Riots in Gujarat Hindu-Muslim violence has always been a problem in the state of Gujarat in India Violence erupted on Feburary 27th, 2002 when a train car full of Hindu’s was lit on fire by a group of Muslims The next day was decreed as a day of mourning, however Hindu militants attacked the Muslim part of the town of Ahmedabad, where funeral services were being held The Hindu attackers had nationalist support, as they were prepared with gas cylinders and swords To date there has been no response from the state officials about the incident, despite their alleged involvement

Robert Clive Robert Clive is credited with claiming India for Britain in the mid 1700’s He gained his military fame during a clash between the East India companies and the natives Clive then went on to lead an offensive against French forces attacking Trichinopoly He and his forces survived a 53 day siege by the French After returning to Britain victorious, he set out again for India, where he plan to oust the French completely Instead of removing the French, he ended up claiming Calcutta in a series of military victories

Sri Lankan Civil War The Sri Lankan Civil War was a conflict between the government and an insurgent group called the Tamil Tigers The Tigers wished to create an independent state in the northeast The conflict waged on for 26 years, with a 3 year break due to a ceasefire Conflict finally ended in May 2009 when the Tiger’s capital was captured Over 80,000 people were killed in the conflict
