• Discuss the response of organizational behaviour on globalization, diversification and
advancement in technology
TUTORIAL QUESTIONS:
1. What is organizational behaviour?
Organizational behaviour is concerned with people's thoughts, feelings, emotions and
actions in setting up a work.
2. Describe the models of organizational behaviour.
• The System Model
The system model emerged because of a strong search for higher meaning at work by
many of today’s employees; they want more than just a pay check and job security from
their jobs.
• The Custodial Model
If an organisation does not have the wealth to provide pensions and pay other benefits, it
cannot follow a custodial approach.

• The Supportive Model
The supportive model depends on leadership, instead of power or money.
• The Collegial Model
The collegial model depends on management’s building a feeling of partnership with
employees.
• The Autocratic Model
Depends on power which means that an employee must follow orders given or else they
will be penalized.

4. Describe the fundamental concepts connected to organizational behaviour.
People: People make up the internal social system in the organization. They consist of
individuals and groups.
Structure: Structure defines the formal relationship and use of people in the organization.
Technology: The technology imparts the physical and economic conditions within which
people work.
Social System: The social system provides external environment within which the
organization operates.
5. Justify, with examples, why knowledge of organizational behaviour is important for
managers.
Understanding organizational behaviour allows the managers to better manage employee
manager relations, improves job satisfaction, and stimulates innovation and creativity
thus guiding him into creating a dynamic working climate.

CLASS ACTIVITY:
1. Activities (ice-breaking) will be conducted based on the preference of your respective
tutor. This session should be an introduction session where it would enable tutor and
students to interact and understand each other’s’ preferences. Students are advised to
take this opportunity to enquire on the subject matter for further clarification.
2. Students are to discuss their tutorial questions from lecture 1 in the class. Students will
also be examined on other area of the topics covered for further understanding by your
respective tutor.
3. Ensure all students bring along your learning materials (MIB, Study Guide, Slides/Notes
etc.)
