3. ABSTRACT
• Approximately 285 million people are visually impaired
worldwide.
• People with complete blindness have difficult time in self-
navigating environment.
• Traveling in crowded environment is of greatest difficulty.
• Need assistance of someone to navigate them.
• Lack of proper navigation leads to increased number of
death records.
• Poor security is one of major problems.
4. AIM AND
OBJECTIVES
• To encourage people to live life independently.
• To benefit use of latest and easy technology
available.
• To reduce accidental cases recorded.
• Make virtual tutor for proper navigation.
• To create awareness so that people don’t get
exploited.
• To provide safety without human involvement.
• To offer smart device providing independent
mobility with security.
5. INTRODUCTION
• CONCEPT OF MICROCONTROLLER
• CONCEPT OF ULTRASONIC SENSOR
• CONCEPT OF PIR SENSOR
• CONCEPT OF CAMERAAND BLUETOOTH
6. CONCEPT OF
MICROCONTROLLER
• Tool that works on instruction.
• Combination of Microprocessor, Memory &
I/O devices.
• Flash memory is equivalent to hard drive of
PC.
• Lifespan is around 1000-1500 read/write
cycles.
• Writing program requires at least 1 GB RAM,
a decent CPU and less than 100 cycles of
CPU.
7. CONCEPT OF ULTRASONIC
SENSOR
• Measures distance by using ultrasonic waves.
• Pulses propagate with the velocity of sound in air.
• Distance is measured by calculating Time of Flight.
• It can suppress background interferences.
• Dust deposits on the sensor membrane does not impair
its function.
• Can be used to detect object at any level of fixed range.
8. CONCEPT OF PIR
SENSOR
• Used to detect IR radiations.
• Uses signal-processing algorithms to extract
desired information.
• It converts infrared signals to current or
voltage for detection.
• Used in wide range of commercial products
for automatic light control, safety, cost
savings etc.
9. CONCEPT OF CAMERA
AND BLUETOOTH
• Camera captures the image of detected objects.
• It can be wired or wireless.
• It can also have audio capability.
• Bluetooth is used for sharing of information
over short distances.
• Pairing of devices is essential.
• It can also transfer live information captured
by camera.
10. SCOPE
• Can improve the lifestyle of visually impaired
people.
• Security level of one’s life will increase.
• Make one confident hence help in
overcoming daily challenges.
11. SCOPE OF COMPONENTS
USED
• MICROCONTROLLER
Can be used to hold components in making of other devices.
Widely used in IOT projects.
• ULTRASONIC SENSOR
Can be used to detect any foreign substances in food.
Can determine eye axis length and many more.
12. • PIR SENSOR
Used in Burglar alarms for security purpose.
Automatic smart light projects.
• BLUETOOTH
Transfer any informative files like videos, images etc.
Play recorded audio.
• CAMERA
Capture environment in any form like image or video.
Can display the same through any medium to any location.
13. DESIGN
• 4 Ultrasonic Sensors
• 1 PIR Sensor
• A button to on and off device
• A charging port
• Arduino Camera
• Arduino Bluetooth
• Arduino Microcontroller to hold
all the devices
14.
15. IMPLEMENTATION
• Button will switch on and off the device.
• Ultrasonic sensors will detect obstacles of
various locations.
• PIR sensor will detect presence of moving
obstacle.
• Camera will capture image.
• Narrator will narrate obstacle.
• Narration will be narrated by Bluetooth device.
• Charging port will charge the device.
16. ANALYSIS
• The use of Smart Stick is legalized by many
countries.
• Use of Technology in such a manner improved
security to millions of people worldwide.
17. SUGGESTION FOR FURTHER
STUDY
• Same concepts can be used to make other innovative things.
• Use of concept image to narration can help train various pet
animals.
• Same components can be included in a belt to make
innovative pet belt.
• Inbuilt narrative function will help to navigate animals
without human involvement.
• GPS technology can also be included to keep track of their
dear ones.
