- 2. MEANING • Set induction refers to the process of using a thought-provoking statement, interesting fact, or an audio-visual stimulus at the beginning of lecture to gain student's attention and give an overview about the lecture topic.
- 3. PURPOSE • The purpose of the set induction process is to focus pupil attention on some commonly known experiential referent (orientation), which becomes a mechanism by which the teacher makes the passage from the known to the new material (transition), thereby building continuity from lesson to lesson.
- 4. Sub -skills: • Arousing curiosity • Revival of previous knowledge • Use of teaching aids • Effectiveness • Statement of aim • Title writing
- 5. How do set induction: • Welcome The Students • Settle Them Down • Gain Attention. • Understand Their Expectations • Explain Yours • Link with previous learning through questions
- 6. Set-induction Micro-plan • Ask the questions based on previous knowledge • No. of questions should be 3 to 5 • Last question should be problematic (preferably) • Questions should be in logical sequencing • Next question will arise from previous answer

Set-induction Micro-plan-II • Pattern of questions we may see like ( Z) • Proper Audio- Visual aids should be used ( if required) • Different style of questions should be asked for different subjects. • Questions should be very clear , simple and concise, so that no ambiguity arise in student’s mind.
