1. Transocean Sedco 704

Transocean's Sedco 704 semi-submersible rig
arrived at Nigg Energy Park in February 2013 to
undergo a 100-day yard stay project.
Our specialist Access & Coatings team provided
new and innovative methods to blast and paint
the pontoon ballast tanks utilising tension netting
systems, which are proven to be 5 times quicker
than traditional scaffolding methods.
Other scopes included removal, refurbishment
and installation of a paint recoating programme
on the upper derrick, encapsulating the lower
half of the derrick with netting systems to provide
an environmental protection barrier.
In order to ensure these large scopes were
conducted in a safe and controlled manner
Access & Coatings contracted David Hill
(DA Consultancy) to oversee and monitor Quality,
Health, Safety and Environmental elements
throughout. David worked alongside SEPA other
Global group companies to ensure project safety
was at the highest standard thought-out thus,
ensuring successful project completion in Nigg
Energy Park dry dock facility

2. Transocean Sedco 712

Scopes on the Sedco 712 included carrying out
a full derrick refurbishment programme with the
removal of all the drilling components, removal
and replacement off all corroded components
and steelwork, 100% bolt change out, a full UHP
(Ultra High Pressure) blast of the structure and
application of a three coat paint system to
Transocean specification then re-instatement
of the new drilling package on completion.
During the 200+ day yard stay at Invergordon
Service Base, the Access & Coatings division
was tasked to find a solution to fully encapsulate
the derrick from top to bottom, eliminating the
requirement for scaffolding, but at the same
time provide all the benefits of scaffolding
and encapsulation.
