geographical area, with 29 staff and 3 supervisors, responsibilities include budget planning, staff
recruitment, training, payroll and development, liaising with retail park managers to ensure service
levels always meet expectations, developing new business and reporting opportunities to national
account managers.
April 2002 to May 2012 Fleet Operations Manager Airparks / Holiday Extras,
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a mixed light and heavyvehicle fleet at 8
sites nationwide operating 24/7, this was achieved by constantly liaising and developing
partnerships with site staff, VOSA, local Integrated Transport Executives and all suppliers.
Ensuring an efficient, safe and compliant operation and that quality of customer service
was maintained through effective teamwork, communication and negotiation.
Developed an idler cut off system that reduced fuel costs by 5%, also
implemented a driver behaviour system to identify inefficient driving habits
further reducing fuel costs by 6%.
Assisted in the design of a professional development programme for staff to
ensure they always achieved sales targets and felt valued as part of the team.
Designed and facilitated training for drivers to enable them to operate more
efficiently by teaching them enhanced maintenance skills and the art of efficient
driving.
Reduced vehicle downtime by creating a pro-active maintenance approach
including inspections and repairs targeted at times more relevant to the

and identified and improved engineering processes.
Identified the need to improve the maintenance of shop floor equipment,
reduced costs and increasing efficiency.
1976 – 2000 Manufacturing Engineer, Royal Electrical & Mechanical
Engineers (R.E.M.E. H M Forces)
Achieving highest grade in trade group of Department Manager, with responsibility for
general engineering and logistics covering a large multi-site geographical area with
responsibility for the welfare, Health and safety, professional conduct, training, personal
development and performance assessment of up to 50 personnel.
Project managed a major modification programme on a fleet of heavy lift vehicles,
completing the project within budget and time constraints.
Organised and facilitated initial pre-course training for employees awaiting training.
Designed and assisted in the co-ordination and rebuild of a new general
engineering facility at an Army base in Abingdon.
Whilst serving in Northern Ireland awarded a commendation for designing a fire
suppression system to fit patrol vehicles, reducing fatalities and injuries.
During the Gulf War, awarded a commendation for carrying out innovative repairs
to battle winning vehicles
