2. Moodboard / Ideas
Ideas:
-This image from ‘Disclosure’
uses a sketched design over
the top, I could maybe try use
something like this to keep my
images interesting since that
they all look fairly similar.
-The digital art used on this
poster for duo ‘Axwell Ingrosso’
is quite an eye-catching
design, I could maybe use
something like this for the front
cover of my magazine since
that using plain images could
potentially come across as
looking unprofessional.
-I really like the composition of
this image from ‘Showtek’, It
has a slight illusion to it and so
makes it eye-catching however
it would be difficult to get the
images to line up perfectly so
this may be too difficult to
achieve.
Colours:
-I created some colour palette swatches from images that I
found online from dance music festivals and shows;
-I can see from the colour swatches that the main colours are
dark purple, deep blue, neon blue and bright pink. These will
most likely be used for my magazine and could maybe be joined
with the style of the ‘Axwell Ingrosso’ poster for my front cover.
3. Location & Costume
Planning
Costume:
-The costumes that I wanted to have in my shoot were modern clothes that the
target audience would wear but also being fairly plain so the clothing won’t act as
too much of a distraction in the photos, this is because from other magazines I
have seen the clothing has very plain to focus on the artists face and make sure
the artist is the key signifier of the image.
For the models for my double page spread I decided to ask them to wear dark
blue/navy clothes because that would match the white and black theme I was
going to use but wouldn’t be as contrasting as black clothing would be, furthermore
from magazines I have seen the colour scheme usually consists of black white and
a colour, this is what I have chosen to do since it will give slightly more interest on
the page than a plain black and white page would give.
For the other shots I told my models to wear fairly plain clothes, preferably a
grey/white shirt or jumper. Logos or branding didn’t matter too much as long as it
wasn’t an excessive amount on the clothing.
Both of the shots I told my models to not care too much about leg wear or foot
wear as long as it wasn’t any bright colours, this was because I wasn’t going to
have any shots that were longer than a medium shot so the only clothing that
would be seen would be the top and maybe a small part of the leg wear.
Location:
-I was pretty decided on the
location that I wanted to use as I
knew the overall design that I
wanted to achieve, this is why I
decided to use a plain white
backdrop since it would be very
easy to edit in Photoshop and is
what I have seen been used in
other magazines.
It was shot the first time in front of
a school whiteboard however after
reviewing the photos I noticed that
it was not a large enough board to
cover the entire background and
so I re-shot in front of a plain white
wall instead.
