4) A magazine advert promotes a "Burn It Down" concert with an image of a burning city, clearly displaying the band name, date, supporting
2. Digipak Research
The digipaks for this band is
mostly artwork for the band.
Each skeletal character
represents a band member.
This shows that they see
themselves as something to
be scared of.
Behind the skeletons is a burning city and boat. This makes you thin that they are the cause of this destruction. This
makes you think that they are even more powerful as they can destroy so much. The artwork is spread over all three
slots of the digipak making it more impressive and seem like the damage is far away in the distance.
In their other digipak, it is
more based around the logo
of the band with it stretching
across all three pages of the
digipak. The use of their logo
builds up the amount of
people who recognise the
logo and the band.
Behind the logo is fire spread over the rest of the page. This makes them seem dangerous as it seems like the logo is
controlling the fire behind it and is unaffected by the danger.
3. Poster Research
This is one of Avenged Sevenfold’s posters for the band. In this
particular poster they are advertising their album “Nightmare”. It
shows a skeletal figure with wings coming out of a fog in a
graveyard. The skeletal figure is meant to be seen as scary and
feared. This is because they are seen as a feared band and the
name of the album is a main factor. As this album is meant to be
scary they made this poster very detailed and specific. In the
bottom of the poster there is a little girl hiding from the skeletal
figure. She is hidden among dead flowers and plants on the floor.
She is clutching a white teddy bear to herself as if for comfort. She
is also using her hair to cover her mouth as if she is crying. This is
to show that even the innocent should be scared about the band.
Her eyes are wide open as if she is scared for her life and the
skeletal figure is going to harm her. This adds even more fear to the
poster and gives it even more power. There is a tomb stone behind
the girl and in front of the skeletal figure. On this tomb stone is
“FOREVER” which can show that there is no escape from them and
death.
4. Website Research
On the band website, the first thing that you see is the bands
logo so that you build a memory of the logo and recognise it
later on. It also says the name of the band above this so that
you know what you are looking at. Below this are links to the
home page, tour information page and their store. This lets
you navigate the website with ease. Above all of this is a way
to register and log in to the website so that you can be
interactive with the website and do more around the band.
They also have options to connect to networking websites so
that you can advertise the band to others you know. This is
free advertising to the band and can be very useful when
selling tickets to concerts.
Below this is news about the band and what they have been
up to. This allows the fans of the band know about what they
are currently doing and what they have been doing. There is
also a link to iTunes so the viewer can buy the current album
digitally along with hard copies next to it. This tempt the
audience to buy their music as there is a constant reminder of
what they have to offer. Below this is a small form where you
can subscribe to the band and get constant emails about what
the band are doing and special offers. This is good for the
band to make money as they can advertise their
performances and other products they offer.
5. Magazine Advert Research
This is an advert for one of the bands gigs that was
advertised in a music magazine. The advert shows a city
being burnt down at a distance. It is captioned “Burn It
Down” which is the name of the concert. The name and
image show danger as if the band are something with power
and to be feared. At the top of the advert is the name of the
band. This is very clear and obvious and catches the
audiences eye as it is very different in contrast to the rest of
the image. The date of the concert is shown clearly also
saying that it is a one off concert. It also offers a line up of
other bands that are going to be there. This can bring in
additional people to the concert so they can make more
money. It also mentions where tickets can be bought from. It
doesn’t say how much tickets are so that the audience want
to go before knowing the price. This makes them want to go
no matter what the price is as they already want to go no
matter the price. It also says where it will be held so that
people can decide whether they can get there or not. In the
bottom corner is the bands producers logo so that people
know who produces the band and advertises them.
