Human Development Index (HDI)
2. Human Development Index (HDI)
The Human Development Index
(HDI) is a synthetic indicator of the
average achievements obtained in
the fundamental dimensions of
human development, namely,
having a long and healthy life,
acquiring knowledge and enjoying a
decent standard of living. The HDI is
the geometric mean of the
normalized indices of each of the
three dimensions.
3. Human Development Index (HDI)
Process by which a society improves the living conditions of its citizens through an increase in
assets that can cover their basic and complementary needs, and the creation of an environment
in which the human rights of all are respected they.
It is the amount of options a human being has in his own environment, to be or do what he
wants. The greater the number of options, the more human development, the fewer options, the
less human development. Human Development could also be defined as a way of measuring the
quality of life of the human being in the environment in which it operates, and a fundamental
variable for the qualification of a country or region.
4. Gini Index
The Gini coefficient is a number between 0 and 1, where 0 corresponds to perfect equality (all
have the same income) and where the value 1 corresponds to the perfect inequality (one person
has all the income and the others none ). The Gini index is the Gini coefficient expressed in
reference to 100 as a maximum, instead of 1, and is equal to the Gini coefficient multiplied by 100.
A variation of two cents of the Gini coefficient (or two units of the index) equals to a distribution
of 7% of wealth from the poorest sector of the population (below the median) to the richest
(above the median).
5. Índice de desarrollo humano ajustado por la
desigualdad (IHDI)
The Index of Human Development Adjusted by inequality (IDH-D), proposes a method to adjust
the HDI, in order to reflect the distribution of human development achievements for the
population and for each of the different dimensions. That is, not only considers the average
achievements for a given country (in health, education and income), but in turn takes into
account the distribution of them throughout the population, penalizing the average value for
each dimension depending on how uneven it is.
6. Human development
Human development is also often defined as the process of expanding
opportunities. Understood in this way, human development implicitly entails mobility of life
opportunities
7. HDI in Mexico
The annual report states that, despite the fact that the country's HDI is 0.762, if the inequality
index were discounted, it would have a figure of 0.587, which would lower Mexico to position 89,
a loss of 12 places.
On the issue of inequality, Mexico ranked world number 77, which represented a decline of 12
positions.
8. IHDI en mexico
Thanks to the issue of inequality in Mexico, we lost 12 places in the ranking.
There is a slow progress with the issue of inequality so it is necessary to work with this issue.

10. Working market
The labor market: a trigger for equal opportunities mobility.
What happens in the labor market is decisive to trigger the absolute mobility and equalization of
opportunities, since the income of households and their inequality come mainly from it. The
results for Mexico show that the labor market is not contributing to upward mobility, but to
mobility equalizing opportunities. On the one hand, real labor income did not increase and its
value in terms of a basket of satisfiers decreased between 2005 and 2015; on the other, however,
equality in distribution increased.

12. Inequality is an issue that this issue is a phenomenon that conspires against sustainable
development, we are still .45 percent in the Gini coefficient.
