers
made an impression on you?
As mentioned earlier, I have been completing all the tasks that
were assigned to me on time. I learned a lot of new things here
in my internship. People, environment, city, state everything
was quite to new me when I first stepped. I’m so excited that
this is my last term here in Southern New Hampshire University
and my last week as an intern. It gives me an immense pleasure
of completing my degree in Southern New Hampshire
University under the guidance of great Professors who helped
me in pursuing my Masters. The day when I made my mind
apply for an internship, the only taught thought I had in my
mind been to learn new things, coop and catch up with current
technologies that are a trend in the market. I wanted to see
myself as a person who is always ready to work hard and learn
new things.
I don’t know how my legacy could be continued at my office,
but the only thing which makes me happy is, the detail design
documents, code that I developed and written wrote are all
under my name as a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)
Developer. This one thing makes me real happy and I always
wanted to do my best to the organization. It was good working
with my co-workers, we all used to have a lot of fun during the
breaks, there was always discussions going on about the
implementation, technologies that were used in the organization
and how these help the company. I did face a challenge when
my team lead asked me work on PL/SQL where I did not have
any experience prior. IT 650 was one course in SNHU, where
we studied SQL, and that helped me a lot in completing my
tasks in on time. Not sure whether my coworkers will remember
me, but for sure I will remember them always, as this is my first
internship in United States, and these guys helped me in
everything, starting from understand the way how the business
runs, the requirements from the client and many other things. I
am and will be thankful for such a great institution and the
organization that helped in the most important phase of my
life.Week 10 JournalThis is the final week of your internship.
How do you feel about the experience? Did you manage to
expand your social, as well as your technical horizons? Did you
have a positive impact on the company / team / project? List a
few of the key experiences that were most important to you
Internship has come to an end. I felt that it would have been
good if the duration was little bit more than the current one. It
was bit sad for me leaving the company and handing over my
system, ID card over the front desk. My team lead, mates and
manager wished me good luck for my future when I met them
for the last time. The experience working here as Intern helped
me in gaining a lot of confidence in the work I do. I used to
know a lot of stuff related to the company’s business and how
the company deals with the Information Technology. It has got
all the latest technologies being implemented in the company. I
got an opportunity to know how all these technologies work and
the best uses of it.
It was fun working with the team over here, everybody helped
me when I did not understand something, and it may be code
wise or the functionality of the requirement. Technically I am
bit strong when I compare myself with what I was during my
academics. There was a time when the lead asked me to work on
PLSQL stored procedures, where I had to write code. My team
mates helped in understanding what exactly the requirement is
and how it has to be done. I do believe that I did expand my
social contacts during this Intern. Teammates let me know how
to apply for job posts by looking into various job portals like
dice, linkedInLinkedIn, techfetch and etc.Comment by Raymond
J. Curts, PhD: This is awkward wording.
It was the best experience ever in my life working here in this
company and getting graduated from SNHU which made my
dream come true.
I thank you professor for your help during this term in all ways.
Executive Brief

My company “CyberBrains” is headquartered in USA and is a
global Systems Integration firm that delivers high-quality IT
services to leading clients around the world. The company has
specific business policies which made it unique in the current
business market. The company offers IT services in the areas of
Application Development, Application Management, Packaged
Applications, Business Intelligence, Networking, Web
development, ERP solutions, Software Testing and Systems
Integration through a global delivery model that ensures
security, cost-effectiveness and quality for clients. Moreover,
solutions for a dynamic environment where business and
technology strategies converge are provided. The company
provides IT services to clients in the various type of industries
like Healthcare, Communications, Retail, Manufacturing, High
Technology, Travel and Transportation, Insurance, Banking,
Automotive, Energy & utilities, Media companies and Public
Sector industries.
I did get an opportunity to work on the PLSQL stored
procedures, which was a challenging task for me, as I did not
have any previous experience in it. IT 650 (Principles of
Database Design) a course in SNHU, helps the students to learn
what exactly a database is and how we deal with it. The
Professor helped us get hands on experience by making us
install an Oracle database in our personal computers and
execute queries in order to fetch data from the database. The
concepts that were taught helped me a lot in understanding the
requirements and writing the code. I had to develop a code from
scratch based on the functional requirements that were given. It
was really interesting in learning various concepts related to
PLSQL. The main difference between SQL and PLSQL that I
observed was, SQL is something that deals with queries to
execute statements and PLSQL is oracle’s programming
language. IT 501 is another course which helps to learn the
OOPS concepts, especially how JAVA is used in current world
and the role it plays in current Information Technology.
As mentioned earlier, all the degree programs are helpful to the
students in choosing their carrier in IT. The world is running
behind IT these days. There are n numbers of technologies that
are evolving every day. Lots of opportunities are present in
today’s world. The Master’s program at SNHU is quite
impressive for the courses they offer. We got 9 pre-requisite
courses and 3 electives to choose in our degree program.
Coming to the degree programs, a student can learn basics and
various concepts related to JAVA, Database,
Telecommunications, Simulation, Project Management,
Operating Systems, UML (Unified Modeling Language). If we
look at each course in detail, we could get to know the
importance of these in today’s world. All the technologies that
are present today are based upon the above mentioned courses
itself. It all depends on the student to what exactly his ambition
in IT is and what is he looking forward to pursue in his career.
Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: I don’t think this is what
you meant to say. Did you mean:
The world is focused on IT these days. ???
Let us consider an example of big data; Hadoop is one solution
that many clients are using. Hadoop has many benefits that deal
with big data in an organization. But once getting through it, we
could easily get to know that, Hadoop is mainly designed on
Java. Oracle Applications (E – Business Suite) is one thing that
many clients to manage the complexities of global
environments. Oracle Applications are developed using PLSQL,
wherein we create stored procedures in order to fetch data.
There are a lot of security policies that are managed for these
applications.
Hence I conclude by saying that, students can choose their
career while pursuing their Masters, by focusing on the subject
they are interested and the programs offered by the school are
helpful too in choosing the right technology in today’s
Information Technology.Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD:
Avoid first and second person. Professional papers are
typically written in the third person. It’s more formal.
[This is a pretty good summary Sai but the syllabus has a very
specific outline for the executive summary. I think you hit
many of the items that were intended but it would have been
easier to follow if you had used the outline and associated
headers provided in the syllabus. You should also keep working
on English grammar. That will become more important as your
career progresses.]

Week 1 Journal IT - 710 Information Tech InternshipInstruc.docx

  • 1. Week 1 Journal IT - 710 Information Tech Internship Instructor: Bradford Orcutt Submitted by Manojprabhakar Venkatapuram Southern New Hampshire University Swift Solution s Inc offered me an internship as a Jr. System analysis. The first week was really exciting. With the help of team lead I have got to know the system pretty well. The people were helpful towards me. I got a chance to meet my team manager, lead and teammates the very first day. From day 2 the team lead provided me the documents related to the functionality and introduced me to the teammates. The team lead made me feel free to ask questions related to the project to know what has and has not

All through the week I browsed the materials of the project that were provided to me. Understanding the system was a bit difficult at the beginning. As of now, I started working on the task that was assigned to me the first week. I got to know a lot of stuff related to the business at the client’s location. I hope my service to the project would add to the client’s identify the high-level task areas. The project is based on user interface design for the Check-Ease application. The Consult work was in progress identifies decisions that have already been made regarding hardware, software and project constraints. Identify the interface technology. Documents represent a set of starting interface design assumptions. Review the constraints and any outstanding issues regarding interface technology and implementation with the rest of the project team. Identifies complex problems, troubleshoots and provides solutions to assist users. This would be a whole new level of experience for me as I would learn a lot of new things which would be useful to my carrier.
  • 3. For starters, how is/was your first week "on the job" as an intern? What are your initial impressions of the company, the people, and the value proposition? I.e., How do you feel about your potential contributions to the company and the value of this experience to your career goals. Week 1 - Journal My first week was really excited for me, as this is something I am working in my Internship. I do have work experience for two years previously, but this is somewhat different when compared. Firstly, I was made to sit at the receptionist and later somebody took me to a place, where I got my ID, which allows me to get into the office location and also, has access to cafeteria, and fitness center. I got a chance to meet my team manager, lead and teammates the very first day itself. The guidance that I received around the office location was really good. The people were helpful towards me. A Ffew of my teammates took me around the office and let showed me know the location ofbasic needs such as office supplies, printer and scanner, restrooms and so on. The office location was surrounded by greenery, which was good looking and that made me a bit impressed about the location. I got the chance of working on the project from day 2 itself. The team lead provided me the documents related to the
  • 4. functionality and introduced me to the teammates. The Llead made me feel free to ask questions related to the project and set up a meeting with the teammates to make sure that I was going on correctly with the requirements. There were documents related to the functional specifications, administrator documents such as the server details. I got all my credentials and system (laptop) on the first day itself. People from the receptionist to the teammates were really helpful. As of now, I started working on the task that was assigned to me at the first week. I got to know a lot of stuff related to the business at the client’s location. I hope my experience would add to the client’s development in transforming data from one database to the other database which is present in the Germany. The project is based on transformation of data. Transformation of data is done between aWarehouse management system and HMS (a database in Germany). I am sure that I will achieve what I want in my internship. Learn more new things related to my tool that I am working on and get to know a lot about the business. Week 2 - Journa
  • 5. Second week was quite interesting for me as I got a chance to know about the company’s business. What exactly is going on in the company? There were few meetings scheduled with the functional team, to let the IT department know about the new requirements and updates on the existed one’s. As mentioned in the last week’s journal, this week I was working on the error handling frameworks according to the company’s requirement. I configured different instances on my local machine, which helps me in deploying the composites I developed onto the WLS (Web Logic Server). We got three instances here at my client location, one for development, with which the developer can play around and the other two are for testing and Production. We got our daily standup calls with the client, where the developers in my team update our daily development works. Also, prepared detailed design documents, which clearly displays the servers configured, composites built and the details of the servers. I got a chance to work on Oracle Applications (E-Business Suite) which takes cares of the inventory part of the company. As I will be working as a Oracle Middleware developer here, I also get a chance to work on different middleware tools of Oracle. E-Business Suite mainly deals Supply chain managements, inventory, financials, where a developer’s gets to learn a lot of stuff related to pl/sql stored procedures. Hopefully I will be getting chance next week or so.
  • 6. Continue recording your impressions, concerns and learning experiences. Each week, focus on something new that you encountered.Week 3 Journal As I said earlier, this week I did get a chance to work on creating plsql stored procedures. IT 650 course helped me in learning and understanding different concepts related to sql. I was also working on the previous assignments that were assigned to me related to the transformation of data. The data which I need to transform are given in MD70 (Meta Data) document. This document helps the Oracle Applications developer to know what data is needed for the transformation. The data collected is stored in a staging table which is created using the plsql. The data from the staging table is sent to the destination using the Oracle middleware tool. As of now I have been working on creating the staging table and the data need is

The team is working in according to the requirements. There is an offshore team working from Bangalore, India. This team handles the functional specification documents from the client. People in the team are helping each other for understanding the requirements related to the stored procedures as I am new to write a plsql code. It’s really exciting for me as I got a chance to learn few new things this week. By now you should have made some progress on your work assignments. What challenges are you facing? What triumphs / successes have you experienced so far? In general, how are things going? Are you beginning to feel comfortable and productive in your new position? What are you most concerned about?Week 4 Journal This is my forth week here in the company. Yesterday I had a code review with my team mates and lead. The company uses AT&T for video conference calls. I had to explain the work I developed from the scratch to teammates and the lead. The review meeting was for 1 hour and it went good well with few changes and suggestions from the lead. I had to explain the

This was really a challenging part for me as I had to put more effort in understanding various concepts to implement it. My teammates helped me in to understand the requirement according to the business of the company. The development is going on as usual with regular standup calls, meetings with the functional team whenever a change in the requirement happens. As said previously, our company uses Tortoise SVN for the code to check-in. End of the day the updated code has to be checked-in such that it is available for the lead and manager to take a look into it. The standup calls make everybody in the team to be on the same page. I am pretty much comfortable with the environment here as everybody is helpful to one another and I am learning new concepts related to my technology each day. I had to do a bit of homework on the weekends as I am not that familiar with plsql, but learning and knowing new concepts is really an interesting thing for me;, this makes me feel more productive in my work. The deadline for the code to be delivered for each task is estimated by the lead and assigned accordingly to the developer. My main motto here in the company is to learn new concepts related to the technology that I’ve been working on and finish the tasks assigned in time. Curts Submitted by Sai Kiran Gumpalli Southern New Hampshire University
  • 11. We are now about half way through the term. What have you accomplished so far? What do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 weeks? Yes! I still remember the day when I first joined the company, and it's already end of 5th week in here. Got to learn a lot of new things, working in a team, made new friends around the office. It is still an interesting part for me as I've been learning new things, brushing up the old stuff that I worked on previously. As mentioned earlier, I've been working on the PL/SQL stored procedures. I created a staging table, where the data from the source system falls into the staging table and then gets routed into the destination database. The transformation of data is through XSLT (XML Style-sheet Language Transformations) mapping. The data mapped as given in the functional requirement. This week I was working on the stored procedure itself. All these days, I did get a chance to know, what exactly the business is. And learnt how the requirements collected from the business team. The code developed would update into the SVN repository. Regular updates on a given task are delivered to the client through the daily standup calls with the leads. The next few days I only think of learning PL/SQL and its concepts. I will be focusing on my work, in order to complete the tasks on time and deliver it to the client for the unit test cases. The testing part initially is done in our systems itself. As
  • 12. I will be working on Oracle Middleware, we got to use SOAP UI testing for creating the test cases. Hopefully, I will be able to complete all the tasks on time. Journal 6 Times running fast and already end of 6th week here in internship. A lot of things to learn are yet not finished. I feel it’s something like an on-going process. There were few problems technically, but nothing social. The company had has provided me a desktop. Once there was a meeting scheduled with an offshore team but, unfortunately, the VPN wasn’t working finewell. I was unable to share my screen for a status update, and then I had to talk with the technical department guys, and they resolved it the next day. It's because I didn’t have the credentials of to accessing it. Later I got to know from one of my colleagues that there is a separate website for the technical department, and we got to raise a ticket if we need anything. I raised a ticket stating to provide merequesting access to the VPN, such that there would not be any problem in the future, when working with the offshore team. The team is good over here; they respond to the ticket on a priority basis. There are three levels of priority issues here at my location “P1”, “P2”, “P3”, where P1 is treated as URGENT, P2 as MODERATE and P3 as NORMAL. I never got a chance of reporting some issue of P1. Then later on the other day, I didn’t have access to any database (instances) that I had to work on.
  • 13. There is no tool that checks the access to the databases. The technical team took some time for approving and forwarding the credentials to me. I don’t remember any other situation that I felt difficult due to the technical issues. As of now things are going good under the guidance of my lead and manager. Journal 7 Continue recording your impressions, concerns and learning experiences This week I did have lots of changes on my work, the web services that I’ve created. There was a code review meeting for the PL/SQL stored procedures that I have been working on. I shared my screen using Cisco WebEx to my lead and team members. There were regular status meetings, that we attend and update our status to the lead. All through the week I’ve been working on the changes suggested by lead, and also had few functionality changes from the business team. During the process of data transformation through the Oracle middleware, I got to learn more about XSLT (XML Transformations). Once done with the changes suggested, I got to test the code using the test cases. By next week mid I will be working on the unit test cases. The unit test cases are done using SOAPUI. Error handling framework is kind of interesting part for this week. But I tried implementing my framework and later got to know
  • 14. from lead that, there is something common for all the web services that the company designed and we all had to use the same framework. Also, sample data was given by lead in order to test the services. Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: Try not to end a sentence with a preposition. I got have very less little to speak discuss this week. As of now, things are going good well under the guidance of the lead. Journal 8 After 8 weeks on the job, do you feel that this experience has changed you in any significant way? If so, how? If not, why not? Conversely, have you prompted a significant change in the way the company, the project, or the team performs? Yes! This is 8th week of my internship. It’s always an on-going learning process. As I already mentioned in the last week, this week I had to work on the test case part. Sample data was given by lead, and I had to create test cases for the code that I had developed. I also made sure that the changes that are mentioned
  • 15. last week were updated in the detail design document. The design document is uploaded in the share point, were all the developers, leads and managers have access to it and can know how a web service works. I used SOAP UI for creating test cases and used the sample data for running it. This week was interesting as the development of code has been done, and I started working on the testing part. We have a code review the coming week with my manager and fellow team mates, where I have to represent the developed code, suggested changes and these test cases by sharing my screen. Working here helped me a lot in learning multiple technologies related to Oracle, which I was keen on learning. I got a chance of writing PL/SQL stored procedures and developed various SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) components. Coming to my team, I have seen people becoming more aggressive towards work, whenever a dead line was given. I liked the team very much, as everybody here are friendly and helpful to one another. I hope to continue learning a lot of things working with the team. Week 9 JournalYour internship is rapidly coming to an end. What would you like your legacy to be? Do you think your coworkers will remember you and, if so, how would you like to
  • 16. be remembered? Do you think you have accomplished that goal? Have you made an impression? Have your coworkers made an impression on you? As mentioned earlier, I have been completing all the tasks that were assigned to me on time. I learned a lot of new things here in my internship. People, environment, city, state everything was quite to new me when I first stepped. I’m so excited that this is my last term here in Southern New Hampshire University and my last week as an intern. It gives me an immense pleasure of completing my degree in Southern New Hampshire University under the guidance of great Professors who helped me in pursuing my Masters. The day when I made my mind apply for an internship, the only taught thought I had in my mind been to learn new things, coop and catch up with current technologies that are a trend in the market. I wanted to see myself as a person who is always ready to work hard and learn new things. I don’t know how my legacy could be continued at my office, but the only thing which makes me happy is, the detail design documents, code that I developed and written wrote are all under my name as a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Developer. This one thing makes me real happy and I always wanted to do my best to the organization. It was good working with my co-workers, we all used to have a lot of fun during the breaks, there was always discussions going on about the
  • 17. implementation, technologies that were used in the organization and how these help the company. I did face a challenge when my team lead asked me work on PL/SQL where I did not have any experience prior. IT 650 was one course in SNHU, where we studied SQL, and that helped me a lot in completing my tasks in on time. Not sure whether my coworkers will remember me, but for sure I will remember them always, as this is my first internship in United States, and these guys helped me in everything, starting from understand the way how the business runs, the requirements from the client and many other things. I am and will be thankful for such a great institution and the organization that helped in the most important phase of my life.Week 10 JournalThis is the final week of your internship. How do you feel about the experience? Did you manage to expand your social, as well as your technical horizons? Did you have a positive impact on the company / team / project? List a few of the key experiences that were most important to you Internship has come to an end. I felt that it would have been good if the duration was little bit more than the current one. It was bit sad for me leaving the company and handing over my system, ID card over the front desk. My team lead, mates and manager wished me good luck for my future when I met them for the last time. The experience working here as Intern helped me in gaining a lot of confidence in the work I do. I used to know a lot of stuff related to the company’s business and how
  • 18. the company deals with the Information Technology. It has got all the latest technologies being implemented in the company. I got an opportunity to know how all these technologies work and the best uses of it. It was fun working with the team over here, everybody helped me when I did not understand something, and it may be code wise or the functionality of the requirement. Technically I am bit strong when I compare myself with what I was during my academics. There was a time when the lead asked me to work on PLSQL stored procedures, where I had to write code. My team mates helped in understanding what exactly the requirement is and how it has to be done. I do believe that I did expand my social contacts during this Intern. Teammates let me know how to apply for job posts by looking into various job portals like dice, linkedInLinkedIn, techfetch and etc.Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: This is awkward wording. It was the best experience ever in my life working here in this company and getting graduated from SNHU which made my dream come true. I thank you professor for your help during this term in all ways.

The company provides IT services to clients in the various type of industries like Healthcare, Communications, Retail, Manufacturing, High Technology, Travel and Transportation, Insurance, Banking, Automotive, Energy & utilities, Media companies and Public Sector industries. I did get an opportunity to work on the PLSQL stored procedures, which was a challenging task for me, as I did not have any previous experience in it. IT 650 (Principles of Database Design) a course in SNHU, helps the students to learn what exactly a database is and how we deal with it. The Professor helped us get hands on experience by making us install an Oracle database in our personal computers and execute queries in order to fetch data from the database. The concepts that were taught helped me a lot in understanding the requirements and writing the code. I had to develop a code from scratch based on the functional requirements that were given. It was really interesting in learning various concepts related to PLSQL. The main difference between SQL and PLSQL that I observed was, SQL is something that deals with queries to execute statements and PLSQL is oracle’s programming language. IT 501 is another course which helps to learn the OOPS concepts, especially how JAVA is used in current world and the role it plays in current Information Technology. As mentioned earlier, all the degree programs are helpful to the
  • 21. students in choosing their carrier in IT. The world is running behind IT these days. There are n numbers of technologies that are evolving every day. Lots of opportunities are present in today’s world. The Master’s program at SNHU is quite impressive for the courses they offer. We got 9 pre-requisite courses and 3 electives to choose in our degree program. Coming to the degree programs, a student can learn basics and various concepts related to JAVA, Database, Telecommunications, Simulation, Project Management, Operating Systems, UML (Unified Modeling Language). If we look at each course in detail, we could get to know the importance of these in today’s world. All the technologies that are present today are based upon the above mentioned courses itself. It all depends on the student to what exactly his ambition in IT is and what is he looking forward to pursue in his career. Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: I don’t think this is what you meant to say. Did you mean: The world is focused on IT these days. ??? Let us consider an example of big data; Hadoop is one solution that many clients are using. Hadoop has many benefits that deal with big data in an organization. But once getting through it, we could easily get to know that, Hadoop is mainly designed on Java. Oracle Applications (E – Business Suite) is one thing that many clients to manage the complexities of global environments. Oracle Applications are developed using PLSQL,

Hence I conclude by saying that, students can choose their career while pursuing their Masters, by focusing on the subject they are interested and the programs offered by the school are helpful too in choosing the right technology in today’s Information Technology.Comment by Raymond J. Curts, PhD: Avoid first and second person. Professional papers are typically written in the third person. It’s more formal. [This is a pretty good summary Sai but the syllabus has a very specific outline for the executive summary. I think you hit many of the items that were intended but it would have been easier to follow if you had used the outline and associated headers provided in the syllabus. You should also keep working on English grammar. That will become more important as your career progresses.]
