Each and every one of you is a leader, with
the capacity to make a great difference
within our society. I challenge you to go back to that day in
January, when we said that we are going to create IMPACT
through excellence. Do you remember the goals you’ve said
out to reach?. Now look where you stand today, what steps
have you taken?, what actions do you have to take to reach
your goals?. Being excellent is about taking action and dedi-
cating everyday to reach your goals.
Fellows, Be excellent, take ACTION for IMPACT
Great leaders don't set out to be a leader,
They set out to make a difference
It's not about the role, it's about the goal

National President,Donaghy Malone
attended the JCI National Presidents
meeting of the America’s in Lima from
the 24th till the 26th of February.
JCI Paramaribo is very proud of the
way he represented our country and
JCI Suriname.
The speaker was Mrs. Edith Rosheuvel, who is a
police inspector. The elements of domestic vio-
lence was the topic and it was an interactive pre-
sentation. Questions were asked and answered
immediately. Although she did not get to the part
on sexual harassment in the workplace it was still
an eye opening presentation. We are looking for-
ward to a follow up in which sexual harassment in
the workplace can be presented.

Bigi Broki Waka and breakfast
Fellows of JCI Paramaribo started the year healthy by participating in the
annual BigiBroki Waka, which was held on the 8th of January 2017. Fellows
walked proudly with the flag of JCI Paramaribo, which expressed the chapter
well. After the walk, the group had a delicious and healthy breakfast at the
headquarter of JCI Paramaribo, Kennedy Stichting. Fellows of JCI Paramaribo
love to have fun, so we decided to end the afternoon by playing one of our all
time favorite games, Charades. It was a successful retention project and the
bond between the fellows and observers was further strengthened.
Every year JCI Paramaribo organizes an Orientation
and Game night. The main purpose of this project is
to give more publicity to our chapter. This year the
orientation and game night was held on the 27th of
January 2017 at Belly’s Food House. Vice President
Internal Giovanni Robinson held a presentation
about JCI Suriname and JCI Paramaribo. The guests where informed about
the different aspects of the organization, our vision and mission, how to
become a member, the type of projects we participate in, the meaning of our
‘Be Excellent’ thought and much more. After the presentation the fellows and
guests participated in a Kizomba course and some fun games like: Face the
cookie, Pop the balloon and Charades. It was a great night and we all had a
lot of fun!.

On Tuesday, February 28th, 2017 the 56th anniver-
sary of JCI Paramaribo was celebrated in a festive
manner. President of the Senate, Diana Sweet and
National President Donaghy Malone, both looked
back at the developments that JCI Paramaribo has
endured over the years and the positive impact
that the organization has hadfor 56 years on the
society and its members. After the formal part, the
official celebration of the night began with cutting
the cake and bringing out a toast on many more
successful and excellent years of the organization.
The evening continued with Karaoke. We may all
look back on a great birthday!.
JCI Paramaribo 56th anniversary
On the 25th of march 2017, a couple of fellows of JCI Paramaribo paid
‘Peperpot Nature Park’ a visit. They first got a tour in the resort from the
research co-ordinator Cyrano Ramsaran, who informed them about the differ-
ent aspects of the plantation ‘Peperpot’. After the tour they drove to planta-
tion La Liberte where they went camera trapping. The team had a great time
and made some memories together.

Rinat Adipi,
In 2017 he was appointed Director Reten-
tion. From the beginning he has worked

three activities successfully. He always
reaches his deadlines and always goes the
extra mile. He has proven to “Be Excellent”
not only in words but also in his deeds.
Ernest van Ewijk,
His drive to get the job done always pays
off. In various projects he has shown that he
has his heart in the right place. And
although we have a lot of good observers, in
