6. Classification of Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea of urogenital
Gonorrhea at other sites in
the body; extragenital
gonorrhea( gonorrhea of
the rectum, throat, mouth,
eyes, joint)
7. Symptoms of Gonorrhea
The incubation period is 2 to 5
days.
In Men:
• Painful urination
• Pus-like discharge the tip of the
penis
• Pain or swelling in one testicle
In Women:
• Increased vaginal discharge
• Painful urination
• Vaginal bleeding between periods
• Abdominal or pelvic pain
8. Risk factors of Gonorrhea
• Sexually active women younger than 25 years old
• Men who have sex with men
• Having a sex partner who has other partners
• Having more than one sex partners
• Having had gonorrhea or another sexually
transmitted infection

11. Treatment for Gonorrhea
• Gonorrhea Infection of
the eyes
Cefriaxone
1% tetracycline eye
ointment
• Infected Children
Cefotaxime- 25-50
mg/kg every 12 hours
Ceftriaxone; 25-50
mg/kg/d, once for 7 days
13. Signs and Symptoms of Chlamydia infection
Note: Early stage chlamydia infecion
cause few or no signs and symptoms.
Even when signs and symptoms occur,
they are often mild.
The incubation period is 7 to 14 days.
