1. O
n July 12, 2020 we organized a
pancake and waffle pop chill-out
day at the head quarter of JCI
Paramaribo, Kennedyโs Stichting. Since
the chapter is well known for its delicious
pancakes, the Fundraisings Director,
Charissa Malone-Berrenstein together
with her fundraisings committee decided
to turn this into a fundraisings activity.
The menu consisted of: pancakes, waffle
pops, donuts, cinnamon rolls and
refreshing ginger beer. The fundraising
was a great success and we were sold
out within a couple of hours. Because we
were sold out so fast and a lot of people
didnโt get to taste our mouth watering
snacks, we decided to organize a second
edition on July 31st
, 2020. During our
second waffle pop and chill-out day we
sold: pancakes, waffle pops, cinnamon
rolls, cake and not to forget our delicious
ginger beer. The fundraisings committee
made the second edition much more
attractive by adding a combo deal to the
menu that consisted of:10 pancakes, 6
cinnamon rolls, 2 waffle pops and 1 bottle
of ginger beer. The second edition was
also a great success and we like to thank
everyone who supported these two
fundraisings activities.

2. A weekend well spent with JCI Tobago
โC
ollaborateโ is one
of the JCI pillars
we love to apply
within JCI Paramaribo. We
always enjoy collaborating
with our fellow JCI chapters,
but also with JCI chapters
from abroad. On Friday, July
17, 2020 we had a meet and greet and game night with the fellows of JCI Tobago via
the application โZoomโ. We got to know each other better and had a good laughter while playing
some fun virtual games together. On Saturday July 18, 2020 the fellows of JCI Paramaribo
participated in the training: 'Project Mangament' that was hosted by JCI Tobago. The training was
provided by the National Executive Assistant from JCI West Indies, Deondra Wishart. The trainer
mainly focused on the different steps that need to be taken to execute successful projects. Thank
you JCI Tobago for this amazing weekend! We are definitely looking forward to more
collaborations together.

s a chapter we have
always supported a
healthy lifestyle.
Exercising is one of the simple
actions that can be taken to stay
fit and healthy. We can't stress
the importance of exercising
enough, especially in times of a
pandemic. On Sunday, July 26,
2020 our Local President, Rinat
Adipi gathered some fellows of
JCI Paramaribo, JCI Female,
JCI Unify, JCI Nilom and
JCI Urban for a morning fitness.
The group started jogging at
5:45am on the Jules
Wijdenbosch bridge towards
Commewijne and back to
Paramaribo. The fellows had a
fresh and fit start of the new
week. Feel free to join us the
next time!

Because We Care part 1
โB
ecause We Careโ
is the name of a
community
project that was excecuted
by JCI Paramaribo. The aim
of this project was to give
back to the children of
foster homes: Huize
Campagne en Maria Hoeve.
The project was divided in 2
parts. The first part
consisted of a fundraising of
food and basic life products
that were collected in the
period of July 08-August 07,
2020. On August 16, 2020 the
committee paid children's
homes: Huize Campagne and
Maria Hoeve a visit where they
handed over the packages
with basic life products. The
children of both foster homes
were beyond thankful for this
wonderful gesture.

JCI knowledge by participating in 2 official courses.
JCI Discover
O
n Saturday August 22, 2020 the training: 'JCI Discover' was provided by

Because We Care part 2
T
he second part of the 'Because We Care project' was executed on August 26,
2020. We surprised the kids of children's homes: Maria Hoeve and Huize
Campagne with some lovely presents and educative Green Ambassador
books from JCI Unify. Everyone who wished to contribute to this part of the project
was asked to register. After the registration the donors received the sex and age of a
child and had the opportunity to buy a present for them. We like to thank everyone
who contributed to the successful execution of the first and second part of this
project. Also a big thank you to JCI Unify who has donated 61 Green Ambassador
books. Seeing the smile and gratitude on these children's faces, brought so much
joy to our hearts.

the second JCI official course: 'Presenter' that was
provided by none other than our Local President Rinat

strong delivery methods with a mind towards understanding the
audience. The courses were very interactive and most of all
interesting.

Meeting-29-08-2020
O
n Saturday, August 29, 2020 we organized a General
Meeting once again via the application โZoomโ. Some
business that was handled was: the presentation and
adoption of the final report 'Because We Care project' and the
installation of the nomination and polling committee. An absolute
highlight of the evening was a motivational session that was
provided by the National Vice President (NVP) of JCI Dutch Carib-
bean, Sheryl Renfrum-Sordam. The NVP focused on some effec-
tive steps that need to be taken to be successful in life. Looking
back on a very productive meeting.

the opportunity to elect a new board that will
lead JCI Paramaribo in the year 2021. On
Saturday, September 19, 2020 we made this

Kutamini Run Through
โ
Kutaminiโ means appreciation in Swahili and is symbolized as
โrecognitionโ by the board 2020 who is also known as: โTeam
Wakandaโ. The โKutaminiโ usually took place during the physical
General Meetings of JCI Paramaribo and was a special moment in
which members and observers received a present from the board.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to put this on hold since
March 2020. On September 23, 2020 we organized a โKutamini Run
Throughโ especially for the fellows and observers who celebrated or
will celebrate their birthdays in the period of March-October 2020.
Besides the birthdays, the board also recognized the members,
observers and officers of the first, second and third quarter. Further
the observers who got installed as members during the second
quarter received their membership pin. The Past Presidents of JCI
Paramaribo also received a Past Presidents pin. A memorable
symbol for them to look back on the year they led the chapter.
