EDITING TECHNIQUES:
For editing our music video, we used Adobe Premiere Pro on Grace’s MacBook.
Thiseditingtechniqueis keyframing.Keyframesare usedtochange the propertiesof avideooraudio
effectovertime.Almostanyeffectcanuse keyframes, forexample,volume,opacity,scale,position,colour
etc. The ideaisto create more than one keyframe,thensetthe desiredeffectvaluesateachkeyframe.
Premiere will create agradual change invaluesbetweenkeyframes.
This is layering clips. We decided to layer clips to create an intriguing effect, relating to 80’s videos.
This is done by having one clip and duplicating it twice but altering them to make them different lengths.

makingthe shotsmoother,overall improvingthe flowof the video.
Thisshows speedingupand reversingofclips.Speedingupa clip,makesthe durationof it
shorter,whichworkswell inourmusicvideoasthe beatis relativelyfastanyway. Reversingthe
speedwasalsouseful tokeepthe audience interestedandwe coulduse itas anotherclip
straightafterthe same one to create an obviouseffect. Thiscreatesamoderntwisttoour video.

Colour correctingwas a tool we usedoften,togive our clipsaddedwarmth (pinksand
oranges) tomatch the tone of the song. Allowingustocolourcorrect shots,we couldalso
match shotsthat aren’tinthe studiowithonesthatwere,thathadlightinghues.

Cutting the clip to make a transition was a useful technique aswe usedthe splittool tocut
a clipand place a transitionbetweenthem, makingthe shotappearfaster andalso
generallylookbetter.
