Acinipo was an archaeological site located in southern Spain that was first inhabited by Iberians in 800 BC. It later became a Roman city due to its strategic location and good farmland. The remains show Iberian houses were circular while Roman houses were rectangular or square. Public buildings included a theatre, forum, baths and squares. In the 4th century, the city was abandoned as the Roman Empire declined and residents emigrated to Ronda.
