2. MEANING
• Set induction refers to the process of using a
thought-provoking statement, interesting fact, or an
audio-visual stimulus at the beginning of lecture to
gain student's attention and give an overview about
the lecture topic.
3. PURPOSE
• The purpose of the set induction process is to
focus pupil attention on some commonly known
experiential referent (orientation), which becomes a
mechanism by which the teacher makes the passage
from the known to the new material (transition),
thereby building continuity from lesson to lesson.

• Ask the questions based on previous knowledge
• No. of questions should be 3 to 5
• Last question should be problematic (preferably)
• Questions should be in logical sequencing
• Next question will arise from previous answer
