2. Chlamydia :
It is a common sexually transmitted disease
It is an infection caused by a sexual contact
(chlamydial trachomatis)
Incubation period : 7 – 21 days
Chalamydia is :
i. More than 3 times as common as gonorrhea
ii. More than 50 times as common as syphilis
4. Risk factors :
Adolescence
New or multiple sex partner
History of STD infection
Oral contraceptives users
Lack of barrier contraception
5. Clinical features :
In women :
Abdominal pain
Abnormal vaginal discharge
Low grade fever
Dyspareunia
Pain or burning feeling while urinating
Swelling inside the vagina or around the anus
Vaginal bleeding after intercourse
A yellowish discharge from the cervix that may have a strong
smell
6. In male :
Pain and burning sensation during
micturition
Pus or watery or milky discharge from penis
Swollen or tender testicles
Swelling around the anus
